  1. hey i feel your pain on the spending just got back from picking up a set of cornwalls, (650.00), and tonight i just had to have that ever elusive pioneer rt909 reel to reel (400), had to borrow that money, have a new addition to the house on the way in sept. and still cant get enough hi fi, its definately an addiction but i have to agree with the prev. post when i look around and see where others throw there money it does give me a little justification, at least when all is said and done i have tangiable goods that will likely be worth more than i invested, P.S. anyone want to put a 1975 harley flh electra glide back togeather for me, only in about 50 pieces now?

  6. i cant comment on k-horns as i cant afford them but i do have 2 pair of cornwalls and they are powered by 2 phase linear 400 amps and a sound valves vtp101i tube pre amp and im here to say it sounds simply amazing, the volume is incrediable and my bass sounds fine to me, i cant feel it in my chest but i do feel it in the floor, not boomy like the old cerwin vegas, but nice tight solid bass, love the klipsch speakers, i also ran the phase linear pre amps both the 2000 and 4000 series and the tube pre-amp blows both away hands down Joe
  7. thanks to all for your suggestions, turns out it was a 4.00 fix, had to solder new rca jacks on the cable. i will also say the dual cs5000 turntable is a awsome table if you are on a tight budget like me, have seen these sell for between 250.00 and 500 on ebay and worth every penny IMO, setting here listening to marshall tucker band as i type and MAN WHAT A GLORIOUS SOUND. crystal clear, does anyone have any information on an audio technica at14lc cartridge all input appreciated thanks again Joe
  8. i am hopeing it is just the rca plug end itsself i am ggoing to get a pair today and put on the table hope this solves the problem as the table is a very nice example of the 5000. thanks for all the help Joe

That will give you a quick idea. dodger ---------------- checked this and the rca goes to a small 4 pin din type plug with the wires are stripped and inserted into the plug i would guess soldered i would bet this cord near impossiable to find as this was last manufactured in 1995. i also just to paasify myself switched my stanton 681 over and the sound stayed the same so its not the cartridge, also if you play with the cord it will stop the humming but then all i get out of the right channel is broken signal and static, sound like an rca or a bad channel thanks joe
  10. cant seem to catch a break. just got a dual cs 5000, and hooked it up where my thorens 160 was running fine but the dual is putting out a rather nasty hum, and seems to play fine on one channel but if i hook up the other rca i get a loud hum like some type of interferance, i cross checked the rca's from the dual and the hum follows the white (right) channell, could this be a defective cartridge or more likely a problem with the wireing itself i also cross checked the cartridges were wired the same and they are HELP PLEASE thanks Joe

Just my .02. ---------------- i agree , i watch the sales daily and the khorns routinely sell for 1700, to 2000. in very nice shape i would say be patient but that would be the pot calling the kettle black, when i see what i want, its katy bar the door especially audio gear joe
  13. finally got my gear moved around and set the cornwalls with heresys perched atop them, about 14 feet apart, whereas they were about 7 feet apart before, and the sound is definately better with the distance between them, now all i have to do is move about 900 albums and alphabatize about 250 more and things will be set for at least a week. untill i get to philly and pick up my 2nd set of cornwalls, DOES THIS CRAVEING FOR MORE EVER END???
  14. i agree some items are hard sells now, i was however able to sell enough excess gear to pay for the cornwalls in the last 2 days, now to get the cash to cover the trip and the tolls

  18. hey 3dzapper im sorry (not),im just 3 hours south of him and he was willing to work with me on picking them up, whats bad is i have absolutely no where to put them except i am going to make a wall of sound, i plan to stack them corns on top of corns, sounds crazy i know but i want to see how it sounds maybe good maybe not if all else fails i will burn the couch and set them there, i debated all last night and today before buying them, i wouldnt even think of letting my 1977 corns go for under 800 or 900, and the ones i just got from this guy i will probably feel the same after i hear them. this will be my 3rd pair of klipsch 2 pair corns, 1 pair heresy's and i think i will be keeping all 3 pair unless a killer deal on some khorns comes my way, love those klipsch Joe
  19. hello whats the deal with the price of cornwalls lately, i watch the sales pretty regular and it seems like the price has dropped off on the cornwalls is this a seasonal thing that happens every year or what i just scored my 2'nd pair of cornwalls for 650, thats 200 less than my first pair only 6 months ago, also after checking the completed sales i found 3 other sets sold for under 700 thats just to cheap for such an awsome speaker joe
  20. ok i appreciate the responses and i get what you are saying i just hooked the amp up as stated and it works with 1 amp but i run 2 amps, how would i hook the 2nd amp up to a single eq, i used the amp connections on the rear of the eq and have a set of tape rca's open could a 2'nd amp be run thru the tape rca's on the rear of the eq thanks Joe
  21. you mean the same as you would in a tape loop only treat the amp as a tape deck, no chance of frying anything this way. Joe
  22. i have bought near 1500 albums on ebay within the last 6 months, overall good experiences, i had one person sell me total CRAP 150 albums of which i think i kept 3 or 4 i emailed the guy and complained his retort was i didnt grade the covers i graded the albums, i still got a partial refund from him to compinsate for the junk, i hit a couple great scores though bought a radio station back up set of albums 675 albums for 515.00, all the vinyl was exceptional a few of the covers were rough i have also found if you hold out a little you will come across a deal Joe
  23. i have a pair of phase linear 400 amps hooked up to my vtp 101i tube pre-amp and would like to hook up an equalizer, according to my phase linear history with there pre amps the said DO NOT hook up an equalizer in a tape loop configuration, and that any sound enhancers should be hooked between the amp and pre amp, anyone here know how this could be done or if it is even possiable, i would like to have this connected in a way that i could affect the sound on all 4 speakers thru both amps, MAKE SENSE? thanks Joe
  24. CLASSIC D-MAN where do i send the money?? my first laugh of the day thanks joe
  25. here i am again, i certainly think irresponsiable people should pay for thier transgressions, but in this case there were 2 people irresponsiable, the girl staying there listening at loud levels had the option to stay or leave and protect her hearing for whatever reason she decided to stay and thereby put herself at risk, it was a choice she made good or bad, and she should have to live with the consaquinces, no different than if you went out on a icy highway and had an accident that caused you permanent damage, should you be allowed to sue the state because the road was icy????? i dont wear my hearing loss like a badge of honor, in fact it is irretating, and somewhat bothersome, but im not out asking klipsch to pay me for makeing thier speakers so effiecient that they can get louder than would be considered safe, i dont recall any warning when i bought my speakers saying careful these can get loud and cause hearing damage, i did read your first post and in it you imply that she was right to sue, and its that type of talk that seems to make it alright with a vast majority of people to go make a choice, perform an act, have a problem and sue someone with the excuse "well you should have warned me the music was loud, there should have been a label caution hot, etc... etc... etc...
