    Do you road race, drift, or do autocross?  The S2000 should be great at all of those.

    I mostly road race, with some AutoX.  I look forward to bumping the boost now that I have a clutch to hold it.  Only need 8.5 PSI to make 400hp at the wheels, which is nice in keeping it all cool.

  2. Finally got my hands on one of these... Instead of buying of a scalper, I just bought a bundle at Costco, which actually wasn't a terrible deal.  A massive upgrade from my Xbox One S... Which was a downgrade from my PS4 Pro, but I got it from a friend who got it as a gift, and I wanted to get back into the Xbox as I have always preferred it.

    Also got a new clutch and lighter flywheel for my track S2000.  Only took 5 hours from start to finish!

  3. That's typical of all OEM for tuning and always has been.  They also need something safe enough to load on every car as regardless of being the same car off the dame factory floor, they aren't all the same. 

     

    Who's your friend tuning in KC? I may know him.

    Looks like they are VGT? I almost bought a VGT turbo for my RZR, but didn't want have to change it up for non-electronic boost control. My diesel Jeep has almost the same turbo as the one I bought for the RZR, but a slightly bigger hot side with VGT.

    Did you go with the Jackson Racing kit? They are similar turbos from Garrett.  I'm fabbing this one up for my RZR 900 S myself as I don't want one of the bigger machines and the kit you can buy is not setup like I'd like.  I will be using and AWIC setup modified from a turbo model RZR. If I wasn't running E85, I could use the stock injectors, but I've picked up some ID1050's, which are a perfect "drop-in" and ID always supplies good data to start the tune with.

    People are getting more and more into the SxS stuff and people are making some serious power for the size these motors are.  I am actually about to fabricate a turbo setup for mine once I get my turbo back from Advanced Thermal Products, where I am having them make an Inconel shield around the hot side of the turbo.  I'd like 110-125whp at the wheels to help with the bigger, heavier wheels and tires I am using, my altitude, and just for some more feeling of getting put back into your seat.  In reality, it's mainly because I can't leave anything alone.  :)

    The short of it, I use my laptop to change timing, fueling, scale in Volumetric Efficiency (VE) more accurately, cam timing, etc.  In the case of factory turbo cars, we can bump the boost higher, which gives pretty good increases.  Some of tuning a car is making it hit targets, where any OEM tuning will be close enough to handle all the cars off the factory line, which are all a little different.  Once you start changing parts, tuning becomes a must.  When I put on my turbo, I will be swapping injectors and a MAP sensor, along with changing the VE of the motor.  I will have to scale the injectors in, scale VE based on the higher reading MAP sensor, etc.  

    Here is a video of me tuning one of my own cars last year.  This is my track car, which I have added a turbo to and run E85 on.

     

     

     

    This was from a few weeks ago.  We were trying to actually get a 1,xxx wheel hp dyno with a worn motor, knowing it might go.  Compared to this video, we've run 20 more PSI at the track, than what we did here.  This shows part of the tuning process.  This car was a little different compared to most vehicles I do in that not only is it on an aftermarket ECU, but there was no base map to start with, so I had to build it from scratch.
     



    A few months ago, I went out to tune another SHO owned by the same guy.  This SHO was built up for another TV that will air towards the end of the year...  Can't share anything more than that, but I will say that we did extremely well on this show, unlike the other show we did on Netflix.  

     



    I do a lot of these cars (Subarus), which are a bad choice for making a lot of power out of, but the parts are available to drain money on.  😛  This car was actually put together well and made great power.  I actually turned up the boost after tuning it on the dyno, so I probably was just over 700whp.

     

     

     

     

    I am looking forward to getting this back on the dyno again soon to bump up the power a bit.  I really like tuning fun track cars.  :)
     




    Sorry, I can post tuning/racing stuff for days.  I enjoy the hell out of it and having retired from one job, I look forward to leaving my current full-time job in a couple years to do this full-time.  I think the SxS stuff will start being a bigger thing for me as the EPA is making things harder for anything that was once a certified emissions-compliant vehicle.

  7. Finally got a baseline with the RZR on a DynoJet dyno.  Stock power at the wheels on a DynoJet is 45whp.  I made nearly 64whp on a stock engine, stock intake, stock exhaust, etc, just put in E85 and tuned it.  :)

    I paid $14k last year... Value has probably gone up as the demand has become so high.  It's absurd what people will spend on the bigger models at $30-35k!

  9. Put the RZR on the dyno to get a baseline before adding a turbo.  This dyno didn't like picking up RPM signal, so I will be on a DynoJet dyno next week.  I have seen a stock dyno video and it made 45 whp.  I have added E85, tuned it, clutch kit, and larger/heavier wheels/tires, so I am curious to see what it will put down next week.

     

     

  10. Had a Rhino Liner gift card sitting around for years, so I had the fenders on my RZR done.  I also got some new suspension for the RZR as well... And maybe some turbo parts.  :)

    I have the new boards in... I had him cut two sets.  One is Masonite and the other is 1/4" MDF (with veneer on both sides).  I think I am going to do the MDF as I like the thicker board and will be more like the current Heresy's where the grilles stick out a little.  That said, I bought a staple gun and some 1/8" staples.  I tested on some spare wood with my grille material and I think this will be perfect.  I need to attach the magnets and then paint the boards black, then I can wrap.  I will have to measure and make marks to ensure I keep the lines straight on the material.  If they are not straight, it will be noticeable.  I may try to get this done this weekend...  Currently working on a lot of projects.  Spring brings energy.

    The guy who made my grille boards is doing another one for my center channel/mantle speaker as well.  Also with 1/4" MDF.  I am looking forward to that over what I did because he's got a CNC for this stuff.

    I was able to score some B/BB grade, veneer core, Baltic Birch in 3/4. The staples are showing, oh well... it gives them character... right? FWIW, the fellow who built these is an electrician by trade and this was his first attempt at building any sort of cabinets.
