  1. If your receiver is plugged into a power conditioner/surge protector...try plugging it in directly to the wall outlet and see if hum goes away.
  2. "So you did not hear the RVX-42" My mistake...YES the center I heard was the RVX-42...not the RCX-4... It sounded very detailed and was very clear with dialogue.
  3. The System I heard had (4) RVX54s and (1) RCX-4 for the center. It sounded very strong....and if I had not been able to (quickly) A/B the two systems...I would have thought that the RVX was on par with the RF35's...the difference was not earth shattering...however, the RF35's are fuller in the mid bass. Regarding the RCX...it sounded a little thinner than the RC35. The "chestyness" in the vocals that you have experienced..is there...but it is amplified by placing it underneath the TV. If you have to do this...make sure that the woofers break the plane of the shelf/cabinet. This will clean up the response somewhat. If you go with the RVX's...you will be very satisfied. Sounded great with movie material...and even better with music! From viewing your pictures...I feel the RVX's would aesthetically fit that space better! I attached a picture of my "hidden" RF15's.
  4. I am in your exact situation. When I brought home the RF35 system...my wife freaked! The RS35's are pretty wide and posed a problem for me. I actually swapped those out and placed the RF15's in the rear and they hid better behind some "fake trees/ficus" we have in the rear corners. I had the opportunity to audition both the RVX54 and the RF35's. To my ear... the RF35's sounded fuller and presented a wider and more dense sound stage. Both speakers had detailed extension and midrange....because I was able to quickly A/B the two...I could determine the advantages of the RF35. If I would have only listened to the RVX system...I would have been satisfied and had a happier wife! Does this advantage outweigh the potential "marital strife" caused by the "manliness" of thr RF35's...who knows? I did hear a complete RVX54 setup: (4) RVX54's and the RVX42 for the center....sounded really good! Reminded me of the sound from the DefTeck Mythos...really nice!! I think you would be very satisfied with the RVX system! Also...the RVX will play loud...so don't think it is wimpy!! You already have a great sub...so the RVX 54's won't have to do heavy lifting...
  5. JewishAMerPrince' I just pulled up your system profile.....WOW! Can I come over?
  6. A Klipsch Rep told me the "Premiers" are only a concept...and if marketed would sell in the stratospheric range with other brands such as Krell, Wilson Audio, Revel, etc. Is this what you have heard? If so....I am not eagerly awaiting those!
  7. I was going to post but minn_male42...stole my thunder! DITTO
  8. I am currently using the Denon 4802 as a preamp...and frankly, feel it does a great job! I must not have "golden ears" because I have a hard time hearing a difference between the Denon (used as a preamp) and the Outlaw 950. I sent the Outlaw back because of this. I guess my ignorance is bliss????
  9. I have put together a HT system comprised of the Ref.35's across the front with the RF15's in the back (5.1 setup). I am wondering if Klipsch is ever going to offer a mod. or upgrade to the "plastic" feet for these speakers? The problem with the design is that they only attach with a single screw....allowing the feet to pivot (slightly) from side to side when speaker is moved. This damages/scratches the speaker at the edges of the feet and the cabinet. Klipsch should modify this foot so as to have a single piece that spans the two bolt holes for the front and back. The two bolt holes would stop the "pivoting" and subsequent cabinet damage. On most "professional" reviews...this is seen as an area needing improvement. Any ideas? Mike Sloan Happy Klipsch owner
  10. The Outlaw 200W Monoblocks will drive the RF-7's to insane levels! I took the plunge and ordered the amps from Outlaw with the notion that I was going to probably return them prior to their 30 day trial period....I still have them. For the money they can't be beat! For Home-theater material you may find that running the RF7's at 80Hz and above and letting the sub handle the rest to be the best option. For 2 channel listening...full range is great...especially with the Outlaw M200's. I also would double check the wiring and make sure nothing is shorted. Unless you were really cranking it...the Pioneer should not have gone into protection mode.
  11. Speakers would be out of phase. There would be a lack of bass, and the stereo image would not be coherent. You would loose all 3-dimensionality in the soundstage, as well. It's a good idea to purchase a setup DVD...like Avia or the "Sound and Vision" for doing all these checks. Speaker level and phase are among the most important. Can also make sure the sub is in phase with the rest of the system.
  12. Amy Unger, I re-read my post and feel it probably was a little strong. I believe you when you say: "You thought it was resolved along time ago." Anyway...I am glad that this is being resolved and we can start fretting over our next Klipsch purchase!!!
  13. Hi RedTop: The only reason I am leaning towards the 7's is that I love that "fresh out of the box" smell!! Kidding aside...the 30's have been sold...my loss? I am considering a RF-7/Aragon purchase...but am now hesitant after reading comments over at Audioholichs and at the Klipsch forum " Hometheater thread" regarding the RSW15 subwoofer fiasco. Befor I drop the big bucks...I have to feel comfortable with the customer support group at Klipsch.
  14. I am starting to believe that their is a disconnect between the "KLIPSCH MODERATORS" and anyone at Klipsch that is in a position to "ACT" or make "DECISIONS." Klipsch is "brick and mortar" and has not adapted to the same level of customer care that an SVS, HSU, AXIOM, ONIX, ASCEND....internet only company has achieved. To make matters worse....none of their SUB offerings can even hope to approach the performance of an SVS PB12-Plus/2. (http://www.svsubwoofers.com/subs_pb12_plus_2.htm). This whole fiasco is making the harsh criticisms over at audioholics ring true!!!!! Check this out: http://www.audioholics.com/FAQs/aragon.html I think I may hold off on the Ref. 7/Aragon purchase for a while and see if things work out like they should...would not want to get stuck with $7000.00+ product and "questionable" customer support!
  15. Thanks for all the great feedback! I just heard the RF-7's at Melton's in Atlanta....and they sounded great! I could not tell a significant difference in the top end when compared to the RF-35's...however the sweet spot was larger and the bass extension was easily evident(room acoustics were not optimal). They will allow me to bring them home for audition...I will do that soon. When is the "Premier Series" going to be introduced?
  16. How does that Denon 3802 drive your RF-7's? Are you afraid of clipping the signal? That's why I went with the MonoBlocks. Due to the "Dynamic Range" in movies, I was constantly worried I would be clipping the signal and potentialy harming my speakers. I run the RF-35's crossed over at 80Hz...so I don't hear a huge difference between the Denon and the Outlaws. I think that I may drive the RF-7's with the new Outlaw 300W X 7 amp...when it comes available!!!
  17. After reading this...I will never purchase Klipsch from an "internet" dealer....H___, you can't get resolution through an "authorized dealer." I actually think Klipsch is Ultimately responsible here. Who determines whether a store is "AUTHORIZED"....Klipsch does! I truly believe you will get a new subwoofer in the end. It would be comforting to have a more visible response from Klipsch. It would give the readers of this forum a confidence in their Klipsch product and promote future purchases! A huge reason I buy subs from SVS and HSU is directly related to their "PERFECT" customer support!
  18. I am in Atlanta...so Utah would be a stretch....however a ski trip could be in the works! I currently have the RF35's in the front and have the RF15's in the back...really sounds good. I am currently finishing out a basement and am considering the RF-7/Aragon route. bchild311, you mention that you decrease the treble somewhat on the 7's.... are they more forward/bright than the RF35's? My only criticism of the 35's is that I wish they had a tad more extension....plenty of mid/treble energy..just lacking in the most upper tweeter range...to me. I am currently driving the 35's with a Denon 4802 and (3) Outlaw 200W monoblocks for the F/C/R...letting the Denon power the rears. SVS PC-Ultra does the heavy lifting (speakers crossed over at 80Hz). This is my first experience with Klipsch, and I must say I am blown away by their presentation...very lively! bchild311...how is the sub fiasco proceeding?
  19. Has anyone heard or compared these two speakers against one another? I have an opportunity to purchase a pair of KF-30's....but wonder if the RF-7's are considered better? I know Klipsch is getting back into the 3 way with the upcoming "Premier Line." Any thoughts????
  20. This whole fiasco is alarming. I just purchased a whole Klipsch Speaker package from a local dealer here in Atlanta...a mom/pop store...not a chain..so hope I have better luck when the potential problems arise. I had an amp problem with an HSU VTF3 sub ...and they sent me a new one 2day FedEx the next day! I know SVS does the same.... I guess the bigger you get the more you loose that personal touch and accountability. Keep us posted on the resolution!!!
  21. Thanks for all the feedback! I have had more time to listen to the RF35's and really like their warm presentation. I A/B'd the RF35's directly against the Axiom M80's, the Boston Acoustics VR2's and the B&W Nautilus 804's....and have determined that I prefer the sound of the Klipsch....overall. It's the midrange I keep coming back to. For example, on the new Mark Knopfler CD "Shangri-La"...his voice has much more depth and richness on the Klipsch. The Axiom has more extension in the tweeter..but tends to get a little edgy with extensive listening (very good speaker, however...but I am sending them back...ouch.) The VR-2's are really nice...but are slightly bloated on the bottom end (when driving them full range.) The B&W's are very nice for 2 channel...but are too polite for double duty/hometheater application....plus they cost too D--- much! Answering the post regarding Denon vs Outlaw. I can't really hear any sonic difference at moderate listening levels. Both sound identical. When you start "cranking it" the outlaw monoblocks seem to have more authority over the woofers...less flutter. I also feel more comfortable knowing that I won't clip the signal at higher volumes...looks cooler too! The Denon has a great pre-amp stage and is a really good match for the Outlaws.
  22. I don't agree with their review. I had the opposite experience. I compared the RC25 (in my home) against the Boston Acoustics VRC, CSW MC300 and the Axion 150. I felt that the RC25 had a significant edge in bass response over the VRC and gave weight to vocals...very warm sounding. It also was not as bright as either the VP150 or the VRC. I gave the Klipsch the edge over the other centers based on it's "mid-range" warmth and dialogue inteligibility.
  23. Hi all...I am new to these forums and have just purchased my "first" Klipsch speaker system. Currently driving them with Denon 4802 and (3) Outlaw M200 monoblocks for the front array. I am letting Denon drive the rears. I purchased Rf35/RC35 for the fronts and RF15's for the rears...strictly a 5.1 setup. I keep reading reviews where the overiding impressions are that Klipsch are "bright" and have too much treble energy. Comparing my RF35's to the B&W Nautilus 804's (which I own)...I would not say they are bright at all. If anything they don't seem to have as much extension in the very top end. I feel the Klipsch have superior "mid-range" warmth and imaging....but perhaps are not as refined at the very top end. I don't mean this in a negative sense...it may be that the B&W are, themselves, too bright. I can't say which is more accurate? I love the warmth and presence of the Klipsch...and after getting use to their (rather forward/lively) presentation...feel the B&W's are sort of flat and 2 dimensional! Am I out in left field here??? Any input would help regarding others impressions of the very top end tweeter response. It may be that I need to get used to the "horn" characteristics.
