  3. Today's legal news, California makes vaccinations mandatory. It should be safe to return to Disneyland soon. California Governor Jerry Brown Signs Mandatory Vaccine Law http://flip.it/64BWa
  4. Single malt, Bruichladdich from Islay
  5. The Juedeo-Christian ethic as advocated by a variety of religious groups. The Hippocratic Oath, The Declaration of Geneva of 1949, The International Codenof Medical Ethics and the Statement of Marbella all work to discourage doctors to be any type of an advocate for a change in the laws.
  6. no, it's not the content of the links. sometimes the syntax of a statement or link will just cause an issue with the backend database when trying to parse the actual text that's posted. Way beyond me, I'll take your word on it and continue as I have been.
  7. You'll pass your lights... Will that stand up in court? You’re honor, i know my lights were on because i passed them. The speed of light in your reference frame as, v = (c − u)/(1 − u/c). For any speed u less than c this gives v = c so the speed of light is the same for you. But if u = c the formula degenerates to zero divided by zero; a meaningless answer
  8. I have forwarded your question to the mighty Sancho, after clearance through our own Forum (DWLawyer) your que will be forwarded, expect a response within 24Hr.My sister is the medical person in the family, but she is pediatrics.I agree and approve Sancho's sage advice, see the doctor of your choice for a medical opinion. However my personal opinion and answer woild be: Neither, use Windex. Disclaimer: Nothing in the previous response should be considered as medical advice. If yiu have a medical emergency, hang up and dial 911.
  9. I always wondered why that happened. I tend to post a lot of links, usually to news sources, youtube, etc. I try to avoid anuthing that would be a copyright problem or a competitor. Should I avoid posting links? I see more trouble potential with cutting and pasting quotes from another site, more than 50 words or so can get you in trouble, better to just site the source. Hope I didn't mess it up.
  10. Tried to post this reply to Steve's original post, but I kept getting a Database Error message. Original post "A new company in Portland, Oregon has opened up with 6 presses churning out about 2,000 records a day. Vinyl is continuing to make its come back. http://www.opb.org/news/article/cascade-record-pressing-starts-production/" My response. Great post. I highly recommend going to their site and watching this video about what is involved in the mastering process for vinyl. A vwry good basic primer, and some great clips of an Ampex ATR. http://www.cascaderecordpressing.com/services/mastering Travis

  12. Typical response for a Vanderstein-like speaker owner.Klipsch owner buys vinyl for the attachment to the music despite the expense and inconvenience. Great cartoon FJD. Is that from Playboy, the New Yorker?
  13. Ohhhhhhhh, a genuine pissing contest. So much for making everyone happy. Bad form for bringing up contents of PM exchange. As a moderator you need to use more finesse and diplomacy in my opinion.
  14. fixed it for you. Oh, one of these days you'll grow old and get into vinyl...and think it's the best thing since sliced bread... He's already over the hill, do you think this forum gives out badges to youngin's?Thad has been handed his death bed walking papers, amazing thing is he begged for it for a year. And as far as Mods go, there are only a handfull here that i chat with, and they know who they are, the MODS I DONT ALSO KNOW WHO HE IS. P.S.Bite Me Thad me, and your warning points button. Ya feelin frisky there felix?Threats because i state fact? Man up newbie badge rookie. Now that's funny. I literally laughed out loud. I admire Thad for volunteering to be a moderator. Being a mod is a tough job if they have been a frequent poster and enjoy posting because it changes how you post. Sometimes, maybe a lot of times, they don't post where they otherwise would have. Everything you post is not only looked at by the forum as a whole, but by fellow moderators who presumably want to be on the same page, and the Administrator. That is a lot of people to keep happy, and, in fact, you can't keep everyone happy. Travis
  15. I agree, i have NO dog in this race, The "New" Forum, it will be a good place for the Debaters and endless rants on their views of the world. i just like poking fun at fresh meat. You know like kids with one eye, or old ladys that fall down in the market, and Bose owners.............. Miner, reaching for the Lagavulin16 Lol, well they better keep it on topic with no expressed. world view. And no bloody swearing! Hey, if it keeps the Crap off the main forum board, im all for it, look and how peacefull the main board has been since introduction of the BS forum.I observed 4 to 5 forum members as a constant, trying as they may outwit/out blog and throw chit back and fourth, till just like little kids, one gets hurt and bails. More power to the BS Forum, may you live long and be Chatty +1. But I think they should have made it 500 posts, not 5000, to get even more crap off the Board. DAM Lawyers, always have a good point...... Yeah, but half the time it is the wrong one.
  16. It does not matter and i dont care. live and let live any dam way anyone wants to, much less stress in life and certainly drama. The wife and i have great friends (Gay guys) that, no chit remind everyone that comes in contact with them, Modern Family, same across the board, little skinny guy and a big fellow. I don't care either but the lines are blurring faster than I can change my glasses. This is certainly the age of redefinition that we are living in. None of this is new. How long has the term "partner" been in use? Renee Richards in the mid 70s was big, big, news, but only for just a brief time. People moved on to the next thing. She would pop back in the news from time to time, but it wasn't big news anymore. I am NOT saying or commenting on what is right or wrong, that isn't really the issue in my mind. I think the bigger issue is how and where we get our information, and the quality of it. Directly related to that is what constitutes "entertainment" in America. I am more worried about what "sells" on TV and the media than last any od the decisions this term. An entire series about Bruce? The Real Housewives, anywhere. Honey Boo Boo? To me what is changing and blurring is what people find worth watching.

  18. So Miner and Sancho are still neck and neck. It would be interesting to see how long they could sit at 4,999 but I have really enjoyed their posts on many topics I hope they do not sit for long. I also hope they do not spend all of their time in the new digs and hang with us "new commers" from time to time. I am thinking I am several years away.
  19. Very, very sad news indeed. A wife and 5 kids.
  20. The status of HIV infected kids is protected by anti discrimination laws. They are allowed access to public education. The healthcare community indicates that unless there are open wounds or intentional risky behavior (biting, for example)............ that these kids pose little risk of transmitting the disease. More importantly are the numbers of HIV positive kids in todays schools. The transmission of HIV from mother to child (the typical infectious vector) has been effectively managed and there are very few children with HIV in the elementary systems. New diagnoses of HIV in this age group is under 10 cases per year for the entire country. If there is any 'child' group at risk it is among adolescents experimenting with sex. Statistically one group stands out for new HIV infections and I'd share it here - but the thread would be closed down by the PC admin. Suffice it to say that HIV remains mostly an STD passed among the male populations who just yesterday got the okey dokey to get married. Wherever enclaves of these populations exist they seem to target young males some that still attend public high schools and certainly Jr colleges. But by that age I'd hope that these kids are smart enough to avoid exposure and the other downsides which can accompany sexual activity. I agree that is the reason and the law on HIV disclosure on children with HIV. Travis
  21. Well the anti-vaccine group has lost their biggest medical proponent. I wonder what quack will step up now to fleece gullible parents out of their money? http://doubtfulnews.com/2015/06/anti-vax-doctor-dead-of-apparent-suicide-conspiracists-fired-up/ http://www.forbes.com/sites/tarahaelle/2015/03/25/the-vaccine-war-what-you-should-know-after-you-watch-pbs-frontlines-special/
  22. No it wasn't. There may have been no law on it for a brief period, but Congress made polygamy illegal in Utah Territory long before it became a state. Some were tried and convicted in federal court and one case, Reynolds v. United States went all the way to the Supreme Court and held that laws against polygamy did not violate the 1st Amendment. Subsequent legislation was passed by Congress giving it authority to seize church property associated with those engaged in the practice. A lot of the legislation and case law surrounding polygamy and law in the Utah Territory was discussed in briefs submitted in connection with the most recent Supreme Court decision.
  23. Ron is on tour, ill be buyin tickets for his stockton show in Oct, altough being in stockton aftyer dark is rather disturding.Check out Ron Whites FB page for a show near you. And if you EVER see a Lewis Black venue, do it, you will be the better for it. I laugh very much with both of them. The Lewis Black bit about bottled water kills me. That was a great bit, it gets me every time. He is a great writer as well. “Jerry Falwell said that the reason that September 11th happened, the reason that God allowed it to happen, was because of certain people in our country. People like, and I'm quoting, 'the pagans,' which is a motorcycle group. Feminists; he brought up feminists. [...] And I couldn't believe it, he said that God had actually talked to him and said, these were the people. That was the reason. It was those people, and that was the reason God allowed this to happen. And I thought, 'That's odd.' Because God had called me twelve hours before, and He said the reason He was upset was because of people like Jerry Falwell.” ― Lewis Black “A republican stands up in congress and says 'I GOT A REALLY BAD IDEA!!' and the democrat stands up after him and says 'AND I CAN MAKE IT SHITTIER!!” ― Lewis Black
  24. The NCVIA requires that parents be given an information sheet that explains the risks and benefits prior to each and every dose. EVERY medical practitioner I know involved in family practice or pediatrics gives the required information, gets the parent to sign a receipt for the information, and the parent also acknowledges that their questions have been answered. You should report all of those doctors you know who are not providing this information to the appropriate State Board of Medical Examiners. Now if it is a question of what you believe should be explained, and what the law requires to be explained, then the doctor's are in compliance and you are out of luck. They are not totally shielded. If a petitioner prevails on their claim and is paid from the Trust Fund established by the Act, the Fund is subrogated to the petitioners claims and can go after anyone involved in either the manufacturer or administration of that vaccine for the recovery of the amount that the Fund paid. The Act does not provide immunity from civil liability as you suggest, it converted from a tort based compensation system to a "no-fault" based system. There is a big difference in being immune from liability and a no-fault system. There are pros and cons with a no-fault system. There are other areas of tort law that have gone to a no-fault system. Some states have "no-fault" for automobile accidents, workers' compensation is no-fault, etc. Why did it happen? In the 1980s there were numerous law suits being filed over claims related to child vaccines. Some manufacturers found it too costly and were starting to pull out of that market and there was the beginnings of a shortage of vaccine. Congress became involved and they ended up with NCVIA. Aside from the creation of the no-fault system, there were many, many other benefits that came out of that act to insure the safety of vaccines. Travis The industry in question here is Pharm, and the specific sub-catagory of that industry is the manufacturers of child vaccines.
