  2. thanks to everyone for their thoughts and experience......in the crossovers I have rebuilt I have replaced the autoformers with ones from BEC......I always like new....caps, wire, inductors.....the works.....now I have a collection of old stuff....by the way, off topic but I changed the tweeters in my Belles to JBL 2404s and they are awesome (with ALK crossovers).....thanks again -Al
  3. we seem to replace older capacitors because they lose there value over time....but do old autoformers need to be replaced ?....I'm talking about 20+ yr old stuff.....the second question is if they don't, is there still a benefit to using new ones in a crossover rebuild ?...if so what ?...thanks -Al

  13. I didn't know Paul was making IC's....thanks for the info....I have some of Paul speaker anti-cables and previously posted that....I have used lots of different types of cables costing much more and also cheap zip cord....the anti-cables are the best I have used....-Al
  14. hey Randy...I have Heresy IIs with the same x-over....I used solen for the 68uf and auricaps for the 1.5uf....the auricaps were installed in my amp and I liked that so I used them....I'm sure Hovlands would be good too.... http://www.partsconnexion.com/catalog/CapacitorsFilm.html you can look at quite a few caps here and inductors if you want to replace them too....why not ?....actually I even got new autoformers from Bob (BEC) too.... -Al

  17. these are the best cables I have used....this includes mit, monster and most recently some silver wire....sometimes simple is better....and the price is right.... http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.pl?cablspkr&1111494723 -Al
  18. Heresy II capacitors values are 68uF and (3) 1.5uF....there seems to be a flucuation of values such as auricaps are 10%....relcap the same....hovlands 5%....is the any negative affect cascade bypassing to say 66uF and 1.6uf instead of the original values ?....thanks -Al
