  2. Your's sounds better. Good luck on your cornscalas or whatever they're gonna be. I'm sure they'll sound great. I hope to move to Heritage one day. I'm outa here. c ya
  3. moon, you never cease to crack me up! where'd ya get that pic so quick?
  4. by HDCD, do you mean SACD, or something above that? I'm a mid-fi guy at best.
  5. Good evening all, Moon, you're making me hungry! And since I've been shut-in with the flu all week, that's no small feat! Getting better though. Been searching eBay and Audiogon all evening for subs and surrounds for the emerging system of Legends. I already want a new receiver. I guess I have it,.. the... "upgrade bug." Uh oh...
  6. Hello, Looking at and DIY sub by a nearby HT professional and wanting to run the parts by you all. It's got a custom 3/4 cherry top and constructed of 1.5"MDF w/ "extensive web bracing." Amplifier is Art of Sound's plate amp. Drivers are the Peerless XLS 12" w/ matching passive radiator. Neutrik, XLR, and single ended inputs. Whatever that means... It looks like an end table. Maybe that's why he's selling it.
  7. Will a KSW-300 keep up with KLF-20s as the mains and the other set as the rear surrounds in a 5.1 set-up? What happens if I add another KLF-C7 to the rear channel? Am I asking for trouble? (I haven't even begun to understand 3.0 yet...) I thank you for sharing in advance.
  8. Hello to you and Welcome to the Forum, I too purchased new KLF-20s in 2000, but unfortunately paid about double what you did. But I still love them. They were originally powered by an old Pioneer SX-980. I think it is a 200 watt 2-channel receiver. Plenty of power. I recently started to build or build up my home theater system and puschased a Pioneer VSX-1014TX multi-channel audio-video receiver. I found a used KLF-C7 center channel here on the forum (thanks RedTop!). I am also wondering if I have enough power for the -20s. But I may have been spoiled by the older stereo receiver, or may still not have the -1014 set up correctly. Don't have much experience with the brands you mentioned, but there is a wealth of knowledge here on the forum. Sometimes it takes some time or multiple posts to get the info. My advice is, attempt to demo likely candidates in your listening environment and go with what sounds good to YOU.
  9. Hello all. Re-ran the Stevie Ray Vaughan, Austin City Limits DVD. Power electric blues. 'Nuff said. Also found another old blues CD from a band that at the time was out of DC. The Assassins "Cut Me Loose" Jimmy Thackery of the NightHawks on guitar. Spellbinding. And the amazing vocals of Tom Lepson. I can listen to the last track "If You Go" over and over...
  10. Somebody explain why servo amps make for better subs. I've never had a sub so I .. ah... don't know what makes for a good one. Have a finicky ear, (two of them), and don't care for the THUMP, THUMP of today's popular music. Thanx Oh,.. Pioneer VSX-1014TX, KLF-20s, KLF-C7 50/50 music/movies, new to HT
  11. Thanks Mick, Gonna have to get one so I can stop sitting in my driveway on Saturday nights from 10 to 12 listening to Stone Blue. GREAT elcetric blues...
  12. Yeah, what Dodger said. And said, and said..... LOL! But, that was good advice. Especially the lock and hinge stuff. I've seen more doors kicked in that I can remember. Dogs are also a great deterrent. Rarely have I investigated a breakin with them inside, but it does happen. Large, territorial dogs roaming around outside are even better, but may be a liability. (Eating the neighbors cats. Or the neighbors...) Can't over-emphasize the importance of good neighbors and a good neighborhood. One with restricted access is great. Mine has one street in and out. Many thiefs are criminals of opportunity. They may "scout" (case, ride through) an area before and hit later or maybe the first time through. Your identity is much harder to protect. That's another topic entirely. Oh, the gun stuff. The firearm is the great equalizer. Have a few and love them. Invested in hardware to protect them from others and mother nature. Dirty Harry had a custom .44 Auto Mag in one movie, forgot the name. Awesome handgun. Had a friend who had one. Quite accurate. Alarms? They really aggravate law enforcement and will not keep you from being broken in to, but may keep you from getting cleaned out. Crackheads do smash and grabs. Especially purses, electronics, jewelry, etc. Ask your local cop how many REAL alarms calls they get that weren't set off by the home owner.
  13. thanks for the info I have an hard-installed XM in my GMC and love it. Would like a receiver inside to play through the KLF-20s. I really like ch 74 on XM, Bluesville. Anything similiar on Sirius?
  14. Anyone have the Polk XM satellite radio tuner? (The seperate, for in-house.) Or any other for that matter. Have XM in the land sled and LOVE it...
  15. Since I just purchased my SACD and only have one SA', I've been listening to "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd over and over and over. Heard things I didn't remember from other mediums. Interesting. Gotta get some more discs...
  16. TOO funny! I'm sitting here just laughing at my 'puter! You should send that to the Reader's Digest or somethin'..
  17. Oh, and yes on the new ride. Get XM or Sirius radio. It's the bomb.
  18. MC, That is a FAB-U-LOUS pic! You have a gift that you need to continue to use. You capture moments in time and put them on FILM. And you're right, film is better at this. Please continue. But maybe finding somethin' else wouldn't be a bad thing either. Sounds like you've got lots of great friends here. Please continue to use them/us as you or anyone need... PM on the way
  19. Hey Michael, My advice is "Get OUT of the house!!!..." I know that may not be possible, but how about a studio somewhere else? Oh, and get a dog. They're much more emotional and needy than cats. Give ya someone else to think about. I have only been on the Fourm for a short time, but have learned much and your threads are some of the few that I pay particular attention to. I'd like to thank you for all your advice. Hang in there.
  20. There is a local TV/Appliance Dealer that I have dealt with that is a local-run company, but they don't carry Klipsch. I will have to go in and see what lines they do carry. Was definelty going there to review TVs. I think they're more mid-fi on audio. We have the usual Synergy at BB and the attached aggravation. There are some decent workers at the Circuit City. Probably college students, but nice enough. Just went in to see what they had, since the store is always in a constant state of flux. Did make contact with a Reference dealer about 50 miles away who stocks the RW 8 & 10 and said he has them hooked up for listening. Will probably go listen to them, just to see how the Klipsch subs sound. I'm new to 5.1. I'm already sort of concerned about power issues whereas my new avr seems underpowered. It's nearing the end of the scale on the volume control, but isn't very loud. Haven't gotten an SPL meter yet, so guess I need to do that. My old heavy-as--d Pioneer 200W could clip the -20s at halfway. I must be spoiled. Having to set all these speakers levels also takes getting used to. Too many choices, d____t! Thanks for the responses!
  21. Does anyone have the Velodyne 12" DPS-12 sub? My local Circuit City advertises this speak. Of course, they probably won't have it in stock, but "we have THIS model that is much better(meaning $$$)..." They also always seem to be in a constant state of "upgrading" their listening room so that anything you want to hear is incapable of being hooked up to anything worth listening to. xc#!&**#%@!.. What to do. ?
  22. I looked at the Arcam at a high-end dealer when shopping for my first AVR, but it was a little too pricey for the intro receiver. (need more Klipsch first) I was sold on the feature that bypasses all the 7 channel .... stuff, to a 2 channel for dedicated music. Supposedly for the audiophile that wants 7.1. You bi-wire the speakers. Will be looking strongly at it as I build up my system. I thought the price at this dealer was $1700.

Anybody have one of the new Hitachi UltraVision sets? Shopping for a big screen and looked at some at Circuit City. The big $7000 one is AWESOME. I guess for $7000 it should be. Can't decide between Samsung, Panasonic or maybe the Hitachi. Pioneer plasmas have beautiful pictures, but pri$ey... Any recommendations? Probably not going with the older big cabinet sets and a projector isn't feasable now. Thanks
  24. Earp here. Thanks for all the responses. Keep 'em coming. In response to the last post, since my listening room is fairly large, I will be looking at the 15 inch. Anybody near eastern NC or southern Va that has one? Would like to hear one. Also, looking at the SVS subs, but which model? Leaning towards the PCplus maybe. Would like to hear this speaker also. These are only sold online, correct? I guess used also. Saw they also have B-stock. Tanks!
