  1. I picked up the Rolling Stones "Four Flicks" DVD today. It is actually four DVDs; a documentary, an arena show, a stadium show, and a theatre show. It was recorded on their 2002/2003 tour. The sound and video quality is quite good. I especially liked "Wild Horses" from the stadium disc. Keith plays the 12-string on this track and the sound is very clean. Having seen the Stones three times, these discs bring back memories (although some are kind of fuzzy!). Another good DVD is Edgar Winter featuring Leon Russell "Live on Stage". This one was recorded in 1988 at a small venue in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The last track is "Frankenstein" and Edgar is incredible. The sound is good on this disc with the exception of the surround channels which at times are a little weak and perhaps distorted or not very clear.
  2. If I were in your shoes, I would sell the Gift Card and buy a pair of Heresy's off of Ebay. This would get you started in the Klipsch Heritage line. You would never be disappointed. My subjective opinion of course.
  3. I stayed away from here for one evening and look what I missed!! I'm here. How can I leave now, I just got a NOSValves Scott 299D this week (that's another story for another post). Does that make me a cockroach? Yikes!

If it is anything like the excellent brew that you brought this year, we will not be disappointed.
  5. Out in front of the Jazz Kitchen (the Jazz Lady still going at it inside). Craig and Paul, Sheltie Dave holding Liam. Piranha seated.
  6. Interesting. The music has caused an extra set of arms to sprout up out of Steven Konopa shoulders!
  7. We tried this for a while. Improved the imaging (those are vertical Cornwalls), but it killed the low frequency. I think that is Gary in the corner (what were you doing back there?)
  8. Dean tweeking the placement of Trey's Cornwalls to get just the right imaging
  9. AudioDad (left) and me (right) with AudioDad's "new" Scott 299D NOSValves rebuild. (Hey bro, if you get tired of those tubes, I'll give them a good home!)
  10. For the benefit of those who were not at the Jazz Club (and to bring back horrible memories to those who were there) the "Jazz Lady" is the one seated to the right of the sax player.

  12. I wonder what the band members were thinking? It must have been humiliating to see the audience walking out in droves before their eyes, knowing that they could have been performing a show that we would have enjoyed.
  13. Wow, what a great weekend! Some of my personal highlights: - Meeting everybody in person - Craig's amps with the Blueberry - 118 dB at 3:00am - Damon's brew!! - The Engineering labs at Klipsch - Going to Roger's place (a special thanks to Roger for being a great host!) - The Beatnik lady (NOT! )
  14. Those look great. Will we get to hear them Friday evening in Indy?
  15. My all time favorite in DFW was KZEW. It's been over 10 years since they went away. The "Zew" often played "deep cuts" which were the songs other than the 1st track on an album, the less played stuff, not just the most popular tracks that we get tired of hearing over and over.
  16. I was sorry to see the demise of the Eagle. They rocked DFW for many years. It seems that there should have been room on the FM dial for that pre-programmed Sunny stuff while leaving KEGL alone. But I suppose the Finance MBAs had different ideas.
  17. I was in Best Buy last week and walked into one of their HT rooms where they had a budget grade JBL system on one side of the room and a Bose system on the other (both systems came in at around $2K with receiver). The JBL system simply blew away the Bose which sounded like high frequency distortion on top of low frequency distortion. Everything is relative.
