  1. Just a thought , I recently picked up a Sam. 931 dvd with dvi outputs, because of my DLP television. It gives me a much clearer picture over a standard dvd, nearly high definition. Many of the new sets are including those digital ports. I paid under $300.
  2. lol , well volume isnt the problem, Im sure anyone with the 7s can agree. Ive listened to the 7s with seperates and they sound so much more rich and full. I fully intended on going seperates one day, when the tree starts to blossom those beautiful green square leaves.
  3. Ill agree with Frank, I also have the 1400, I was going to purches the 2400, but it had nothing I needed for the $200 more(10 more watts per channel if Im not mistaken. And the port Frank spoke of. I think for my money to get a better Yamaha, I would have to jump to the big Z-1,Z-9 to make a big diff IMO. But thiers big bucks too.
  4. I asked , because I recently picked up an RX-V1400 and was curious if you run a preamp with your Yammy? I also have the RF-7 set and would like to check into more power.
  5. Hey YGMN, just curious what kind of Yamaha, you are using?
  6. LOL Im right there with ya Rich. I finally moved out of a Condo, and bought a house, the first thing I went shopping for was the "equipment". I have always loved Klipsch,I went with the RF7s , and had to decide on seperates or an A/V receiver. My conclusion was (because I know this will be a "work in progress" for the rest of my life) go ahead and get the RF7s and go demo a few HT receivers Yamaha,Denon,Pioneer Elite,HK,ect..all these brands make a fairly good sounding 7.1 rig for under $1000. After that you may become an "Audiophile" and desire to look into the seperates, or you may be content to stay where you are. IMHO I went with an $800. Yamaha 7.1 HT receiver because I do more movies and entertainment than straight music. I love it for the time being, but I am becoming an Audiophile, and will need to have these speakers perform at thier true potential. I can see Mccintosh on the horizon. LOL Good Luck.
  7. Hey Guapo, I use a 7.1 ch.YamahaRX-V 1400 with my RF7s at the moment. I cant complain about the way they sound, neither can anyone that has visited my home and listened to them. But I do not expect to stay with this receiver long, it was just a good receiver at a descent price. Now from what I have been told the Z1 by Yam. has dropped a great deal in price since the new Z9. I have heard even in your price range.http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/RECEIVER/RX-Z1.htm
  8. Any RS-7s still out there?....anyone...anyone
  9. Isnt it amazing what a fireplace adds to a room TWOL very nice room.
  10. Just a simple basic first time RF7 set up.....(but I dont go to the movies any more) LOL.
  11. I went with the wall mount, but its hard to see from this angle Im sure, (wifes got the camera)
  12. I live in the Tampa Bay area. Seminole to be exact. I like the way they look and sound, I have not even taken the grills out of thier boxes.lol
  13. LOL to the Bong comment. I do not have little kids running around "yet", so I will leave them off ..I get tired of taking them off every time a friend asks to see the horn and cone materials. Besides they add something to the crib, I figure if Im gonna take up that much space in the entertainment room , it might as well look good. Thanks guys for the help.
  14. A bit of a silly question, but I am a new owner of the RF7 line , and I like the look with the grill covers off. However I have a friend who instructed me not to leave them off? I asked him why , his response was in general you should never leave the covers off any speakers , in time it will weaken the foam and rubber? Not that he has any prior expirience with Klipsch, in fact he had never heard of them, just all speakers in general was his reply. I just thought I would ask the pros.
  15. See now this is why Klipsch forums are the best, you kill two birds with one post.lol I would say the RF7s are not too boomy. They are just about perfect, to my ear. I may have the sub matched evenly with the lows on the 7s. I have never owned a sub before so I guess I assumed the sub response would at times dominate the 7s during movies or music which had the very low boomy moments? It really does not stand out above the 7s.
  16. Thanks Lurch, that was very informative, and I will be checking into the HSU forums and support. Its not this particular sub , just the proper way to run a sub from my system. I intend on getting something larger soon, for I run RF7s for mains, so the little HSUstf2 is hardly noticable over the boomy 7s. I left the sub for last when I put the HT together, and forgot how much a formidable sub would cost. HSU was the best bang for the buck for the $299 left in the budget. I will be looking for something that goes under the 20db mark soon. Thanks all for your help guys. SKID
  17. The only connections for left/right are snap connectors. The only RCA is "a" mono connection. I dont think you understood my Question. I have it working fine because I did read the manuals, I was looking for a little bit of education in powered subs. I can do what it tells me to do in the manual, but that doesnt mean I understand why , or what I am doing?
  18. Hey guys , I am getting a little confused with perhaps the "proper" way to connect your sub. I am using a Newer Yam. 7.1 A/V receiver, with an HSU sub.(my first ever sub) After many hours of frustration I did finally get it to work, but not truly understanding the means is my problem. I am using a single mono Monster cable(I beleive 400 seies) , but do not understand the alternate left /right connections? I only get sound when it is set to out? What would the "in" application be used for? Phase seems to sound better at 180...why? Crossover knob, I seem to rely on the receivers crossover settings, and not the Subs crossover? How should the levels be set for the best performance? Like I said I get boom right now , but I would like to understand why and how I should set this up to get the best results. I have the RC7 center set to small, and the LFE set to both(sharing the lows with both front and sub.) Thanks and sorry for the ignorance.
  19. After much playing around and just flat out frustration, my son walks up and points out a switch that I never did see on the sub( in /out)....it was set to in , I switched it to out ,and now I have boom? KIDS! So from what I understand, I cannot use the bash amp built into the sub, unless I use the other connections, for now I am using the mono connection? I did however expect more sound from the sub?
  20. Wow, that HornEd can get out of control. I read the thread , and alot of good points were made. You see I am an old car stereo guy, and this is my first ever dive into home audio/home theater, so my needs at this point are not as detailed as most. I went with the standard mainstream Klipsch RF7 line, I dont even think I will go more than 5.1 ,so the RS7s are more than likely going to do the job.
  21. I think Bruinsrme was also selling his. I understand the general idea.
  22. I am starting to wonder why so many are getting rid of the flagship surround Klipsch? I was going to pick some up soon, but I think I may need to research a bit more.
  23. I got my wires from a Tweeter store, or im sure you could order them from Monster. And yes that would be correct. 2 ends go to the receiver ,and 4 back to the speaker , then your jumpers would have to be removed. Good luck.
  24. FYI I just bought some RF 7 s and the monster cables I am using are the M80s that Bi-wire. I have had no problem, I use the Yammy RX-V 1400 110 X 7ch. The wires cost me about $80 for the pair center about $50. Im not an expert here thats for sure, but i know you have the 4 connections on each speaker, did you take the jumpers off? Make sure you have it connected properly.
