  1. you re not talking all alone what you ve noticed is quite amazing: a compressed sound is better than the original source. don t you think it s quite strange?

They sound great and you do not need to take a high end approach to enjoy these even though many of us do. As far as the "wife" thing goes, a smaller Reference series speaker will give you better responce than a larger Synergy speaker will. As I said before, your wallet will be lighter and that's where each person has to make the decision that is best for them. Trey...still interested in your answer. ---------------- i want to put a stress on the fact that synergy are really a very good compromise between the price they cost and the sound they produce. for some people a product from the synergy line is enough, even is they can pay for a pair of RF7. and i think that if you don t feed the reference line with some matching high end product, you won t have the best of them.
  3. may be because when we drive, we should look at the road more often then at the radio
  4. is a ducati monster a bycicle? if it is a ride a lot and on very long distances

  6. i am here but...i don t really understand what you re talkink about. can you re explain it to me?
  7. i was talking about the dual-concentric driver design that cleve introduce when talking about tannoy you post too fast for me, in the time it took to me to think in english you post 20 time!!
  8. the french brand cabasse do this too.
  9. if he pay a klipsch 80% of its real price, a synergy speaker will always be cheaper than a reference one trey may earn not enought money from klipsch it s a joke. I think in audio it don t worth to buy the better speakers of the word if you cannot see the difference from some wich are twice cheaper. furthermore to get the better sound of a high end speakers you must have a high end from speakers to receiver incuding wire... so to enjoy a high end speakers i think it will cost much more money than a cheaper speaker. last but not least, each speakers are not designed for the same thing.for exemple, if you only watch movie or listen to music with your family in your living room, some good speakers from the synergy line and a good receiver will be enough to provide you a very good sound. and your wife won t scream because all your gear have taken all the free space in the house. but to enjoy totaly a refernece speaker, you may have to own a dedicated treated room for HT, with high end amp and preamp. in a nutshell i think the synergy line and the reference line are not designed for the same clients. it s only my opinion i bet trey have some better answers

Where as 7.1 adds left and right side channels. AS of right now 6.1 is the better way togo. But i would wait for 8.1 which would have both center rear and side left and right channels. ---------------- in fact in the 7.1 the two rear speakers are feed with only one channel.so the two rear speakers produce exactly the same sound. in a nutshell: 7.1 is 6.1 with a wider rear center .there is no extra channels in the 7.1!!

Can these speakers be the mains of an HT system with a small center, like my KEF Reference Model 90?! So far, I have to turn the Horns' level down to -9 and the Center to +10! ---------------- i think you should lower a little bit more the Khorns in order to have the kef center set to +0db. with the center set to +10db your amp may not be able to feed correctly the center(you may have these probleme:clipping, distortion)
  12. with a small sub it will more easy to hide it.
  13. if you want a small sub that works as a big one, look at the trus subwoofer serie from sunfire;-D some have almost the size of a KSW10 but they goes down to 16Hz!!!! for exemple the true sub super junior is 9" by 9" by 9" and produce sounds from 22 to 100Hz check at www.sunfire.com
  14. one day we will seat in a sphere with speakers all around to watch a movie
  15. yes, headphones are the only speakers that sounds as the constructor wanted it to sound because there is no room. so why not placing one Khorn on each side of our heads directly next to our ears
  16. ---------------- On 9/24/2004 3:51:18 AM michael hurd wrote: A one way driver as you suggest would not work. To produce low frequencies, with low distortion, you need a large piston diameter. The trouble is that as the frequencies increase, the wavelengths become comparable to the dimentions of the driver, then the sound becomes concentrated, and begins to beam. In other words, the polar response changes. Add to that fact that mass begins to work agains you, then you start to see why we have multiple drivers in a single enclosure. ---------------- your totaly right.it s very difficult to make a such speaker.but theoricaly it should be the better way to reproduce a sound. any way, some wide band speakers already exists.they cannot reproduce all sounds from 20 to 20khz in a good way for the moment, and as you said they have lots of trouble.(if i remember well, the main problem is the impedance wich is not linear at all and the phase which suddenly changes at some frequencies as you sais). i was not talkink about the headphone speakers.
  17. that why some people says the head phone is the better way to listen to stereo tracks: one unique way that reproduce sounds from 20 to 20000Hz, the room is perfectly known (it s your ears), so no room cancelation or resonance, a very low distortion because it don t need a lot of power... last but not least:no neighborgs(neighbourgs/neighbors i don t really know how this word should be writen, someone can help me?) or wife screaming when we listen to the music too loud only advantages
  18. i agree with you RFK. the only problem is that there are very few good wide band speakers that can reproduce sound fron 20 to 20000hz. with an only way, no crossover, and the sound comes from an unique source, like a real sound.
  19. if your home theatre room is not very large, 5.1 is enough. as said michael, 6.1 is cheaper and the 7.1 is nothing more than a 6.1 with two rear center speakers, the sound they will produce is the same.i think it worth going to the 7.1 only if you own a very large room.
  20. "The laws of physics are the laws of physics." i agree. theoricaly the 3 way should sound better. but don t forget that in a 3 way speaker the crossover are more difficult to make and there are more electrical components. an electrical component is never perfect, so the more components you intruduce in the crossover, the more difficulties to make a good crossover there are. and crossover is not the only problem, with more ways, the frame of the speaker is more difficult to make, it has to be more robust... in a nutshell, it s easier to make a good 2 way speaker. it means that if you have two speakers of the same price, one 2 way and one 3 way, the 2 way will always sound better.
  21. i just wanted to put a stress on the fact that synergy speakers are klipsch speakers and it means that they are good too. of course if you can buy a reference system and if you have the room to enjoy them you don t have to hesitate. it s an evidence that the reference line is better than hte synergy one
  22. the difference between the synergy line and the reference line is like the one between a porsche and a ferrari.one is better than the other but it don t means that the other is not good.and unfortunatly for us the better one is more expansive than the other.
  23. i own some synergy speakers and they sound good for the money they cost. if your room is not a dedicate room for HT they are good enough. of course they are not some reference speakers, so they have a lower sensitivity and they sound less loud than the reference.that s why reference are for larger room. any way even the synergy speaker have a better sensitivity than a lot of other speaker from other brands. be carrefull on the choice of your amp: klipsch speakers, even the synergy speakers, produce what you send to them, if you send a clean signal it sound very good, if you send to them a bad signal it sound very very bad. in a nutshell, most people here says that you should have heritage or reference instead of synergy, but if you don t want to spent a lot of money, synergy speaker are some very good speakers.
  24. you can try tu put some carpet on the floor, it may help with the marble floor.
  25. unfortunatly,it seems that the amp don t do his job very well
