  1. What do you mean coupled to the floor? And is it easy to give a brief explanation of why this could decrease its low end performance?
  2. The prices they have posted are almost exactly what goodguys has them listed at before their 10% discount. After goodguys 10% discount they are $2,384.95. What the guy quoted me on the speakers from Audio express was $2,400. Now, does goodguys normally come down more than that? It's worth the $15 difference to me to get them locally but it's not worth a $500 or so difference.
  3. The easiest place for me to put my RW12 is on a chest about 2 feet off the ground. I'm used to seeing subs on the ground. Is it OK to put this one on the chest?
  4. Is $2,400 too high to spend on 2RF35, 2RS35, RC35, & RW12 from a local dealer? I would like to purchase them locally, as opposed to the internet. This guy came down about 10% of their posted prices (Audio Express).
  5. If I put the RC35 below the TV it would be centererd with my ears, but there is not room there unless I set my 27 inch TV on top of it. Would that be bad? Also, and mainly, there is room on top of the TV, but that would put it like 3 feet above the listner's ears. Is that OK?

Easily twice as wide as long. On the far right of this room I have a table, ear high (with me laying on the couch in my normal movie watching spot). This is my only option for the Right RS. Is it OK for it to be ear level on a table? The other one will go on a book shelf in any number of spots but the shelves are like a bunch of rectangle boxes, so that RS won't be on an open wall. Is that ok to have it sort of boxed in except for the front?

  8. ---------------- Some do and some do not.....read the packages...most that do have cables supply low end stuff...but it will work for most except those desiring the true AUDIOPHILE sound....which ya have to have good ears for... at most you will need interconnect cables...for everything.... your DVD player might have DIGITAL out....which could be a optical cable or a plain PAIR of RCA wires.... For first time the Best thing to do is this... Get all them packages home...open them up...and read them manuals....the manuals will have diagrams as to how to hokk them up to various things.... The receiver will have the most extensive diagrams.... READ the MANUALs... then make a skecth of the components you are hooking up...and write on the sketch the particular type of interconnect you will need per this diagram... then take inventory of what you have ...and then decide what you need to buy.... Good luck ---------------- I don't think you understand. I want to here them right now and I don't even have them yet. How bad do you think I'm gonna be once I have them sitting in my house. Just kidding about the advice. Thanks for the info.

I don't suppose when I buy the package that all the necessary cables and other little things that I might need that I know nothing about will come with it? So what attachments and stuff do I need to have ready?
  10. I'm gonna do it if ya'll don't convince me otherwise. Now, I don't guess I can use a walkman to hear CD's can I? What cd player, and cables, and whatnot's do I need to bring these home and start listning to music? I have a TV and a DVD/VCR, but no separate CD player.
  11. That's great. Except that means, for me, there would be a lot of Saturdays and Sundays where I'd really be draggin' ***. But I bet I'd have had a hell of a time the nights before!
  12. What special input/outputs have to be available on a TV for one to run a 5.1 R35 or R7 system? That includes a DVD/VCR, Receiver (maybe pre/pro & amp), Playstation 2, and CD player. I have about a 25 inch RCA TV (approx. 3 yrs old). All I know about it is that it has the inputs for a DVD player that not all TV's have.

  14. OK, I think I've changed my mind. I think I'm gonna get the R35 5.1 set up. I auditioned that system at an Audio Express near by and thought it was sufficient for my needs. They were using a 120 watt Yamaha Receiver and had a luxorious enclosed room. My question is: is this HK a great receiver for this R35 setup?

I've heard that its a rather interesting experience.... Haven't tried it myself.... [/P>---------------- I tried it a few years ago. I can't remember for sure if it was Brick in the Wall or DSOTM. I think it was DSOTM though. Anyway you start the CD on the 2nd or 3rd lion roar (you know it's like how MGM or somebody like that always starts their movies). It is no coincidence. I'm not saying everything through the whole CD coincides with the movie, but a lot of it does. It's worth renting.
  16. When/what time is the Little Rock Party? And what will be happening?
  17. Happy Easter. I've had the song "He Arose" in my head all day. That is a very good thing. C'mon mOOn, make it up to the fam by taking them to church next week and the week after that etc...
  18. Oh, well maybe at the time he said that he was talking about the paradigms. He was switching back and forth.
  19. I, for the first time, excluding listning to some synergy speakers at Best Buy, auditioned the 5.1 R35 set. To me they sounded very very nice. But I was in some luxurious enclosed room. The guy that ran the store was a buddy of mine and the only negative comment he made was that "here's where they suffer. They should sound brighter than that." Now, I can't remember what we were listning to when he said that. We listened to some Country, some Hip Hop, and the beginning of a Batman movie. Even to my beginner ears, I know there was something special about those speakers with that movie playing. Anyway, what was he talkink about when he reffered to the brightness?

I would like to make a one time purchase and be done. Wait.... I would like to make a purchase and then win the lottery and just buy whatever I want whenever I want.

  23. I know almost nothing about Receivers, but in reading about this one I'm practically drooling. Is $839.67 a good price new? I will have a 5.1 RF7 setup and listen mostly to music but also enjoy hearing movies. Is onecall.com a decent place to order from?

I'll try to make this the last question on this thread by me. If I get the R7 5.1 rig, will I still be extremely happy with them even if a newer/better version of it comes out soon after I buy it? Is there supposed to be something new in the making that I should hold out for? Oh and if I buy that hk avr7200 how much am I gonna have to spend on wire and a cd player and other misc stuff (I already have a dvd/vcr player and TV) to actually be able to listen to muscic and hear movies. OK so I went over one question. But I got a whole burning in my pocket.
