you may feel comfortable doing this, may not, but its a suggestion: Unscrew the amp plate from the back, and on it you will see two daughter boards. These are for the left and right channels. On each of them there is a fuse, in all likelyhood one of the amps either has several burnt out components, which would be obvious by looking at it, or the fuse is blown, which you can just pop out and look at to tell. If you get a new one and it keeps blowing it, just send it back, klipsch offers repair services on all of their systems, to fix anything that is wrong with them. It is also very reasonably priced .

well the woofer seems to be ok in the box, i just have to mess with the gain on the amp to get it sounding right, but then it overpowers the rest of the speakers. I really dont need an ultra pro redone set of speakers, i put a minimal amount of money into them just to get them working properly again and i can look up the specs on the drivers again to see what the crossover points should be. I actually have the tweeter box right here, and it says "can handle a crossover point as low as 1800 hz" I can look up the model numbers and stuff of the speakers to get more info. the tweeter is a dayton dc28f-8. Not sure about the woofers or mids, would have to poke around.

Well i've finally replaced all the speakers in my 3 ways (new pioneer woofer and mid, dayton silk dome tweeter) The problem is that the crossover points on the tiny stock crossovers are horrible. Bass isnt snappy enough, vocals are barely audible, and it just seems not distinct enough. Is there a program or something to help design some new ones? I can solder, and im confident that if i had the plans and components, i could put one together on a breadboard. Or if there isnt, could someone help me figure out what i need?

my dvd player is odd in that it seems to be stuck in 480i mode until you switch it to progressive scan, it works fine in 720p but doesnt seem to have a 720i mode at all.

I do have a regular composite video/audio switch, i dont notice any difference between a console/dvd player hooked directly to the tv, or through the box. Of course that tv is just a regular 27".

well im going to be hooking a ps2, xbox, gamecube, and dvd player to the component input, and the tv only has one. So i was going to get a switch, but they cost like 50+ dollars, and i was wondering if there were a cheaper one that could meet my needs that anyone knew of.

Ill probably wait until hd-dvd is more widespread to make the upgrade. On another subject, does anyone know of a good place to get component video switches for decent prices? Or am i better off just getting a regular switch and a seperate audio one?

Well i just moved into a friend's house, and he has a 61" zenith projection tv. Now so far it seems awesome, i hooked my phillips dvp-642 dvd player up to the component input and enabled progressive scan and it looks good. When i thought about it, i thought: Isnt hdtv 1080p? If so, would i notice any advantage to upgrading to a 1080p dvd player that upscales, or would i be better off waiting until blu-ray or hd dvd players come out and are widespread? I do notice that playing halo2 on xbox is painful compared to dvd watching, since it is only in 480p. The colors are drastically improved, and the picture sharper, but not as good as i would have liked it. When i get the component cable for the ps2 ill see how gran turismo 4 looks, as it is supposed to output in 1080p

Im going to drop them in and see what happens, and if theres any major frequency holes than ill probably get some new crossovers. Im wondering, what is the frequency range of vocals, approximately? I want the speaker to at least be decent and be able to sound reasonably accurate, but im not going for anything crazy since im on a tight budget.

oh, believe me, theres plenty of ladies to watch, sometimes its almost excessive, but i for one like excess. You want to know my theory? (it sounds stupid) I think that my promedias have spoiled 85-90% of other speakers for me, and the remaining percent being Klipsch speakers i havent heard yet, mostly. It really is sad when you think about it. Half the time i think to myself "Man these might have <insert good attribute here>, but my promedias are way more accurate.

it appeared that most of the speakers were jbl's, they had 3 (from what i saw) jbl dual 15" sub cabinets, and 6 ceiling mounted 2 ways it looked like (might have actually been 3 ways but i doubt the woofers were crossed at different frequencies) There were 2 jbl's in the front, the sides looked similar but not identical to them. They might have been another brand. I have a dream of someday making a club with these http://www.klipsch.com/product/product.aspx?cid=543 but of course behind big metal meshes, and cloth behind the mesh, because nobody gets to touch the speakers. At least the ones adjacent to the club floor, the ones behind the stage could be uncovered. I bet they sound pretty good, probably real good for a club. I thought about making a club with khorns but id feel sorry for them, having to do all that work and have no playtime. Seems like slavery for such a beautiful speaker

I was at a club last night, and one thing i always notice: Are they going for the most inaccurate music possible? The highs are decent, but the mids sound like half of the mid frequencies are muted and the other half arent, sorta like theres a sawtooth pattern to it. And the bass, while however loud it may be, is pretty boomy and inaccurate. What im wondering is do they do this on purpose? Is this something that could be fixed by screwing with the eq for awhile, or are the speakers just crappy?

Im fixing the pioneers and they are going to be my mains. Im replacing all the drivers in my rears, because the ones they have suck.

what would i look for in that price range?

I will be getting a reciever soon, so i need to make a center that will be driven by 80 watts. I was looking to build a center, but i was wondering what would be reasonable size speakers to use, and id like to keep the price for the drivers under 60 dollars alltogether if possible. Ill build the cabinet myself, and space isnt too much of an issue, it can be a foot or two wide and pretty deep too.

i should finish my work in another week or so, i should be able to pay for it then.

well money is practically raining down on me right now, so i should have the speakers paid for soon. Id replace the woofers too, but im moving into a new office and need that money for rent. Btw, as a side note, does anyone know how much rent typically is for office buildings? Im getting a pretty decent size office( i think its like 20x15 or so), lockable door, dsl internet, counters and cabinets built in for 100 dollars a month. Im not sure if we get our own phones or not, im just using my cell phone anyways, but it will be for my computer business, ill move the majority of my extra computers/parts/cases out there and primarily do repair work and have meetings and such with clients there, since my apartment isnt the best place for either.

well im not entirely sure that paint will stick to it. That was my main concern. It is sorta starting to peel a little along the corners, ever so slightly in a few places, i can take some pics later.

Im just wondering, if i were to take paint thinner and rub it on my speakers, would it eat the veneer off? If not, is there a surefire way to just eat the veneer off besides sanding? Or would i be better off just getting the power sander out? I plan on refinishing them, and am trying to find out what the best route is. ps: I know, cheap, crappy, not worth the time etc but my rear cabinets are black, the entertainment center is black, and i have some black furniture so i figured crappy fake wood looking speakers wouldnt be near as cool as shiny black ones. Reminds me, would i have to use primer for rustoleum on wood? I know on metal it didnt stick as good as it could have with just painting over a sanded coat of paint.

I was just wondering, would i be better off with a standalone cd player, or would my dvd player do just fine? It sounds pretty good, id say better than my ps2 sounded when used it to play cd's, although this could be marred by the fact that the mids and tweeters in my speakers suck and are most probably broken.

that does make sense, as it would make no sense for a manufacturer to use a different dac for dvd players and cd players if they didnt have to. Not to mention dvd's are similar to cd audio anyways. Interesting stuff.
