  1. In the book you have to use your imagination more I think and it helps if you use a lot of detail in the description. I guess people want quicker results these days. For example the Godfather is one of my favorite movies, but sometimes when I watch it it seems to move slow also.
  2. I just saw the movie last night. I thought it was much too long. I guess if your more into special effects as opposed to story flow then it would be alright. I'm not saying it wasn't a good movie because it was but way too long, especially the climbing to the top of the volcano scene. I don't think it was as good as the first and maybe a bit better than the second. The real travesty of the movie was the fifteen minutes of commercials followed by twenty minutes of movies coming out in summer 2004, looks like a bad summer for movies.
  3. Been a bad week how about a Bombay Sapphire Martini, dirty and extra dry. With a Piraat please!
  4. Doesn't everybody have a gassy rectifier? I bought a Scott from someone on the forum and since Ryan is in the same town and knows a lot about scott amps I emailed him for a suggestion.
  5. As in I took the old fuse that blew out and there were no markings on it so I don't know the volts or amps. I should have been more clear.
  6. What would be the best fuse for a scott 222c?
  7. I'm a fan. My favorite song is Allison. I bet there kids will be able to sing and write.
  8. I think that the difference between macallen 12 and 18 is probably very subtle and not worth the extra price. But I don't want to start another flame war!!
  9. Macallan 12 is better than a bottle of robitussenDM I hear!
  10. What's 10-7 ten hours seven day a week?
  11. I think I'll try that. You were right Tom it's a huge improvement over SS.
  12. As far as I know the tubes are four russian power tubes(7189), the two original scott splitters, two telefunken 12ax7's and two bogen/mullard 12ax7's. All I know is that they sound great! Does anybody know how the old a/b inputs to the amp correspond to the L/R of the new equipment. I think I have them right, but I just want to be sure! Yes I do believe that I'm hooked!
  13. Just thought I'd post a little review. I received my first tube amp today, a scott 222C/Mobley modified. I hooked it up and was amazed. I can't believe how clear and crisp the amp sounded through the la scala's. It really made some of my cd's sound like remixes. I've only been listening for an hour and I see how the amp improves as it warms up.
  14. Happiness is knowing that there are people in your life willing to help you when you need it and being able to help others when they need it also.
  15. I went tubes out of curiosity. I happened into this forum because I bought a pair of Ind. La Scalas for almost nothing and wanted some information. I ended up buying a 730 HK because of what was said in the two channel forum and also because it was inexpensive. The difference between that older HK and my almost new Sherwood was incredible. So when I hear the same people say how much better the tube amps are I have to listen. I bought the amp from another forum member and It's in transit from Arizona. Plus Tube glow is the ultimate mood lighting.
  16. I should be getting my new, and first ever, tube amp (scott 222C) in the mail soon and was wondering if some manufacturers tubes were better for different styles of music.
  17. A skeleton walks into a bar. He says "I'll have a beer and a mop"
  18. Whatever it is it just was mauled by a wolverine!!
  19. I thought I would add a bit more information to my intial post. I just bought my first tube amp, a 222-c from another forum member and don't think my Sony five disc will cut it any more. I have a room that is almost a perfect square with ten foot ceilings. I have la scala speakers. I thought the speakers sounded great with my old sherwood, but after reading post on here I bought an HK 730 and the difference was astounding. I figure the same with the Scott. The only other thing that needs(?) to be updated is my cd player. I narrowed it down to these two cd players and knew forum members wouldn't be afraid to give me their two cents. I listen to alot of Bluegrass but have been getting into jazz since I got this system, go figure. I hope this helps
  20. If you had a choice between these two which would it be? I don't hear much about the Tjoeb, but some swear by it.
  21. Does anyone use a tuner with their tube amp and if so what type?
  22. I know I shouldn't be posting this, but I have some almonds with a blue diamond on the can. Can this be related??
  23. Yeah I guess if you visit this forum enough you will end up with a scott. Looking foreward to getting it.
  24. A friend of mine came over to my house today with his jolida amp. I have been powering my speakers with an hk 730, a marked improvement from my old sherwood. I have read about tubes on this forum since I bought my speakers so when he offered to let me listen I was all for it. The difference between the two was amazing. I knew there would be a difference, but not such a large one. The music just sounded so much more real. I don't know if that's the adjective, but that's how it seemed to me. I'm looking for that kind of sound and now know that I need a tube amp.
