  1. I got my Klipsh speakers at Brandnamez.com and saved over 40%($1200) from my local dealers "Best Price" after I negotiated with them for 30 minutes. Being on a tight budget I couldn't resist the savings and decided to take the risk. My speakers shipped promptly. All of the speakers arived Brand New Sealed in the Original box and sound great. If you do buy from them make sure you check out your equipment withing 7 days. Otherwise they won't take it back. Only thing is they are not covered by the Manafacture Waranty.
  2. ---------------- Check this out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=61378&item=5705641734&rd=1 THis guy believes brandnamez is selling "seconds." I suppose I wouldn't mind if the price was right. ---------------- Well they aren't an authorized dealer so most likely they are selling gray market products. That means Klipsch won't cover the manafactures warrenty. The speakers I got from them were brand new and sealed in the original box. I didn't see any defects with any of them. If you do buy from them make sure you check out the speakers before the 7 days are up. After that they don't accept exchanges. Again for me I had a strict budget and was willing to take the risk. Fortunetly it all worked out for me and they sound great.

I spent $300 for the 5740 so I might be willing to take that back just for the upgrade in the receiver! I will look into those subwoofers because I do think I would like to add that sometime over the next two months but I certainly wasn't wanting to have an inferior sub to my floor speakers. So, if I am planning for the reference series it sounds like I need a strong sounding sub. Thanks again all! D-Rex ---------------- If you are patient I've seen it go on sale at Best Buy for $399 every once in a while. I picked it up online at shopsunshine.com Again I was on a budget and was willing to take the risk with buying from an online store. I didn't need the receiver right away so I was willing to wait a week or so for it to be shiped. With shipping it cost $358.99 and I didn't have to pay taxes on it. Best Buy sells it for $499. http://www.shopsunshine.com/Items.asp?PId=1072 It's way better than the 5740. A lot more power and features than the 5740.
  4. Well I started off looking at Best Buy like yourself and almost bought from there until I came here. Then I went to Ultimate Electronic and listened to the Reference series and fell in love with them. Unfortunetly I couldn't afford them so I went on line to find a better price. Brandnamez.com has a brand new RW-10 for $330 which sounds like it fits your budget. If your room isn't to big it should do the job. http://brandnamez.com/merchant.ihtml?pid=1205&lastcatid=161&step=4 I picked up the RW-12 from them for $429 and love it. I also picked up my Center channel and other speakers from them. They are not an authroized dealer so you are taking a chance with them, but the prices are hard to beat. I have a Yamaha 5760 and it sounds great with the Klipsh speakers I bought. Can't complain about the price either, I got it for $350.
  5. I have a 50" Mitsubishi and the picture is great. Even sittng at an angle you can still see the quality. My advice is to check out several TV's like you have been doing. View the picture from different angles if you will have people sitting at an angle to the TV. Then buy the one that you like the best which meets your price range.

    Remotes

---------------- On 1/23/2004 1:16:43 PM DrPyro wrote: I'm with Rich on this one. I also have a HomeTheaterMaster MX-700, it has been a fantastic remote and easy to program. It REQUIRES a computer to program, but I find that a huge advantage since I have continually tweaked the macros and I can backup to an "old" version of the remote. The only problem I have had is controlling my HTPC with Girder, since I have to select a device first, then program girder, but I don't have that problem anymore since I now use an IR Keyboard on the HTPC. There are two companies that sell the MX-700 that have a very good reputation on RemoteCentral.com, so check there for info. One of them is Bluedo.com or something like that. -Dave ---------------- Thanks for the RemoteCentral.com site. It was very helpful. I decided to go with the Sony RM-AV2500. Found it on newegg.com for $99 with free shiping.
  7. I would spend $1500 and get yourself a nice Mitsubishi 48 inch widescreen. You could probably find one on sale and save a hundred bucks or so. I love my Mitsubishi rear projection and I am always amazed at how clear the picture is even when viewed from an angle. Don't forget the cables as mentioned in the other posts. I ended up droping at least $300 on decent cables. I saved a ton of money by purchasing my speakers and receiver online. I found my speakers for real cheap at brandnamez.com. However I've noticed that they have problems keeping Klipsch speakers in stock. Especially the floorstand and bookshelf ones. Also they only give you 7 days for exchanges. I made sure to check out all of my equipment before the 7 days were up. http://brandnamez.com/ I picked up my receiver from shopsunshine.com. They have really great prices on new receivers. It's a risk going with these companies because they are not authorized dealers but if you are on a budget it may be worth the risk. It worked out for me. I save over $1000 buying from these guys compared to what Ultimate Electronics quoted me.
  8. First I have to say thanks to everyone who posts here. I just finished putting together my Home Theater system and absolutely love it! Initially I was going to go with Bose but after reading up on it I changed my mind. So I went to BestBuy and found some Klipsch In-Wall speakers(KHW-5) and a decent sub (KSW-12) that I liked and started to pursue that lead. Which brought me here to this forum. Atfer reading about some of the Subs in this forum I decided to go to Ultimate Electronics and try out the RW-12. What a difference, I was sold. However that sub was in the room with the reference series in wall speakers(RCW-5). The RCW-5 inwalls blew the KHW-5 inwalls out of the water. After hearing those I decided to go with the reference series speakers. Unfortunetly they were almost twice as much as the others. Here is what I decided to go with: RC-25 for the Center channel RCW-5 for the Front Right and Left RCR-3 for the Rear Right and Left RW-12 for the Sub Ultimate Electronics quoted me $2468 for that set of speakers but they offered me $200 off if I bought it that day. I decided to do some more research. I ended up finding the same speakers on-line at brandnamez.com for almost half that price $1384. I never heard of that web site but I took the risk because the price was so low. Everything arrived in about a week and a half and was brand new in the original box and unopened. All I can say is I absolutely love my new system. It sounds amazing! Not to mention my wife is thrilled with the look of the In-Wall and In-Ceiling speakers. If you are not a die hard audiophile and are looking for good speakers that won't annoy your significant other then I would highly recommend the RCW and RCR series of speakers. Thanks again to everyone on this forum. I've read through hundreds of posts and I feel much more confident with my system now because of it!
