  1. I have figured something out. When I first go to the forum and try one of the things I mentioned, they don't work. However, if I click on any topic and then go back to the main page, it works... Thanks for you hard work Chad!!

Good 'ol Rob Ford, he's been giving our late night shows plenty of good material lately... Despite his recent troubles, however, I read yesterday where his approval rating is actually 1 percentage point higher than President Obama's at this time...
  3. Lately, I have been having a few issues with the forum popping up such as: When I "hover" over someone's username at the bottom of the page, it does not show anything (most of the time, but not always). Most of the time, I cannot update my own or comment on someone else's "status" until after making several attempts. When it shows I have received notifications or PMs at the top of the page and click on the icon, it will not show me the message. I've tried switching internet browsers, and it makes no difference. Is anyone else having these issues?
  4. Update: I've had success!! After further online research I found out that at the time this unit was made, Marantz was owned by Philips, and it shares the same functionality and controls of its cousin, the Philips CDR880. I then googled photos of the Philips, and indeed it has the exact same controls on the front of the unit (by name, if not by location). I was able to find and download the CDR880 manual, and sure enough, it helped me figure out the things I wasn't sure of before!!
  5. I figured some folks would get a charge out of them. P.S. - If anyone wants them bad enough, I'd be more than willing to pick them up and deliver them anywhere in the country for an additional 5 g's...
  6. This guy has obviously spent a great deal of time and effort on these, but it's too bad he used cheap drivers and who knows what other components. The crossovers sure look pretty elaborate, though. Over 500 lbs each, wow!! He's been trying to sell them for a month or so, and I seriously doubt anyone is going to pay 5 grand for them... http://syracuse.craigslist.org/ele/4188399292.html
  7. Thanks Steven! I spent a good bit of time looking online yesterday, and I saw the link you posted. I don't like to give out my personal information to these kind of sites either. I will be calling Marantz on Monday if I don't find one before then... I am very appreciative of y'all trying to help me out on this matter...

Thank you very much, that's great to hear!!
  9. Now that I look at it closer, this is a copy of the service manual. I'll keep looking for the owners manual. Boxx, I found that one as well yesterday while searching. Like you said, it's the service manual, not the owner's manual. Thanks for the help, it is greatly appreciated...
  10. BTW, I LOVE that photo of Johnny and Rosanne in your avatar. I have it as one of the photos in my blu-ray.com gallery...
  11. I picked up a really nice Marantz Reference Series DR-17 CD player/recorder on Thursday, but it didn't come with the manual. I've searched online for a download, with no luck. I have figured out the recording and most functions without one, but I'd still really like to have a manual. I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have or know where I can get a copy of the manual?

Has anyone heard anything out of Ben, or know how to contact him? I know he lives in or near Kokomo, Indiana, and he hasn't posted since a couple days before the hurricane hit that area hard. I'd like to know that he and his family are OK...
  13. I found a nice Marantz Reference Series CD player/recorder today, so I'm back in business!! A big thanks to all that replied and offered to help...
  14. That one definitely peeks my interest since it plays both SACD and DVD-Audio discs! Are you the original owner, and if so have you ever had any issues with it? Do you have the remote? And your asking price? Thanks! Rick
  15. The only dimension that is critical is the depth. It cannot have a depth of more than 13-1/2" (including any protruding knobs/switches and rear connections). I am really hoping to find something ASAP, but if I don't by next week, I'll let you know. Your efforts to help are GREATLY appreciated!!
  16. A changer will absolutely not fit where it will have to go (way too deep). That model does not play SACD's (except the redbook layer). Thanks a bunch, though... Keep 'em coming fellas!
  17. Thanks! I see they are all changers, I failed to mention that I'm not really interested in a changer, only single disc players. I really appreciate your effort in looking at your local stereo shop for me, and I'm anxious to see what you may find... I found something to go look at tomorrow if nothing comes up before then. I thought about going to look at it today, but it is about 65 miles away, and I'm not up to it at this moment...
  18. Rick, I am on the hunt full time for you. I will try to find one as close to $100.00 as I can. Bill Thanks Bill! I'm really surprised that I have been looking for 3 days and haven't found anything yet. I'm beginning to tire of scouring all the usual online sites, and my local area absolutely sucks for Craigslist listings in electronics. Given that CD players are a dime a dozen, I fully expected to receive several offers here, and I'm very surprised I haven't. If I only had an Ebay/PayPal account, there are hundreds (if not thousands) of candidates to choose from. But, that's not going to happen at this time. If possible, I'd much prefer something that will play SACDs (and to some extent DVD-A discs, though I only have a handful of those)... One thing is for sure, the Sony BD player is not that great for music, and I find myself not wanting to listen to music much at this time because of this...
  19. Nobody has an extra player they are willing to part with? I was expecting to be overwhelmed with offers, must be bad timing or something...
  20. Boxx, I am not really sure at this point. There are several that I've been looking at, but it will likely be several months before I will be able to purchase a new one. If I can find the right "older" unit for the right price, I may not even desire a new one...
  21. Bill, thanks for the links. I've been looking at the usual places over the weekend, and even put wanted ads on Craigslist. So far, no luck... Like I said, I am really trying to limit my budget to $100 or less if possible. For now, I will be using my Sony BDP-S580 blu-ray player. And while it does play SACD's, it is just ok as a CD player, so I'm looking for something better... Anybody have an extra player they are not using?
  22. Bill, thanks for the reply. When I say inexpensive, I mean under $100 if possible. Whatcha got?
