  1. As posted in the SBLive! & AE thread: DVD drive for under $200? That pretty much includes them all. I ended up ordering a Sony 12X for around $70. There are a lot of drives that you can get from 70-100. I doubt that there wil be much of a difference between them. Also, I believe that the 12X and the 16X read CDROM at 40X so I just went with the 12X. I can always get a 3rd CDROM drive if I wanted sometime in the future if needed I will be getting the rest of the shipments on monday and should ahve my system up and running then. I will let you know how the DVD drive is

    c.d.rom drives

I don't really think there is much difference between a 12X and a 16X DVD drive. Both seem to be spec'd to read CDROM at 40X so I ended up saving money and getting a Sony 12X.

    FTP Problems

hmm.. I have never had a problem with that. It might be something on the server end. Also, might want to try using Interenet Explorer to FTP by typing in the form: username@host.address and it should ask for the password.

  5. oo.. I only have 32MB.. oh well.. it works wonders as is. I agree Seb, mostly the memory bandwidth bottleneck I'll OC my RAM in a bit and will enjoy it.
  6. Put it this way.. I used to think about them all day. But it got to the point where I already knew what I was thinking before I even thought about it.
  7. Don't really have to post, I just like to. Doesn't really bother me not having a set of Pros, I guess I do have control, but knowing that I will be getting a set soon helps. Also, it's not like I thnk about the Pros all day long plus being in college helps to take my mind off things. When times get tough, I just close my eyes and use my imagination. I already have Pros, but YOU can't see them, only me.
  8. At least you are letting yourself get acclimated to them. From what I have gathered, it is like a new pair of glasses, ya need to give them time to get used to them as for the Pros, sure, your ears may bleed a little, but after all that, you should like them I can hardly wait to get a set
  9. All I will say is that I am glad I don't have a GeForce2Ultra - I'm richer without it
  10. What? Nerver give up! I have been farting around with only 2 channels of audio for the past 3 years and am about to embark on the 4-channel Klipsch world. I take it you disabled the onboard audio? How many PCI slots do you have and what is in each? Just seeing what the situation is. Also, what other hardware/devices do you have hooked up in your system?
  11. I stick with nVidia - best driver support I had a Riva 128 <4MB> but recently upgraded to a Annihilator2 and I love it. Im sure I will be able to play games just as good as the GF2Ultra for less than half the money <$180>, a GF2 GTS 32MB, some cooling, and some tweakin.
  12. Not true.. It is better to have the CDRW on a seperate IDE channel , DVDROM, and each HD - thanks god for onboard RAID] With IDE, each channel can only send or receive to one device at a time so if youhave to have 2 devices on one channel, it would be better to have CDburner on its own channel and HD and CDROM on the other However, the distance between devices is the limiting factor and I could not hook my CDROM and HD on teh same channel from where they were Keep you HD on IDE1 and see where the other devices fit. It sounds to me there is a setting or something thta needs to be changed - make sure you have the correct drivers installed for the burner With older burners it is best to not have anything running in the background otherwise you may get underruns I had no problems with EZCDCreator. Also.. look in your device manager Is DMA box checked? If it is, try unchecking it and see if that helps If it is already uncheck'd.. Id leave it unchecked until you get it working - depends on the burner, some can have it checked.. some can't 1X should be the slowest possible See if any of this helps and let us know Good-luck
  13. ya.. the v.2-400 will never be obselete because they will still be Pros 5 years from now - able to blast the shorts off ya and give you good audio experience. As for the CP-1, try here for 1 review by Sputnik: "Note that this is my opinion only...any other opinions are the sole property of their respective opinionators. "
  14. might want to get that hack looked at - or at least suck on a throat drop or something.
  15. Ah.. Thanks for the info Seb. Didn't want to be let unknown we appreciate the time you took. I actually read a review on a burner that recommended what you do over what came with the burner and I was recently wondering where to get that. Thanks
  16. LOL.. that's a good one Janko. Ya.. it's true. I have been wanting a set for over a year now. Ya.. was about the fall of '99 when I came across the Klipsch website after searching the web for speakers. 400W.. WOW.. I had to get me a set So I went around for the past year or so telling all my friends about them.. by now they must think I will never get them. I actually had them ordered before Xmas but cancelled cause I didnt want to bother with transporting them home and back and the order got a little messed up It was for the best tho, cause I decided to wait for the new set to come out. Yep.. I been through it all on this BB.. the lowgain preamp, ducttape, cats flying, overclocking the pros, the 2.1, CP-1 and now 4.1 - and all without even owning a pair. I'd like to see the look on my friend's faces when I actually get a set in a little bit when the 41 comes out Muhahha So.. as you see.. waiting is no biggie for me. been listening to 2 channel sound from a AWE64V for 3years now out of ACS295.. I can wait a little longer for better 4pt bliss. You won't be dissappointed with the v.2-400, but you will probably wish you had a CP-1, so just wait - won't be long now so hang in there
  17. I'm just going to use my stereo for speakers in a week until the 4.1s come out
  18. Not as anxious as I am!! What's another week or so when I have been waiting for over a year. I better get my 5-pt harness, neckbrace, and duct tape ready. I might post warnings that Pros are coming in the hall. Im afraid I will be hated for a while I'll have to see how my classical sounds on them and, of course, watch a few scenes from select DVDs Anyhooo.. I am sure to be pleased with them, especially after reading all the pleased Klipsh-o-maniacs
  19. oh.. ok. guess I read the 4.1 info at the store wrong. Glad to hear they are testing still. Thanks for clearing that up, Amy~ ~Some things in life are worth waiting for~
  20. 17" w/ 1600X1200.. wow.. I though I was crazy at 1280X1024 I am surprised the Dell Triny doesnt do it I honestly would not say that a buzzing monitor denotes lower quailty. I would be disappointed if my new monitor <19" Sony Triny> does not buzz. If i remember correctly, my bro's Sherwood NewCastle Amp buzzes on the final click as it goes through to turn the power on to the different channels so I see it as a sign of quality in the Amps of electronics. Im not sayin you are wrong, just noting my opinion. I cannot say that what you have observed of the years is wrong - what you see is what you see. hmm.. I guess I will see if the 19"Triny buzzes in a week.. will let you know.
