  1. Thanks for the replies and info.
  2. As the result of an upgrade to a Denon 3805, I have some components that are not part of my current HT configuration. Pre-3805, I had an older Yamaha DSP-300 Pro-Logic component, that took signals from a B&K CS117 pre-amp, and used the pre-out jacks to a Niles SI-250 for my front mains(Fortes). I used an Audio Source EQ11 equilizer in the mix as well. All other speakers were driven by the Yamaha component. Since the upgrade to the 3805, all my speakers are being driven by the 3805. Does anyone see any benefit to pre-out my mains from the 3805 to the B&K/Audio Source/Niles component stack? If not, I'll probably find some use for my separates in a different part of the house as opposed to Ebay-ing them. Thanks!
  3. Jack, What Denon Model do you have? I've been interested in getting the DVM-1815, 5disc DVD/CD player. How long have you had it and is it meeting your expectations? Thanks!

  5. I run 4 Fortes, 2-front and 2-surrounds. I know the Academy is the speaker of choice, but are difficult to come by and lots of $$'s. I didn't have the room for a Forte or a Quartet. So, I decided to give a KLF-C7 a try, and I couldn't be more happier with my front sound stage, with the C7 sitting between my Forte I's. Should I ever have an Academy fall into my lap, I'd move the C7 to my rear center.
  6. I am thinking about picking up this DVD/CD player. Does anyone have any 1st-hand experience with it? I'm needing to get a new DVD and a multple CD player. It'll be hooked to a Denon 3805, driving Forte's and a klf-c7. Thanks!
  7. It's too bad that the network cut away as quick as did from her, when the booing started. I'd love to see more footage or stills of her face during the booing. Did she throw any kind of a hissy fit?
  8. I believe the concern is not one of the speaker wires actually causing a fire, but being used as a conduit for a fire. A fire could follow the path of the cable run if the wire jacket is not flame resistant. The fire path would be through any holes that are needed for the cable run with the burning wire jacket feeding the fire along the way.
  9. I run the Hersey's taller brother, the Forte, with a KLF-C7 as a center. I keep hearing how the Academy is "the perfect" center for the Heritage line. My ears are telling me that the C7, if not perfect is pretty close, given the non-availabilty of the Academy.
  10. Let's see... last year it was a 43" DLP. This year, it's been getting an entertainment center to put the DLP on. The existing center is too high at 48". After looking around and seeing nothing that impressed us, we decided to go the custom route and had one built 36" high. All internal wiring access, internal surge protectors,..etc. Ventilation at top and bottom in the back. Makes for a nice unit. We did add a KLF-C7 to sit as a center between my Forte I's front. The entertainment center was built to accomodate this size speaker, right below the TV. Looks very nice and tidy.
  11. Thanks everyone. So, the two trains of thought for any beefy center KLF-C7/RC7/Academy would seem to be: 1. If the center speaker can handle the frequencies, then set it to large. 2. If the center speaker can handle the frequencies, and there's a decent sub in the mix, then set the Center to small. The reasoning is don't tax the center with lows, when the sub can handle them. As in most things in life it's T&E. So.. I'll try the small setting and see if I like it. I was only trying to see how the majority of others have theirs configured. Thanks again.
  12. I am running a very similar HT setup that you are setting up. I have the 3805 AVR driving Forte I's front and surround, with a KLF-C7 center. Lots of folks will offer opinions stating that an Academy is the best and only way to go for a Center with Heritage speakers for fronts. Understand that Academy's show up now and then on Ebay and usually fetch big $$'s, even when broken! So, I decided to use a KLF-C7 for my center and have not regretted it at all. Your Forte's should work just fine in an HT/2-channel setup.
  13. I have Forte I's for fronts and for surrounds. I've recently moved to using a KLF-C7 as my center and I'm pleased with the results. I'm also using an older JBL PSW1000(10" 100watt 30hz) My Auto Eq on the Denon 3805, has detected the C7 and has set it large. I'm curiorus about what other folks have their Center's set as. Am I doing myself a dis-service by having it set to Large?
  14. I use optical between DVD and AVR, as well as between my Comcast cable box and AVR. It's my understanding that either optical or coaxial will perform equally. My reason to use optical was that there are more optical than coaxial ports on my Denon 3805.
  15. I recently upgraded my center with a C7 between two Forte I's. I'm very pleased with the sound across the front. I know the Academy is "the" center speaker for the Heritage line, but the C7 works for me!
  16. I have had the 3805 for several months now. It takes a while to get through the various configuration setups, but it is driving my Forte's(Front and rears)with little effort, in a 7.1 configuration. I have read that some people with less efficient speakers, are using the "pre-outs" on the 3805 patched to another amp to drive their speakers louder. I'm happy with it, and I'm glad I made the decision to get it when I did.
  17. Thanks for the suggestions. Wish I had room for a Forte center. The Academy is the perfect size. Oh well..~sigh~ If there's nothing new that would be an acceptable fit, then I'll just have to keep on the lookout for an Academy or some KG2.2's, I guess. Thanks again!
  18. Hello, Long time Klipsch Forte I owner(mid 80's), first time posting. I'm looking to understand what currently available speaker would match up well with my Fortes. I'm finding that an Academy center speaker is the best match, but difficult to find. Does anyone have a recommendation on a speaker(Klipsch or otherwise) that would match well with my Fortes and is still in production? I'd like to find one similar in size(+/-) to the Academy. Thanks!
