    Palladium

Congrats on your purchase! That is going to be one impressive system! Wow, I'm floored. 7.2, eh? I haven't read this anywhere but I assume that the Palladium subs have the room correction feature on them similar to the RT-12d? I am curious how that works with a pair of subs. Post some pics after the system is installed. I second the Florida pilgrimmage idea. BTW, keep me in mind if/when you decide to get rid of your RB-75s.
  2. So have you been gloating out there in Avs country, gonzp? []
  3. We'd love to have you up here in our neck of the woods, oldtimer. You would be able to witness some truly exceptional hockey.
  4. The rule change was instituted after the Florida fans started throwing THOUSANDS of the rats onto the ice after the team scored a goal. The cleanup often took several minutes which started to have an impact on the game so the league implemented this rule. Unfortunately it also affected the Wings.
  5. Game three tonight @ 10pm Eastern. This should be the most entertaining of the three as it is a must-win for the Avs. I'm hopeful that the Wings have learned some lessons from their series against the Predators and don't ease up for this one. It sounds like Peter Forsberg will be playing tonight, provided that he feels up to speed at game-time. BTW, most of the octupi thown onto the ice are boiled prior to the game which eliminates the mess when they hit the ice. It's unfortunate that the league has again cracked down on this famous tradition.
  6. Congratulations, Damon. Best wishes to your whole family.
  7. Duuuuude!!! Nice score! Congrats on the new bike, now let's hear all about it...
  8. Thanks for the detailed instructions, Greg. They are much appreciated. It turns out that I won't be shipping them as the estimates I received for shipping totaled $360 for boxes and $390 for a crate. I have no idea how your quote came in that low as the weight I provided (to the local Postal Depot) was 16 pounds lighter (although one of my dimensions would have been around 8" wider). After I obtained the quotes we decided that it was just too expensive to ship them properly and the buyer subsequently found a pair about three hours away. The buyer is a great guy and I encouraged him to take that deal; how could he pass it up? Anyway, thanks for the help to everyone who posted. I really need to figure out what happened with the wide margin of difference in the shipping quote you posted and the one I received locally.
  9. First of all, welcome to the forum!!! That is a killer system for sure. I know that you can order it in a number of different configurations (single or dual subs, surround options, etc). Which way did you go?
  10. Why are we lucky? Competitive games are the best! Edmonton has always been a formidable foe. It's a shame they didn't cut-the-mustard this year at 88 points with 44 wins. It looks like Colorado is next in our future. Hey Patrick: GOT TICKETS?? I've still got some air miles!! LOL -Glenn DKP: I see, David. Riots in Montreal. That's too bad. Glenn, If you are serious, I will look for tickets!!! They pulled out a squeeker!!! why is it that the Wings don't continue to attack the goal when they have a lead? They need to finish a team off. Had they have won by three goals, they would have been in Colorado's head. All of the locals here were wishing for Detroit rather than Dallas. Excellent question! They did the same thing in the Nashville series and started playing defense-only for the last, what, half of the third period? Maybe they're trying to boost ratings??? lol I thought Osgood played a great game. He could be faulted on one of the goals but had no chance on at least one of the other two. They played some of the highlights from some of the previous series on Sportscenter this morning. Lots of memories!
  11. I am the other forum member who will be shipping these from MI to FL. Is it the general consensus that shipping these via freight would be the optimal method for pricing? The primary concern is cost and safe arrival, not timeliness. We are looking into a few options right now. Obviously proper packaging will be crucial no matter which way we elect to ship. There are a few ways to do this, each offering its own positives and negatives. One, I can try to locate boxes of similar size to the speakers and ship them this way. The most difficult aspect of this will be finding boxes of the proper size. Two, I can find boxes of similar size to the speakers and secure them to a pallet. Proper packaging would be most crucial on the bottom of the boxes and getting the sizes right would be of less concern here. Three, I can construct a crate (from plywood or osb). I would be interested in reading opinions on which of these methods is likely to be most cost effective and provide the best protection for the speakers.
  12. Interesting, bigdaddy. I don't know much about the profitability of audio/video shops. I would guess it depends upon the local market/economy, although the internet dealers are now competing in every marketplace.
  13. This thread got me wondering about how many forum members have given serious thought to opening/buying an audio (or audio/video) dealership and whether or not the competition from the online (authorized and unauthorized dealers) would be a detriment to carrying the Klipsch (or other) brand. Competition from the big box stores would surely come into play as well, although the markets are a bit different.
  14. Spicy food is where it's at, especially Thai! I had a Mesquite chicken sub today at Quizno's. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM bacon!
  15. How does it sound at lower volumes? Ummm, quieter! [] It sounds great at low volumes. I would have a hard time finding fault with this amp other than like bhenry mentioned, it does draw a ton of juice. I run a trigger between the pre-amp and the amp so the amp power switch is always in the "on" position (although it's not drawing much juice) and then it powers up with the pre-amp. I believe that this method keeps the "reserves" of the amp full so that it doesn't draw nearly as much current when it powers up via the trigger as it would by simply turning it on. When I first got it into my rack I was simply turning it on when I was using it. I tripped the circuit a few times and then switched to the trigger and haven't tripped it since. I don't believe that there is much difference beyond cosmetics between the amp you are looking at and the current Reference 200.5 S2 version other than the individual channel gain controls on the back.
  16. I have the B&K Reference 7270 which is most likely identical to the 7250 but with an extra two channels. It is powering my RF-7s and sounds fantastic. I've never heard a Rotel amp on Klipsch so I am not much use to you in that regard but the B&K works very well in my setup. If you are in MI you would be welcome to come by and listen. My amp is built like a tank and has a gain control on the back for each channel. It runs fairly hot so you will want to have a fair amount of ventilation around it.
  17. Yes, we would have a problem with it. If we do not know the seller, we cannot attest to their integrity and how well they would represent the brand. A dealer must apply to have an account set up with us, and we evaluate them as we would any employee. I'm completely in the dark about the legal aspects or what the options are to prevent it, but it's certainly not something we like to see. Thanks for the reply, Amy. That is exactly what I expected but leads me to a bit of confusion. I am curious as to why Klipsch would offer an authorized dealership to a previously unauthorized dealer? I'm sure that I am getting a bit out of your area of expertise but it's troubling for me to see Klipsch stating that these unauthorized dealers are a problem and going after the dealers who are supplying them, only to offer the unauthorized dealer a legitimate dealership. I am speaking specifically of acousticsounddesign. They used to offer Klipsch merchandise after removing the serial numbers in order to deter Klipsch from tracking the authorized dealer who sold to them and are now a legitimate dealership. I realize that some members of the forum have made purchases from them and have been quite satisfied and I am not addressing the quality of their dealership at all. Rather, I am looking at this from the perspective of a legitimate dealership who plays by the rules and sees this sort of thing happening. It must be troubling at the very least and likely even entices them to follow suit.
  18. Amy, If you get the chance to reply to my question posted earlier in this thread I would love to read the answer. (in case you missed the post) Thanks!
  19. Think Detroit back in the day after they won a championship and you will have an idea. Burned and otherwise damaged police cars and that mob-mentality driving many to vent their excitement by damaging property. It's unfortunate to see this sort of thing and even surprising after a first round win.
  20. Yer killin' me, Smalls! I had a Hickory Smoked Thick Bacon Steakburger at Steak n Shake on Friday. Oh my! *drool*
  21. The Montreal fans were exceptional during the game. It's unfortunate what happened afterwards. Tim Thomas, a fellow Davisonian, played very well in the series. Congrats to him on a well deserved year in the "bigs" and best wishes next year.
  22. Amy, Does Klipsch have a problem with the internet dealers who are buying inventory from authorized dealers and then selling the merchandise online? If so, would you mind discussing on the rationale behind this? I know that some of these dealers have gone so far as to offer their own in-house sort of warranty since the product would no longer be covered by the manufacturer's warranty. These online dealers are most certainly driving the margins of the brick and mortar shops down. As the products offered by the legitimate online dealers become more readily available this may only become more problematic for the b&m shops in the future.
  23. My apologies for the image quality of a few of these pics.
