  1. We hauled a pair of Belles from Md. to Ohio in a Dodge Caravan. We put a couple of layers of cardboard on the floor to keep the seat mounts from scratching the speakers, and used lots of cardboard, blankets and pillows for padding. No problems. Good luck!!

Not to sound rude, but I figure I'm in a win/win. I can try to sell them for a good price, or I can keep them and enjoy them. Heck, I've already wired the basement HT for them (wires up to a 8' location in the wall so I could build a ledge for them and have a plug nearby) Best time to sell something is when you don't need to. ---------------- Coytee, The comment was not meant for you. I'm just expressing my feelings about buying (or trying to buy) things on Ebay. This deal was typical of my experiences....at least now I know why the guy wouldn't sell it to me for $400. Good luck with yours.
  3. I have a K-77 that sfogg sold me. You can buy it for $60. Just let me know.
  4. Nascar @ Las Vegas....ok call me a redneck. I can take it.
  5. It's gotta be the Kimber cable. Seriously though, I suggest you move the speakers around before spending any money. Move them forward, back, in, out, toe them in....that sort of thing. Do you have a television between the speakers? If so, move the speakers forward when listening to music......that helped the sound of my Chorus speakers a lot. Good luck.
  6. This ad is from Lincoln, Nebraska. Klipsch is spelled wrong....again. $375 would be a good deal if "perfect", and it does say obo. 1 PAIR Klipsh Heresy speakers. Perfect condition. $375 or best offer. (402) 786-2990 Good luck!!
  7. Here's another good deal that's too far from me: Klipsch Cornwall Speakers, $500. 319-433-8169 Ad started 3/12.
  8. ---------------- On 3/11/2005 6:58:52 PM Tomski wrote: Thumple did I allready thank you HHHHHHMMMMM JK TOM And yes they are WORKING now!!!!!!!! ---------------- Hi Tom. I'd wondered about the fate of those Cornwalls.....didn't know you had bought them. It's funny to hear about their "living conditions". I talked to the owner on the phone at about 11am on Superbowl Sunday and he was already trashed. JJ, I don't think the money went up in "smoke". Nothing I ever smoked made me slurr like a drunk and talk in circles the way this cat did. Congratulations to both of you on your "new" Klitsch speakers.
  9. ---------------- On 3/11/2005 9:59:37 PM Budman wrote: email the seller and tell him you want to give him the 400. won't hurt to ask. did you notice it says a pair of speakers ---------------- I e-mailed the seller before whining here....no reply yet. I noticed the ad said "pair" and figured it's probably just a "list similar item" error.
  10. Please excuse me while I rant..... I just found an Academy on Ebay for $400 BIN. Checked my bank account and had plenty.....WOO HOO!!! That took about two minutes.......Got back to Ebay and some idiot had placed the $200 opening bid and the $400 buy it now price is gone!!!! What the H*** was this guy thinking???!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=94906&item=5760093353&rd=1'>AARRRGGGHHH!!!
  11. Thanks guys. I'm gonna try it! What kind of glue do you use to put the Klipsch badges back on?

Did Klipsch order hundreds, individually test them to certify as K77 or ??---------------- Yep, that's just what Klipsch & Associates did. As part of the sales contract with EV, Klipsch overbought, cherry-picked the ones they wanted, and sent the "rejects" back to EV for credit. The "Klipsch" medallion or stamp on the back of the K-77, etc. tweeter means quality and consistency. The tweeters that didn't pass aren't necessarily bad per se or worse sounding than the ones that passed Klipsch's tests; they just didn't fit within Klipsch's testing parameters. ---------------- Michael, There may be another difference between the t35/k77. Bob Crites once said (04/04) the Klipsch K-77 "has a large thick phenolic (I think) spacer under the magnet effectively insulating the magnet from housing. It is the only variant of the alnico T-35 as far as I can tell...." I wonder what the spacer does? Is that possibly the reason for an Alnico K-77 not messing up the picture on a CRT?
  13. Help a dummy out......how much does it take to make a pair of Cornwall grills?
  14. Either repair method mentioned would have the passive working like new. It only needs replaced if you're worried about cosmetics or the resale value of your Fortes. I would just fix it and fugitaboutit. Good luck!
  15. ---------------- On 3/9/2005 9:38:01 PM mark_ivan wrote: Wow, Thanks to everyone for the quick resonse. Not sure if this thread has died yet, but wanted to add some info. I am pretty sure I want to lose the Mirage Sub, seems like a pretty lumpy response despite twiddling with the controls and many placement experiments. Interested in finding an original pair of Fortes, other than Audiogon and Ebay, where are the best sources? How much of a difference do people make between the Forte and the II? Is it worth hunting for extra months to find one or the other? Also, what are the main areas of concern for buying used without being there in person? Replacements, repairs, signs of wear or abuse etc.? ---------------- Mark, I was selling Klipsch when the Forte was replaced with the II. The Forte was my favorite speaker in the store. I remember thinking the original was better than the replacement, but due to old age and stuff, I can't remember exactly what the difference was. It would be tough for me to buy either kind without seeing and hearing them first. It's easy enough to get burned in person! Use something like a paper towel roll and listen to each individual driver to be sure they're all working properly. Check the passive radiators on the back to be sure they're in good shape. It won't hurt the sound if the dust covers are pushed in, but it's always a valid reason to ask for a better deal. Good luck!!
  16. Sorry dgrjr. I just wanted to know if your tweeters were something I "needed" for my Cornwalls and didn't mean to get all this trash started. You didn't make any unreasonable claims in your ad, so don't let anyone get to you with their rude comments. Good luck with your auction. Rick.
  17. Thanks djk. Mine have the bolt (screw) heads and I always wondered if that was normal. By the way, it's been a long time since I saw another K-33 woofer.....do my dustcaps look different than most? (see attachment) It looks like the centers of the caps have been cut out and replaced. I don't recall others looking like that. Any ideas?

Sometimes it better not to make assumptions until you have a chance to hear them first. This is one of those times. ---------------- Hey digjr, Are you the one (digjr22) selling these tweeters on Ebay? Are they basically a T-350 magnet on a T-35?
  19. ---------------- On 3/2/2005 5:26:29 PM colterphoto1 wrote: I didn't know I had a 'craw'. Isn't that a Woody line from Will and Grace? Michael ---------------- You watch that show? That could be half your problem, right there. Seriously though, congratulations on day 60! Now forget about your problems and go have some fun!!
  20. Do all of the square magnet K-33s have two bolt heads on the back?
