  1. the big hype of that movie is that the only thing real about it are the actors. The film is entirely shot on blue screen (though without digital cameras) by this director who created the software in his basement/garage. How he got those actors and that kinda money to make this film should speak volumes of what he's going to present us with. I hope it turns out well. I've been waiting for another 30's serial-type movie for a while.
  2. Creative DDTS-100 a 'suitable' replacement in the meantime. i thought it was alright, but with analog inputs like cable tv and stuff, the upmix just doesn't really cut it. i never heard the klipsch version however, but creative is just alright.
  3. ahhhhh now i get you. i thought you were talking about just hooking up the player to the inputs on the decoder, not straight in place of the computer audio source. in that case, well, i have no counter-argument
  4. the signal still has to go through the decoder before it gets to the speakers, so if the ddts-100 can't decode the signal, i don't see how the converter is going to help. plus, that box you displayed from the ddts-100 is only used to switch the source of the speakers between the decoder box and your pc (the cables in the rear end are the outputs from the decoder box)
  5. i believe there are region-free dvd players out there. maybe not the high quality ones we all know and love. however, i'm quite certain that computer dvd players are region free

    Conspiracy

The movie Max with John Cusack is another notable flick who's plot center's around adolf hitler before his career in politics took off. A very very pretentious movie albeit, but ultimately intoxicating when we see how closely adolf's future could have been in Art instead of Politics.
  7. i think LXG would have been better should it remain loyal to the original graphic novel, where, amoung other things, connery would have been a opium addict. i believe it's the same graphic novelist who illustrated the book that was adapted into the movie From Hell. While FH wasn't especially gory, it very much retained the grit from the graphic novels as it was translated to screen. LXG looked cool on screen, but i don't think it kept much in key other than its comic book style action. Stephen Norrington is also a notable director with a very stylish ... style. I don't take summer action flicks seriously, neither should you. They're meant to be fun, not fundamental.

    S.W.A.T

heeh other than some of the most horrid dialogue and cheeky acting that i've seen in a long time, it was a pleasant watch. the gunshots were definately worth attention. they packed a lot of punch.
  9. and that connector with the G9 label beside it, what's that one?
  10. sweet...i thought it was going to require something alone those lines.
  11. sorry about that amy, i'm out of an internet connection at home for a few weeks while i'm in the process of moving, or rather, settling in. thanks for the pic gonzo.. where exactly does the pm 5.1 stereo jacks fit into this device?
  12. pffff you don't even know sick and demented until you watch House of a 1000 Corpses...the climax will stick with you forever.
  13. nope, but checked out the new Incubus cd - Crow Left of The Murder - and it sucked.
  14. does anyone have or know of any pics concerning the inputs/ouputs of this device? i've found a retailer in canada that sells these near toronto (7 hours from here), but the only pictures i've found online are showing the front. i just wanted to get an image of what the hook ups are like. thanks.

    I Robot

i have a lot of faith in director Alex Proyas to deliver a satisfying film with an equally respectable story. after all, The Crow and Dark City are amoung a great class of films. ...of course the fx will garner acclaim on their own..i mean look at those robots!! shhhiate.
  19. hrm...i can't say it was more than pop in and play. this be some kinda special dts...have no clue why it wouldn't work
  20. i've only got 1 dts audio cd, and that's portishead - live in NY. i too had trouble finding a player that would handle the audio format. the only one that worked for me was the dvd-audio player that was bundled with my audigy 2 zs. i will take a look to see what kind of codec you need to get that playing in regular apps.

---------------- You ever see those bands on mtv or whatever and their playing this slow **** and their thrashing around like their freaking slayer or something. That makes me want to just freakin strangle them. ---------------- HAHAHAHAHA that's soooo true! Some of them have the most laid-back, pussied out riffs with the slowest drumming in the back and the video makes it look like they're bringing down the house. I find that on a lot of korn-ish bands nowadays. Thank god i don't watch mtv..it's just downright shameful. They're all about as metal as Avril Lavigne is punk rawk.
  23. well i know of the director, who did trainspotting and the beach. so for this flick, he really did switch genres big time to the zombie/horror style. yes, they weren't zombies, but cool enough. i thought the acting was pretty good. as was the remoteness of the whole movie. no populations, utter silence. that and the digital photography looked cool except for the fire. yeah that whole alterna-ending shebah was garbage. i actually loved the 3rd act. especially when selena thinks jim has the rage after he thumb-corks the last militants eye sockets..which is truely an amazing death sequence. music was kinda cool too...very eerie. not THE BEST horror, but best in the last while for sure. lest someone can name be a better.
  24. yeah just saw hellboy preview on tv last night....WOW...now that has instantly captured my attention. anyone heard of sky captain and the world of tomorrow? take a at that on the www.imdb.com, check out the trailer if you can, tell me that doesn't have a good feel.
