  1. I am VERY grateful we don't get that kind of weather out here.
  2. That WAS a hell of a funny picture, though.
  3. No laughing here, Comrade. 5.8 is a big one. Plus, you don't know the size of it when it's happening! You could be feeling it at your place, when it's far worse (usually closer to the epicenter) somewhere else. Any shaking can shake you up. In 1969 we experienced a 5.6 in the evening on October 1. We were pretty close to the epicenter, and we were glued to the radio, listening to reports of damage. About 1-1/2 hours later, I was showering when a larger (5.7) aftershock hit. It was weird and disorienting to be in the shower for this. For months afterwards, every time I showered I thought I heard or felt something. It's an impressive thing!
  4. That it would. Put it in a Vector arm, and it will track anything.Cable news is doing its usual filling up the hours with incessantly repeated fluffy headlines. Yes, I was watching CNN, the main story being the earthquake. Of course, there are newsworthy events happening in Libya, but the runner at the bottom of the screen kept informing me that Katie Couric's new show would be called "Katie." Earthshaking in it's own right. I was flipping around, and the weird looking guy on Fox (don't remember his name) finally said, "Folks, the earth shook. It stopped. Everything is OK. So if you want to see more on the earthquake, I suggest changing channels." I was impressed!
  5. Is it OK to drool my pants?
  6. Yeah, the biggest one I experienced was the '89 Loma Prieta at 6.9. That's the one that collapsed freeways and a deck on the Bay Bridge. Of course, the way the Richter scale* works (a base-10 logarithmic scale), the Loma Prieta was over 10 times the power of today's Virginia quake, and this year's earthquake in Japan (9.0) was over 1,000 times as strong! *Note: They're using a different, but similar scale now, the MMS.
  7. Too bad you weren't playing an LP, Larry. It would have been a good tracking test for your Transfiguration!
  8. I wanna lie on the ground and wrestle with him! Love the color, and the smile!!
  9. Sorry, I can't help myself: My favorite John Doyle (with Kate Rusby) tune:
  10. Oh, and for a good use of chainsaw in a song, listen to Little David on James Taylor's One Man Dog.
  11. May it's an Appalachian power metal band... (chainsaws, angle grinders, bandsaws... ) Hmm... VERY nice, Josh! For a moment, I thought I was hearing John Doyle and Liz Carroll!
  12. Now that would be a fun show.
  13. You DID ask about other McIntosh and hifi equipment, didn't you?

    BBQ/Smoker ???

I love it when you talk dirty. And the ladies (ok, lady) goes wild!
  15. Or somebody stuffed a skinny doll wearing a cowboy hat in it somewhere.
  16. So does his boss. Pa dum dum []Just kidding...
  17. Vinyl was down to 0.1% at one point, and by 2010 it had bounced back to 1.3%. Woohoo.
  18. I love stories like this. Thanks for sharing. That story is one you'll tell on stage one day, I can feel it...
  19. My Grandpa used to listen to baseball games on the radio in his comfy naugahide recliner. It would be a mistake to have assumed his closed eyes and snoring meant he wasn't keeping track. On the contrary, if you changed the station (or turned it off) he came to and chewed out whoever did it. "But Lyle, you were sleeping," my Grandma would say. His complete recap of the last inning proved otherwise.
  20. One overlooked possibility is that you just don't like them. Not outside the realm...
  21. That won't cause them to sound bad, you just won't get an even bass response.
  22. Wow, less than 45 minutes after posting (for the first time), and he's got 6 well-intentioned replies! Great forum, eh? Definitely something's wrong, especially if you think the bass is bloated compared to the Cornwall.
  23. I'm guessing 3 orders. It is a very sweet park. We usually take the ferry across SF Bay, right to the ballpark. And yes, there's a Doggie Diner right inside, but I've been told to avoid it. Plenty of other things to choose (including dogs), though.
