That's a detailed profile. What kind of RUG do you have in your living room? Anyways, I have genuwine, made in America, La-Z-Boy reclining sofa and huge overstuffed recliner. I don't need none of that there fancy-dancy eye-talian stuf in my house by gum!
  2. Guys, it was not really my intention to 'bash' Klipsch - I love Klipsch - in December I just spent $1300 on Klipsch products. And the SVS in question is 50% more expensive than my Klipsch AND I was thinking of using my RW-12 to trade UP to new Klipsch mains. And it's not like I'm the first person to say good things about SVS here - I've seen dozens of similar posts in the archive. However, I'm usually better educated about my purchases before I make them. At my area dealer, an RSW-12 is $1099 and the RSW-15 is $1399. However, from the reviews I've read since I bought my RW-12 last month, it seems clear that the SVS has significantly more output in the critical <25hz region than even the RSW-15 - it has a bigger enclosure and more driver surface area - hard to beat the laws of physics when it comes to bass in the sub-audible zone. And what I want is STRONG output at 20 cycles or so for the newer DVD's Soooooo, how do the newer Klipsch mains stack up against the older heritage speakers like the Cornwalls?

I've never heard 'heritage' Klipsch speakers.
  4. Actually, I'm pretty sure this model is new - I only recall the PB2 Plus as the cheapest Dual Woofer SVS subwoofer. This has the same enclosure as the PB2 Plus, but it has less power (600 watts vs 900) and the drivers are different. It's also $300 less than the PB2 Plus
  5. Hey, EAR, this looks like an AWESOME deal. http://www.svsubwoofers.com/subs_pb2_isd.htm To think I paid $600 for my RW-12 when for a couple hundred more I could have TWICE the POWER, TWICE the Enclosure size, and TWICE the Radiating area! Dammit, I should have waited!! I hate to admit it, but I've developed a sick craving for bass, bass and more BASS!!! lol!!! Now I'm thinking of selling my month old RW-12, and upgrading, OR just buying the SVS, and taking my RW12 back to the dealer to apply towards some new main Klipsch Speakers to replace my 12 year old Pinnacle PN8+'s. Which brings up another question - I would then need a recommendation for a Klipsch main speaker! Is the new stuff the way to go, or should I start lookin' for Heritage stuff like the Cornwalls?

He (the cat) bit her (this is about 8 PM), and it started hurting more and more, and at about 4 AM (I got home from work at 2 AM), she comes into my room and tells me we need to go to the hospital (where she works), in about 8 hours, the bite just got out of control! Anyway, she is totally fine, and drugged , but it is amazing what a freaking house cat can do to you. I guess Kimono Dragon's are not that big of a deal compared to a cat. Anyone else have similar experiences? Again, we have had this cat for a year, and he just freaked out because there was another cat about 10 feet away from him (a stray that is aggressive) and wanted to get outside at all costs. He's still a good kitty ---------------- I had a similar experience with my cat 'Spot' about 11 years ago. Spot was a big tom - about 18 lbs in his prime. He was an indoor cat, but he did NOT like other cats coming around the outside of the house. One warm night, with the windows open, another cat was yowling outside, which drew the attention of Spot and my other cat, Lucky. Lucky was the first one to the window, and then something must have 'clicked' in old Spot's head, that associated the strange sound with Lucky, because he tore into Lucky with a real passion. So I kicked him, as gently as possible, away from Lucky, who beat a retreat, and then Spot came after ME, jumping high into the air, and trying to bite me on the hands and arms with a really 'weird', vicious expression on his face. I had jumped up from reading book in hand, so I instinctively 'whapped' him atop the head with the paperback in self-defense - that finally brought him 'back to his senses' and went back to being his normal, quiet self. But I could have easily ended up with a nasty bite or two And any carnivore's bite is dangerous - decaying meat particles between the teeth and all greatly increase the risk of infection. .

My buddy threw the cat out into the back yard and emptied both barrels of a 12 guage on him. Wasn't even enough left to bury. Said he couldn't even find parts. Nothing dumber than a kitten,---------------------cept a red-neck with a 12 guage. ---------------- Let's hope the baby or girlfriend never irritate him to the extent that the poor kitten did. What a lowlife! You said 'had a buddy' in the past tense. It's always a wise choice to disassociate oneself from people of that 'quality'

Did you get more pics before running the price up sky high? A shipping/handling quote? As Chris stated, you should buy only when you can see/audition the item first. You did the local bidder in KS a big favor by buying out from under him/her. You can feel good about that. Maybe your luck will be better with the 233 that you paid that ridiculous price for. I paid $80 for mine. People should wait and buy in their area, if possible. Saves lots of headaches. And is considerate of other local bidders who have wisely waited around for speakers in their area. Keep smilin'. Keith ---------------- Cut the poor guy some slack. Sheesh. Do you have an axe to grind here or what? ---------------- It might not have been stated 'diplomatically', but Keith was spot-on about a few things; 1. On Ebay, a lack of closeup photos by an experienced seller (as this one is) is very suspicious - it may simply mean that the seller's camera is incapable of close-up shots, or it might mean something more nefarious. The failure of said seller to provide close ups of the exterior when requested is DOUBLY suspicious, as it sounds like close ups of the INTERIOR were provided, implying he in fact has the capability. 2. I would recommend, for any large purchase such as this, to make sure the seller is within driving distance. Then, only provide a deposit thru Paypal, Bidpay, or whatever, with the balance provided on pickup. OR, insist that the items be shipped COD, so you can inspect before accepting/purchasing. A general rule of thumb in all sales - Never fall in love with a deal. If the price is too high, or something doesn't seem on the level, walk away. Hindsight is 20-20. Obviously the above doesn't help Smilin' with his current problem, but it might help future bidders. I've bought a lot of good stuff on Ebay, but I've done it cautiously. The weird thing is - this seller has tons of positive feedback - that's usually the first thing I look for. If this seller wants to keep his clean record, he'll take them back!! Smilin', you said you bought these speakers thru Paypal; You've paid a premium price at this point - I can't see sinking hundreds into fixing/restoring these speakers - sounds like more trouble than its worth. Try a couple more times to contact the seller for a refund - if he won't respond get Paypal after the seller - he's a very active seller, and can't afford hassles with Paypal!!! They'll pursue him for you!! Everyone has been burned by a purchase now and then. Try not to let it get you down!! Good luck!!
  9. Make sure you have power. The LED will either be red or green, but it will be on!!! Make sure the MAIN power switch is turned on (think you said it is, though) But again, the LED will be on - Red means no signal (Sub in energy saving suspend mode) Green means ready to go Also, DON'T forget to turn the volume control on the right side UP! It's funny, I didn't even notice the volume control for about an hour after I installed mine (black blends in with the black cabinet) Luckily, it was turned 3/4ths of the way up - if yours is all the way down, you'll get virtually zero output from the sub. If the power, and volume are adjusted, and still no sound, read below... How did you connect the RW-12? Does the Onkyo have an LFE or subwoofer output or did you use speaker wire and the post connections? IF you're running a patch cord to the LFE, and the above suggestions don't help, try switching from the LFE to the INPUT, and then turn your Lowpass control all the way to 120 hz to maximize output from the subwoofer (generally not desirable for long term listening)- just to see if it is indeed working!!! If you connect to the LFE, the RW-12's Lowpass is bypassed and does not function. Also, usually most Home theater receivers/amps have a means to adjust the relative levels of the various speakers - on my Dynaco, subwoofer level ranges from -10 to +10 Turn the subwoofer level up and then test! Just be careful with your main volume control, though. I must say though, that I've not been able to overdrive the RW-12 - it goes to a certain volume level and that's it - the benefit of an integrated amplifier/speaker system.
  10. As of 1:50 pm, on Jan 9, the Crazy Eddie site is STILL down. Very interesting

You'd think Crazy Eddie could have just deleted the Klipsch section and left the bulk of the site intact - they only sell about 50 other brands! I'm glad I invested last month in Klipsch products - I'm glad to see a company putting quality before quantity. Cleve

    A Bose story

---------------- On 1/5/2004 11:25:34 PM TheEAR wrote: Why not a Klipsch/Aragon store Or a Dynaudio/Krell store ---------------- Hey, what's wrong with Bose? Paul Harvey says they're great! I've an interesting Bo$e tale to share - A good friend and his wife were interested in purchasing a Bose Wave Radio as a mutual Christmas gift. I just started reading these forums in mid-December with the purchase of my RW-12 sub (which is now complimented by an RC-25 and RS-25 surrounds, BTW) I'd read here about the Tivoli radio, so I mentioned it to my buddy and suggested he find a dealer and give it an audition. As soon as he heard one, he bought it! He loves the sound, thinking its better than a Wave Radio. So, score 1 for Quality Audio, score 0 for Bo$e

    What Sub

---------------- On 12/27/2003 12:09:21 AM easylistener wrote: I think you are getting the lines mixed up. The rsw is the best sub line Klipsch makes. The rw are the new subs they are making and the ksw are the older ones. The RSW12 will be like two or three rw12's. The ksw15 will not even come close to the rsw12 in sound quility and punch. I wasn't a big fan of the ksw15 way to boomy. ---------------- Actually, I'm not confusing the lines. I understand the KSW is the 'Best Buy' low end line. When I visited my local Klipsch authorized dealer, the dealer told me that the RW line was superior to the KSW line, and that the RW12 would have actually MORE bass output than the larger KSW-15. You say the RSW-12 has actually two or three times the output of the RW-12? Does anyone have metrics/test results to substantiate this? If it indeed is a vastly superior speaker, I can (and probably will) trade up the RW-12 to the RSW-12. But its hard to give a big subwoofer a thorough workout in a dealer showroom I would think. So that's why I'd like to see some numbers that back this up. Cleve

    What Sub

---------------- On 12/26/2003 5:46:51 PM easylistener wrote: There is a huge differnce between the rsw12 and the rw12. The rsw12 is a way better sub and you will hear the differnce. ---------------- A mere ten days ago I purchased my very first Klipsch speaker, an RW-12 to compliment my 10 year old plus Pinnacle PN8+'s, and to replace the passive Pinnacle sub I had been using. The salesman at the audio store told me that the RW-12 would have more bass than the larger KSW-15. And the store offers a 1 year 'trade up' policy, so if I want better, I can always pay the difference. So, my question is... how much more output does the RSW12 have over the RW-12 ? How much more output does the RSW-15 have over the RSW-12? I.e., dbs at 30 hz @ X %thd or however best to quantify such things? Thanks for the help. Cleve
