  1. I will look into the Home theater master. I have been reading the reviews of both it , and the soon to be released Harmony 800 series with full color screen. The price is estimated to be comprable. Hard to believe these come usb ready and all is done from your pc. Thanks for the info .
  2. Im finally fed up with the table full of remotes! I was looking at some of the popular brands at the local Tweeter, but most were $4-500 plus they needed a macro job for another couple hundred. Just cant pay $800 for a remote. I was reading an article in S/V about the new Harmony 880 for about $250 ?(charging cradle and backlit) Do these universal remotes work well? Can I really replace all remotes with a universal? Obviously ive never tried one.
  3. He has just sent me some links to a Yam.rec. new for $399 and a set of speakers called Acoustic research 5.1for about $500. all from Tweeters web site. Dunno what to tell him ? Was there a link for that used system?
  4. I have been presented with a challenge by a friend. He wants to build a complete 5.1 system for music and movies with a budget just under $1000. I told him to just wait and save up more , but he says thats all he wants to spend. he sent me some links to a few HT in a box systems (onkyo, and sony) for around $600-$700 range, I didnt recomend them. I just dont think he will be happy, with the quality. Surely someone here has another solution. Is there anything out there with any quality for around that price? I told him to at least go with a 5.1 reciever under $500, then grab some RB75s, and a few satelites for surround. But that breaks the budget?
  5. Red Violin was an excellent movie
  6. Speaking of good sounding movies, I couldnt help but to notice how awesome the flight of the pheonix sounded. While the movie was average, i would have to say the sound was great. It kinda reminded me of the dogfight in pearl harbor.
  7. Well i picked one up and while they are on the pricey side I must say "nice chair" I would recomend anyone searching for the right HT seating for thier room to check these out. Thwy make love seats and couches too, that all recline, and the leather is world class.
  8. I havent put my grills on since I got the speakers. I mean if they didnt look so damn good and sexy with the copper color, I would more than likely not keep them off.
  9. The biggest short comings I have noticed with the RS7s (if any) would have to be the source material. Some movies and sound formats just flat out bring the house down, while others are just sound coming from the rears. I recently watched" Flight of the pheonix"and it was very impressive sound from a not so impressive movie.

    Ekornes

Hey guys ,I know we like to talk about the electronic end of the HT in all of its glory, but while searching for some nice comfy HT seating, I had a run in with a brand of furniture that I felt would look great in my HT called "Ekornes".I believe it was the most comfortable chair I have ever sat in. Just curious if anyone in the forums owns this brand, and how they are holdin up?
  11. LOL I have a 17x25 room and use 1 HSU stf2 10" sub and I feel it in my chest while sitting in the center of the room, watching movies. (Maybe I dont know what Im missing)?
  12. Or you can do what Im doing and spend as little as possible on a 5.1 reciever for now , then save up for the seperates that you know you will want in the future. One thing I have learned, is your HT is a work in progress , and I will more than likely never stop . I picked up a yam. RX-V 1400 7.1 770 watt for about $600 a year ago, so Im sure they are a bit less now for a similar model. That rec. sounds just fine for now with my RFs.
  13. Yamaha here , but not for sake of sound preference , but easy function and operation. I did not compare both in one store , but went to several stores for a demo. I could not notice a difference in the $700-$1000 range. Oh and I drive a Toyota and prefer the PC.
  14. I have a Yamaha receiver with its YPAO auto calibration , and though I cant say if its as good as the manual SPL meter technique, most installers I have spoken with say its right on. I have not had any issues with my RS7s.
  15. Well , I guess for me (as far as the Syn. vs Ref. debate) I had been chomping at the bit to gobble up a pair of synergys because my friend uses them in his HT. Then i caught word of a Ref line that I had not heard of before. Unfortunately I had to drive 3 hours to demo them. I went and came back a new man, the most incredible speakers I had ever heard. Im not rich by any means but it took six months of saving to have the full HT RF7 series in my home and IM NEVER COMING OUT !
  16. I hope there is someone else who has tried the omnimount cieling mounts for their RS7s. I could use a bit of advice before I go drilling holes in these boys. It seems like a rear atachment is unlikely because of the terminals on the speaker being dead center where the bracket would have to attach? It seems my only hope would be top side attachment. Please feel free to comment. Thanks
  17. Yes I wrote the name down to make sure I had the spelling right. I know they are old from the design, and the construction. I would say at least 60's or older. On the back they have seperate level controls for midrange and bass. Ill see if I can dig up the didi camera and take some picks.
  18. I stumbled across an old pair of speakers , with a name Ive never heard. Zanakawa ? Anyhow they belong to my niegbor , he picked them up in an estate sale , and wondered if they were any good or garbage? If you know anything about this name please throw me a post , Thanks
  19. I just wanted to say, that it is impressive to see Home Theaters where the actual room is built to enhance the Home theater! I know that for most of us the room and the house were there first, so the HT must fit the room, but I think its quite awesome to see the detail ,and precision used to create your systems. Bravo for the creator of this post .
  20. Do you know which omnimount brackets you went with , as in model #? I have checked them all out on line , but cant seem to find a store with them in stock. The few models I have seen in person are for smaller speakers and there isnt enough clearance from cieling to speaker to properly mount the 7s?
  21. Thanks guys , that just might work
  22. Yeah its gotta be very professional, or the wife may start giving me grief? I will probably go with the omnimount , I dont think $60 bucks is too much if it looks right. Thanks
  23. I am currently reconstructing the HT in the house, and I keep running into a problem with the RS7s. I need to mount them to the cieling, angled down a bit. I have been searching for a mount that will accomadate this process, the only thing I have found is a product by omnimount. Im looking for more options , I have also considered homemade, but am leaning more away from this. I welcome any Opinions and ideas . Thanks
  24. Just wanted to thank you all for your suggestions, I am responding to this again because the issue I had ben having with the HSU sub was entirly the fault of the speaker wires , and a missing piece of tape that uses an aero to tell you which way to plug the wire into the sub? The hero who told me to try this assured me that I must have torn the tape off the wire giving you direction. Anyhow I switched and now my sub rocks and I just wanted to throw that out there for future idiots like me. lol
