  1. note for those looking that these are the old Coaster seats.....the newer ones are MUCH better.....
  2. well I had taken minn_male's advice last weekend and went for a more powerful amp, the Crown XLS 402. I definitely can tell a difference in my RF-35s. I have a more full sound and it has helped the bass. There is a 100 page discussion over at avsforum about pro-amps and the general consensus is that this Crown XLS 402 amp ($250 at guitar center) can keep up with amps over $2000 or more.

I think i've decided on the final system: Sony DES-995 Receiver RF-35 x 2 RS-35 x 2 RC-35 RW-12 Last question, do you recommend going with RF-35 or RB-35 for the fronts? Room size is not a concern. I watch a lot of DVDs, so that is my main consideration on which to go with. Thanks John ---------------- I'd go with the RF-35s.....For this package MSRP would be $2650.....buying this all from one place, you could probably get it for $2100. the MSRP on the RW-12 is $650 and you could look at a few other brands to possibly get a better value.

Would I need to get an amp or would my Sony DES-995 be enough to power the R-35 speakers? John ---------------- I am not familiar with the Sony, so I can't say. I'd recommend going to a local dealer, since most places on the internet are not authorized dealers. The only authorized dealers I have seen are vanns.com and bestbuy.com. If you don't buy from an authorized dealer, you get no warranty, so I bought all of my speakers from an authorized dealer.
  5. ---------------- I'm assuming that I wouldn't be missing out on a whole lot by going with the F2s over the F3s? Sorry about all these questions, I'm a college student so this is kind of a major purchase for me and I want to make an informed decision with whatever I buy. Thanks for all your help! John ---------------- To me, the F-2 and F-3 were a big difference. If you have heard them and don't think the difference is too large, good.
  6. don't know why it is double posting....
  7. From BB website.... pair of S-2s - $400 pair of F-2s - $650 C2 - $250 Synergy 12" - $500 Total of $1800 You could get the RB-35 system for around $1350 minus the sub (I'd recommend looking at SVS for affordable solutions) You could probably get an RF-35 system for $1650 minus the sub SvS sub for as little as $429. That means you could get the RB-35 cheaper than BB Synergy or the RF-35 for a couple hundred more. The difference between the Reference and Synergy series were enough for me to go with the Reference. Again, go listen for yourself
  8. To me, a nice alternative would be to go with the Reference 35 series.....They can be had for the same price or less than the Best Buy prices on Synergy.... To me, the Synergy were too bright and didn't have enough bass.....the Reference series fixed all of that...... either way it should be an improvement over what you have now....the best way to figure out the best option is for you to go listen to them.....

Other 200 watt amps to look at would be Crown amps, QSC and other pro amps. The RF-7s have an impedance minimum per S&V of 2.8 ohms or 3.5 ohms in Home Theater mag. The minimum impedance requires an amp that is truly high current. If an amp has good power ratings at 4 and 2 ohms and a clean first watt, then it should be ideal for the RF-7s. IMO it is not the total watts avaialble at 8 ohms that is important. It is the watts doubleing form 8 to 4 and doubleing again at 2 ohms that tells me the amp has the power needed to keep frequency response level. Another useful number is the amps peak to peak. It takes good output devices and a good power supply to produce peak amps. Again, a clean first watt is required. Bill ---------------- for the price, I don't think the Crown amps can be beat.....$250 for a 260W/channel amp...... minn_male helped me in my search for an amp for RF-35s and he was right on......
  10. you could also look at doing seperates.....find a cheaper pre/pro and go with a pro-amp to drive the RF-7 and RC-7.....
  11. i'd imagine it's an issue with the SAT box then.....check the setting on that.

  13. also, i just re-read your last line about more bass.....this was definitely the case with the Crown amp....that is where I noticed most of the difference.
  14. I had asked this question last week and I found some responses that at some peak levels, more power might be required and you will be missing some of the sound. As for the amp, I have followed what some people on this forum (and many at avsforum) have suggested and that is to go with a pro-amp. I chose the Crown XLS 402 to use in my system (RF-35 system as well). I have noticed a big improvement by going with this amp. This amp is a 2 channel amp and can be had for about $250. I plan on buying one more for my center channel and then letting my receiver power the other channels. This seems to be a cheap and efficient way of getting more power and better sound. go check out avsforum and you can see that some trials have been run and most people cannot tell a difference between this amp and some other ones at around $4000. The only drawback to the pro-amp is the fan noise (which isn't that great) and can be eliminated with a quick mod to the amp

  16. I like the RF-35 idea....you should be able to get 2 pair RF-35s and a RC-35 for $2000
  17. I will post a review after I have more time with it this week.....as for fan noise, it isn't too much of a problem....if it becomes more irritating, I will follow the advice on the threads over at avsforum....many people have been able to address this issue My short time with this amp shows a marked improvement over my receiver......can't wait to get one more amp for the center.....still can't decide though whether to get the 402 or the 202 for the center.....
  18. I started hearing this some during DVE test tones.....one second it was work, the next it wasnt....I just want some new speaker wire to this and thought it could have been the connection, but it didn't seem to be the issues..... It has gone away now, but is there any idea why this could happen on and off?
  19. I have the Crown XLS 402 setup and everything works very well.......
  20. is this the neuneo one? I'm interested in this as well since my HDTV only has component

I've used it with KSF8.5's, RF-3II's, KLF-20's and 30's, all sounded superb. Most everyone agrees that Pararsound and Klipsch make for a good combo. With the high efficiency of Klipsch you don't need power. This amp would probably be the equivalent of a reciever thats in the 120-130w/ch range. ---------------- I bought the Crown XLS 402....I'll see how these work and if I'm not happy, I'd be interested in the Parasound..... Now, the RF-35s are rated at a max continuous of 150W and peak of 500W, with the Crown, the max/channel is 260W.....I imagine I will never use all of the power, so there isn't a risk of speaker damage....am I correct? Also, if these work out, should I get an XLS 202 and bridge it to provide power to the RC-35?

  23. one more stupid question.....what kind of cables are used to connect the processor to the amp?
  24. found a local guitar center with it....so i will be going to look shortly....
