  1. haha the HT belongs to my dad, whatever system he uses does't bothers me
  2. specify what heat problem are u talking about. All amps is going to get warm when working, there's nothing wrong with it. Go for creative since u likes them. don't waste everyone's time here.
  3. then why do u wann to buy a 4.1 system in the first place?
  4. what do u mean by the older 4.1? do u mean the V.2-400?
  5. 007, seems like you don't understand what this topic is about. it says adding a center to a "4.1" system. If you wanna say use a 5.1 sub, might as well i'll just get a true 5.1 system
  6. My new 4.1's came with rubber feet. I don't believe refurb units come with rubber feet. My friend got some new 2.1's. They looked brand new as well, it's just that he didn't get rubber feet. since you said your friend got some new 2.1, of course they look brand new
  7. sony's reciever is better. samsung sounds crap
  8. samsung sound crap. just add in a little and get a sony, sony is a better deal
  9. do you mean only the tweeter is working but not the driver?
  10. opps it's my mistake. i mean the Audigy 2 ZS, not the original audigy 2. whatsup, it's true that the 5.1DD ofers connectivity to devices, but it also offers DAC decording of DTS and dolby digital signal. The output offers on the 5.1DD are 3 pairs of RCA jack(rear, front, sub/center), for the use of analog speakers. catsfelix, it's not nessary to get a digital speaker for eg. ADA890 or Z680 unless you wanna plug in a DVD player directly into the speaker without the use of your soundcard. For better connectivity, get the audigy 2 ZS platinum models. They allow you to connect digital audio device(eg. PS2, DVD players) and offers DAC to the signal. plug in an analog speaker to the soundcard and there you go with DTS and dolby digital audio
  11. Question-- sorry but what is DAC device and what is DTS? do they use a different decoder with Dolby? when the movie is played, can we use those 2 sound formats at once (dolby & DTS)? if we hv a speaker that has a decoder built in (dolby, dts) and our sound card is also support it, will the sound get crash? or.. if i hv a built in decoder speaker, do i still need a sound card like Creative Audigy? DAC stands for "digital-analog-convertion". digital sound comes in the form of CDs, DVD, mp3 and midi, where analog are VCRs and cassette tapes. speakers that supports digital input will have either the SPDIF, Otical or Coaxial input. while analog speakers will use the minijacks and RCA jacks. For example if you are playing a CD on a pc using an analog speaker, then the DAC of your soundcard is in used. If you are connecting a analog device to the soundcard when you are using a digital speaker, then the ADC(analog-digital-convertion) will be used. Dolby Digital and DTS are two difference kind of digital sound format. they are used in movies today for a more acurate and better surround sound. But DTS is much better than Dolby Digital in term of quality and accuracy. some dvd only have supports dolby digital audio while some supports both dolby digital and DTS. dolby digital and DTS is not possible to be used together and you will not wanna use it together. it'll sounds like having two source of audio playing together..argh... since the audigy 2 supports both dolby digital and DTS, i don't see the means in buying the klipsch 5.1DD. some says the klipsch 5.1DD does improves the quality, you can buy it if you want it, it's all up to you to decide whether you wanna spend the extra bucks for the better quality. Of course you can use both 5.1DD and DTS enabled soundcard together. but the DAC on the 5.1DD will be wasted. even if you are using a speaker with decorder, it just means that you have one more DAC in your speaker system, speakers are recieving analog signal anyway. The cables you using to connect the satalites to the amplifier are actually sending analog signal. Sound in real-life are analog Hope that helps you
  12. nope, your sound card is already a DAC device. Unless u need to decode DTS singnal, then i think the 5.1DD is needed
  13. the 4.1 is not being produced anymore my friend, promedia 4.1 is already under classic speaker
  14. i believe it is possible to add an additional sub, i'm planning to add a SWS to my 4.1 too. not because of louder bass, but better quality bass
  15. DeanG What would be cool is a horn loaded sub. from what i know, sub woofer are non directional, so what the point of horn loading it? pls correct me if i'm wrong
  16. by the way, i'm planning to add a SWS to my present promedia 4.1. anyone know whether there'll be an 230V version SWS avaliable on the market?
  17. hi all, anyone knows will there be a 230V version SWS available on the market? thanks
  18. you are the one who asked for help, why are you asking us to cool? Is there any problem with my words?
  19. this'll never be possible, if this can be done, why would klipsch made the PM5.1? If you wan a 5.1, why do u wanna get a PM4.1 in the first place
  20. to MD1032, the way you speak is as though you are a pro, even if you wanna correct me, use a better manner. I use the PM4.1 for music as well and i place the rear sats high on the wall behind me, i do not like switching on all my sats when listening to music as they are creating some kinda unnessary echos. place your rear sats on the wall high up and you'll know. the way you are placing your rear sat you are not going to enjoy a proper surround sound. For me, my rear sats are only used in movies and game, other than that, it's often "shut-up". the dual 6.5" driver of the PM4.1 is only going to increase the volume of the bass, but can't go lower frequency than the 8" driver. The larger the woofer driver, the lower the frequency can be be hit. surround speakers are not ment to be uses for music, maybe for techno or dance. klipsch produced the PM4.1 with gamers in mind
  21. regarding whether the SWS is going to overpower the sats, it gonna depends on the kinda music you are listening to, the bass level of the SWS can be adjusted to your likely anytime, so it's not gonna have a problem. Like i said, the SWS is using a 8" driver, therefor it can handle lower frequency much better than the 6.5" woofer driver found in the PM2.1 and PM4.1. Getting two PM2.1 may improve in the quantity, but not the quality of the mid range. But in adding a SWS, it'll sure improve the bass respond in term of quality and quantity....em.. sweet. Anyone with different point of views please speak up
  22. did't you read catsfelix's question? Whats the point of buying surround speaker for use in music? using the promedia 4.1 in music is a waste of money as the amp is not going to get the woofer to drive efficeiently due to the woofer being shared by the rear channel. By adding a SWS to the 2.1, the bass will be much more better than using a 4.1 in music listening. With the 8" driver of the SWS, it can handle lower frequency better then the 4.1's dual 6.5" driver. And btw no one bother whether what speaker you are getting..
  23. this set-up looks great, excellent for music lovers who wants tons of bass. please keep us update hows your system doing
