  1. First of all 4.5 cu ft per driver is fine, you can build larger cabinets(a waste IMO)but an adequate amp/PEQ will take care of the loss associated with a smaller cabinet(steeper rolloff, higher Q). I have eight 4.5 sealed cabinets,a pair housing the Mach 5 IXL18.4, heck of a performer, the Maelstrom-X on paper is a good deal more impressive ...in reality wou would have to seriously push the Maelstrom-X to say a IXL18.4 is in the danger zone (close to Xmech). The bottom line the IXL18.4 is a better buy IMO. Sound quality, built quality is about equal. The Acoupower is an animal in a ubber woofer league. The Acoupower 18 needs a far larger optimal cabinet(sealed) and having an 8Ohm VC you need (must have) a very capable amp.No Cheapingher here. I am talking Crown's iTech 6000 and up or QSC's PL380 powerhouse. These deliver big time even into 8 Ohm loads. To me the Acoupower is worth every penny,it is not a driver you will see in a jobber's particle board cabinet powered by Sony's Xplod garbage. I have them ALL. Not a driver escapes my wall(mutating into side walls now!).
  2. The dont gibe a "d a m n" was about the price of the LMS-Ultra,the $875 is a ancient price people will never see them sold at. The LMS-Ultra will sell for over $1000 in great condition,my two spare LMS-Ultra I would only sell them for $2000 apiece, not a cent lower and I may need them later and regret my sale. The 13W7 can be had for under $700 ...I reapeat for under 700 little ones. Less than the low price on the LMS-Ultra. No question the LMS-Ultra is a superior product.
  3. CECAA, I will have the set adjusted ,I would not spend this money just to get a bit better than Samsung quality. [] After it is set up properly, the picture quality is as you said...incredible. Samsung is very good, the Pioneer KURO Elite is THE BEST finest flat panel display when image quality is considered. It is in a whole new class, the reference class. Anyone who compared the two will see it. Like TC Sounds LMS-5400/Ultra sub drivers...the very finest period.
  4. You will not get a LMS-5400 for $875 anymore, this is why they went belly up. I paid ~$1500 per LMS-Ultra...as price ..I do not give a damn if I have to have the best. [] And the quote you got on that 13W7...LOL I can get them for ~$700. $1199 is a ripoff.
  5. The best is beyond the mortal's wallet, made by Mark Levinson. A multi box pre/pro (separate switching!). The best by human standards is the Lexicon pointed by a few,an all around outstaning performer from a huge name in HT...Lexicon. After you have Krell ,Anthem D2 and a few upscales units...but the Lexicon is worth each penny.
  6. Samsung and Panasonic doo a very competent job...but the Pioneer Elite lineup is on a whole other level of quality. People will defend what they buy,but nobody can convince me to buy anything but... a KURO Elite. To me the purity, natural of the image is "organic". Makes the competition look so so. The SC-09TXH will be used as a pre/pro only with SimAudio Celeste power amps driving Dynaudio Contour speakers. My Klipsch RF relegated to "little" theater duty with the Sharp AQUOS as gaming rig (PS2/3,Wii/Xbox360).I have purchased a little Toshiba 32" 1080p LCD for watching news, installed in the kitchen, works with my "old" Klipsch ProMedia 2.1. My reference rig may use Alcons speakers, still not fully decided.I may end up with Revel's Ultima lineup...I like what I heard.Or yet who knows,if the Palladium line shows at my Klipsch dealer... Choices choices. []
  7. 13W7 costs more than a LMS... back into reality please. 13W7 does not retail for $1599 (LMS-Ultra 15"),the old pricing on the LMS is no longer in effect. The Acoupower 18 sells for $850 apiece. The 13W7 can be had at many places for under a grand. Try to find the LMS-Ultra for under a grand these days, good luck...only second hand. Having four I say...HA HA. Sealed ...ported Sealed will put more demand on the amp and driver,as the excursion will grow when you drop in frequency.Less efficient as no port or PR will add to the driver's displacement. With a ported you make sure you have the space to acomodate a cabinet large enough to let you tune near the frequency the extension can start falling. Acoupowers work great in sealed or will have blow your winsows output when working in a optimal tuned cabinet(where ported properly, not underported(restricted)).
  8. After looking at variousHDTV sets,I havefound the undisputed king of flat panels.Pioneer's KURO Elite lineup, these units have a natural and black level that simply puts to near shame anything else you may throw at them. I am getting the 60" Elite KURO,this gem is worth every penny. Anyone looking for a superlative plasma better give the Pioneer Elite KURO lineup a serious consideration. I am not impressed eay but these units are true champs. [] Slight OT... The SC-09TXH will also be joining this new Elite KURO display in my HT. One heck of a receiver with capabilities of ahigh-end pre/pro.For the first time the amp section is aworthy one,ICE amps all round. One low point no balanced pre out (to connect external power amps). And still to few sub outs! Other than that,a first class receiver with the performance of high quality separates. I will not replace my Anthem pre/pro yet, this receiver will join the lower and system. Not so low end after all.
  9. Rattling, the only rattling hear here is your teeth. Now take your imaginary rattling or someone may rattle your cage. Comprende? [] Rattling...ha ha ha.
  10. I have no choice but to agree with CAS here(no choice at all!!!). [] I have built simple subwoofers that outperform much more expensive commercial ones. The catch...you need to invest time into these projects. One thing the vast majority of DIY builders will never match is the custome electronics and cabinetry of a Gotham. All else can be matched and better... Take the AudioPulse LMS-Ultra this driver bests the JL variant of the W7 used in the Gotham or Fathom. But these are hard to find and cost more than the average joe can muster for a whole sub...I have now four LMS-Ultra 15's...he he he(cheap brag). Also take Acoupower's 15 or 18" monster and you also can build a one of a king ubber performer. After the proper cabinet is designed and constructed...you need the proper amp (Crwon iTech,MacroTech and QSC PowerLight)to power these...plus a proper PEQ. The results are OUTSTANDING. This of course I take as a given one has more tham basic understaning of acoustics.
  11. I would set all the speakers to small (80Hz crossover point) and let the two RSW15's do all the 80Hz down work. This IF the RSW's are place in front with the mains(RF7's). On each RSW15 set the crossover to max(highest cutoff freq.),set the Phase to 0 on both(would place them one close to each RF7).When doing the setup you have to make sure the subs are in phase with the mains. For this the mains have to run full range...you play music with heavy bass(not very deep, heavy content 60Hz down). Listen with pase at 0 and phase at 180(both subs). The correct phase is where the heavy bass is louder. Or better yet play test tones 50Hz is great as both the RF7 and the RSW's can belt tremendous output at this frequency. So you will know and fast is the phase is correct. Once the phase and placement are set. Time to set the level, the sub has to disapear ,if you hear the subs they are set too LOUD...lower the gain.Oh yes set teh gain on the subs half way and work with the receiver's sub gain. Hope it helps
  12. Quite rude ! LOL I will not allow some net surfer who never heard my system tell me how it sounds. It is pain silly and discredits this net surfer. [] Rude, believe me you never saw my rude side on this site. Bass shakers ...great for a HT setup with a "floating" seating space where they can be best used.
  13. Listen up, you do not have any authority to tell me what I do and do not understand . Capiche? Learn proper manners before you attempt to give me any lessons.
  14. Finally understand..LOL You dont get it or what? Both the rooms where I have my audio systems have reinforced walls, there is no "parasitic" flex untill it gets to extreme SPL levels. Do you even listen when it gets to a point where pain takes over ? NO only afool would. So your point is ?
  15. I have yet to see/hear a room where massive displacement will not anny rattles. At high (yet half sane) outpout levels the walls stay in shape, only one wall has extra flex(output where SQ is insignificant since SPL is at a level where your hearing gives).
  16. Needs updating as I am adding two Acoupower 18's and four JL Audio Fathom (dual f113's and dual f112's) to this. Nobody matches this level of displacement in a small room, world wide. If anyone has proof of the contrary...please link it. []
  17. Bass shakers...pah.For people with subwoofers that cannot deliver all there is to deliver. Sorry not my cup of tea. I prefer twenty sealed subs driven by ten pro amps...shaking...the walls have visible travel now. So capable it is plain scary and the RF7's(two pairs driven with two Brystom 4B amps) can be drowned ! []
  18. Dr Who, The aluminum enclosure will disipate heat yes it will,a poor heat conducter like a wood product will...very poorly. But ..there are much better ways of dissipating that heat, using heatpipes (from magnetic structure to outside heatsink) would be more effective. I think Bosso has a design along those lines. And who abuses his drivers for extended periods of time to the point of thermal overdose? You use as many drivers as it takes to make each one sing even on peaks that make you grimace. This is the road I took. [] With twenty drivers(ten 15's and ten18's) in a small room the ears will beg for mercy far before any drivers even start working hard.
  19. Here fore all the self proclaimed bass experts here...here is my newest monster...beats the The Beast from the East and ...the Gotham ...plus Ricci's RE XXX sub ! Without any further wait here it comes... Why make cabinets of aluminum? A complete waste, well braced ply does the job,and none of you will hear the box in a blind test. That is a guarantee. Why is sealed better than ported when money is not an object, because you decide if you want to lower the rolloff point by re-adjusting the PEQ/ shelving filter. Sealed offers natural protection for the driver and linear damping a ported lacks below tune. Back to the Wol Mart sub..so how you people like my new addition? [] Particle board is great for dollar store speakers and the Five Dollar furniture store.
  20. Dude like you have three RE XXX (poorn drivers) and you need to fix da wallz, them walls be needin fresh pain Yo. Yo dont mess with me or I will take roids and become an athlete ! Like far out dude. [|-)]
  21. Dude this deal was like the BEST EVA. [:|] Dude ..like DUDE ! Far OUT man. Far out... PEACE YO. YO ....[] Like YO like...dude stop smoking da weed.
  22. Look it is him ! I knew all along I was interacting with a special individual.
  23. The world famous ~ is too vague, the average Klipscher needs a more accurate ~. []
  24. Perfect for the human hearing,a sealed sub done right has one major issue less to deal with PORT. Ports and PR's add non linearities to the table,a sealed is more predictible. The air spring distortion a non issue for a properly optimised sub not pushed where it should not be. The lack of efficiency is a non issue for those with proper funds, hear that a NON ISSUE. You use multiple drivers backed by proper amplification and signal shaping devices to get extreme ULF. ULF you CANNOT with a ported design as size will get out of hand. A concrete cabinet is not practical due to weight mostly, with a high quality birch of the right thickness and braced where needed you can achieve a very inert cabinet. No sonic signature will be heard, caused by cabinet vibrations. Measured yes, audible not. Not all that can be measured can be heard.Wasting time to fight the inauible is pure foolishness. []
  25. One 18" does not equal two 15's not even close. The 15" has ~70% of the area of a 18", not 50%. This taking both have the same Xmax and Xmech. Two 15'" are almost worth one and a half times an 18". One thing is sure, the 18" is preffered to a 15" as less units need to be used to move X amount of air.
