  1. He never gave me his phone number do you have it?
  2. Gary, got your phone message last night and this is the first chance I have had to get on the computer. Was a confusion and crazy day for me past 3:00 PM. Thanks, the report sounds good. Can you email me the guy's phone number if you have it? I have still not heard back from my email asking him about me stopping by on Friday or Saturday.
  3. No HS band but did have a garage band that played some parties. Sold my 68 Strat to pay for a semester of school...damn I miss that guitar. The rest of the boys went on to keep at it. All being 40 something professionals they play for the fun of it, not to pay the bills in the Detroit area. Any Mi-people ever see them? Great name on the marquee of a bar - Tonight for one night only "Free Beer" http://freebeernet.com/
  4. Have we figured out yet if it is the Surround Back(s) that are more important then the RS/LS or not assuming you don't have the same speakers all around?
  5. Funny I originally thought that. Not having seen any of yours/these you could surely take you pick. Then I thought no...I am the only one with that type of humor.
  6. Send any and all ammo you have to make me look like the "Sane" one...I could use the help. I am betting that if falls into place there will be a short time of "this is way too over the top" followed by "I am so glad we got these, they sound awesome". The wife is actually fantastic at supporting my various obsessions of brewing my own beer, old pinball machines and audio/video gear. It is only recently that we have had the space to expand the family beyond a TV/Forte set up. I am the luckiest man in the world. If it I get kicked out and end up living on the street I am sleeping on FrznInVT's couch as this is the 2nd round of Khorns he has gotten me in a frenzy over. Have not asked him about finish/price on the Heresybeen too fired up about the khorns.
  7. I already have two pair of HeresiesI guess if I get another I could go Khorn mains with 5 Heresies to round out the 7 in 7.1. Then I would have to have a fire sale to liquidate the rest of my Klipsch line. It is starting to look like a dealership in my basement. I really need some professional help here...my wife thinks I am unnaturally obsessed with anything named Klipsch. I am hoping the khorns are in decent shape both finish and sonically and me and the seller can come to terms. Hopefully by the end of the weekend I am getting out my shoe horn to squeeze them in. Wish me luck and thanks for all the input so far.
  8. Hey guys enjoying the good natured ribbing. Larry, all kidding aside I do greatly appreciate the offer of you timeI am sure you are busy like me and time is much more valuable. Should it work out I dont think I will have any problems but I will keep you in mind. Thanks for the info on dimensions as well. Chris thanks for taking the time to give the guy in your area a yell. Let me know how it goes. Gary I sent you a PM/email via the forum today, please let me know if you get it no errors on my side so you should be set. Thanks again to all. Fingers crossed that everything falls into place. Rich
  9. Chip in!!?? Larry that is so nice of you to pitch in a few bucks to help the cause? How much can I put you down for? 200-500?
  10. Chris a good deed for sure - thanks a lot! Maybe before this is all over I will have a pair of Khorns and 4 WO Chorus. Then I surely would be done. Find out if the guy still has them and wants to sell them. I am interested. Give him my email if you like. Do you know if they are chorus or CIIs? My gut tells me that with the wife for the time being the chorus have a much better chance then the khorns...but the klipschorns are close to home. Thanks again, Rich
  11. Oh, you guys are killing me here. Do I have to go in swinging elbows to keep Gary away? Last week had me badgering my Toronto friend to sore Khorns for me till I could get there. Missed out on the auction due to cost. These will probably end up being a 2500 dollar plile of kindeling when/if I check them out. Well at lest the dream so far is fun. Now to work on the speach for the wife...
  12. Thanks a ton, Larry. Original wall was about 13 feet wide, finished out with baseboard and all it is roughly 12.5 feet. The screen is 95 inches wide with four of that on each side being the frame. The depth of the screen is about 2 inches. So 22 to 23 would surely fit but like you say the depth coming out might pose problemsbut to be clear after the 28 inches I have an additional 4 for the frame of the screen before you get to any picture image. It is a 1.23 to 1 screen and even the widest movies I have viewed so far still have about 6 inches of screen before any image. Getting excited about possible khorns, but then I might be getting a little ahead of myself. To be clear the spot for one khorn would be as follows: Corner of wall, 28 inches of nothing, 4 inches of frame, 6 inches of screen during widest movie and finally lots of image. Do you think it is possible to make it work? If not I just level the house and build the right room dont ya think? FYI the depth of the room is 16.75 and the ceiling is just under 8 feet. I know not the ideal khorn room but I do have lots of wall in both directions for both corners so that is a start. Thanks again, Rich
  13. Gary, if you are willing to educate a would be khorn owner maybe we could go together. Then I could fill you in on my location ect. that I can't seem to get to you via PM. I would love to have khorns, but they never seem to be close enough to check out. I would appreciate anything to look for and avoid. That is if you are not interested in buying them. If you are interested in buying them I won't pursue it. Rich
  14. Sorry for the bad drawing, I promice I am a much better programmer then artist so no chance of me quitting my day job. Can somebody please give me the measurements for AB, BC, CD, DE and EA in my attached file? What I am trying to figure out is if Khorns will fit between my Fixed Screen and my side walls in my HT. The bottom of the screen is 39 inches off of the floor and I have 28 inches on either side of the screen. At 39 off the floor I know the khorns won't fit below the screen. Thanks for any and all help, Rich
  15. Had a few back and forths with the seller. From what I can pry out of him 20 some years old in walnut. 7/10 condition. What is a decent price given that knowledge? Obviously I need to go look at them if I want to go any further. FRZN, give my message back to you over in 2 channel a look please. Rich
  16. FRZN, already contacted the guy. He is willing to sell the khorns independent of the Heresies...that makes it more tempting. I have asked him twice for year, wood/finish, etc. He is not being very helpful. Short statements like "yes" with no info. We will see... Hey if you have the time/ability can you (or anyone) give me "footprint" of a khorn? I see they are aprox 51 tall, 28 deep and 31 wide, but they are basically triangles stuffed in your corners at 45-degree angles. If I start in a corner how far along each wall to they go? Is it 28 measured from the corner to the face of the speaker at 45 degrees from the corner? The reason I ask is my screen is very wide and my wall is not so wide. If I did not have enough room I would have to raise the screen and 51 or more from the ground up would not be ideal I don't think. Time to take some precise measurements. Edit Took a closer look at Khorn pix. I see they are not quite a triangle. When looking down at the top of the speaker from above can someone please start at the pont that would be in the corner and give me the dimensions of the 5 sides? Or answer this question. Between the bottom of my screen and 52 inches up from the floor I have between 28 and 28.5 inches from the edge of the screen to the side wall. Will Khorns fit in between the side wall and edge of the screen? End Edit Thanks, Rich
  17. Chris that is excellent, are you offering to buy them, pack them up and ship them to me and make some $$ for yourslef? I would want some pictures and a warm fuzzy feeling that they would be packed up nice and safe. Let me know what the total would be including shipping to zip 21154. see my email address above...PM and email via forum is not working well for me. Thanks, Rich
  18. I may have it backward on the WO can't get it wrong on the OO. So the earlier post has it right. OO=Oiled Oak OW or WO =Oiled Walnut. I currently have Walnut Chrous and Oak Forte II and Black Academies. Eventually I would like to end up with 3 Chorus across the front of my HT so I am looking to "find" another walnut pair (or single) to buy, at the same time I thought I would throw out the Forte trade. However I am open to any suggestions as long as I end up with 3 matching Chorus across the front and of lesser importance matching Forte. Currently my WOChrous/OOForte/WOForte front set up is bugging me when I watch a movie...however the sound is phenomenal.
  19. Not having Cornwalls I can't give you an exact exact answer, but I can tell you if you are open to mixing old and new I have Sunfire pre/pro and older Carver amps driving my Chrous and Forte sounds great to me. I have seen a few other posts where people like the Klipsch/Sunfire combination.
  20. Bob/Gary: Not having any luck with email only back from your original messages. Olorin: Tried to send you email via new message, please let me know if you got it. Any and all others interested please send me mail directly to rplace*nospam*@mantistech.com remove the *nospam* to send it. Thanks, Rich
  21. Not noticed anyting about how many back and forth trips but it simply won't take my reply. After that I can't get to the forums or even klipsch.com. You are right about the 20 minute time frame before things start working again. 20 minutes is a typical time out for some sessions on web servers...maybe it is related. Enought of this tech-no-babble, who has my speakers
  22. Having trouble responding to PM for some reasons. Will try again tomorrow.
  23. Probably more of a HT post but I did a quick search of earlier posts and it seems like the 2 channel forum is the best place to post this with respect to buying selling speakers. I am looking to buy a pair of WO Chorus or Chorus II in very nice condition. By nice I mean they pass the WAF for major dings/scrapes and my requirement of no water marks on the top. I currently have a pair of WO chorus so CIs are my first choice, but dont think CIIs are out unless somebody with listening experience can tell me that I am way off base here. I am looking to spend less then 1,000 dollars (depending on condition) for both the speakers and shipping combined to zip 21154 (Baltimore area) Willing to drive north to Philly or south to D.C possibly further. If you can help me out give me a shout and we can work out the details. I might consider a beat up pair if the price is right. I could be talked into major fixing up or veneer to change a black/oak pair but the price would have to be a lot less. Sonically they would need to be all there and working. I am the original owner of a pair of almost perfect OO Forte IIs that I would be interested in trading for WO Forte IIS. Finally I would also be open to trades on my WO Chorus for OO Chorus. In short I want to end up with all my speakers in the same finish. Probably unlikely that I will find the right person with the right gear in the condition to satisfy us both, but hey it is worth a shot. I have a pair each of Heresy/Heresy IIs and two Academies that could also be thrown into the mix. I only want to get rid of my Academies if I find suitable CI/CIIs. That is I am not interested in selling/trading the Academies unless they are in trade for Chorus or selling them after I find the Chorus I am looking for. Thanks for looking, Rich
  24. Getting back to the original intent of my post, sorry but I do tend to ramble in all directions once I get going. If you do not have the luxury of having all the same speakers for surrounds in a 6.1 or 7.1 set up. Which are the more important the RS/LS or the surround back(s). Lets say I miraculously end up with only three choruses and have two Academies and a pair of Forte. Would the optimum set up be Academy/Forte/Forte/Academy in the back or Forte/Academy/Academy/Forte? I do understand that 4 Fortes would be tough to beatIll have to work toward that. Before I started any of this my gut would have told me that the RS/LS are more important then the surround back until I started listening my 6.1 set up. Now I am starting to think that the SBs are more like the center in the front in that they really anchor the surround part of things.
  25. Thanks for the input MrMcgoo and the correct terms. Just to be clear are you thinking that 3 or 4 Fortes would be the best way to go in the rear depending if I stick with 6.1 or can squeeze a 7th in and work toward eliminating the Academies all together? Surely given unlimited $$ and unlimited availability I would want to strive for the front three to all be the same, right?
