  1. Ive listened to the Jm Lab Nova Utopias with Boulder amplification and Accuphase source. (at Sound Minds in Austin, TX) I can honestly say that it was one of the best sounding systems Ive ever listened to. Granted, it was in perfect conditions... the amps were warmed up for several days before listening, the room was well treated, the cables were big $$$ Tara labs, etc.. On some tracks, it was sounded like you were there at the venue. On others, it sounded like the solist was standing in the room right in front of you. If I were blindfolded, and you had a bass guitarist standing in the room, I wouldnt be able to tell you if it were the real thing or just the system reproducing it.
  2. Dean, So you don't like SET amps? Or do you mean just with those speakers?
  3. The reason I am asking is because I am interested in using SET amplification with some Fortes. I see that they are 98-99db efficient, which is a good sign. Is there any reason that the Forte's would not be good with SET amplifiers? Thanks
  4. I saw another post like this, except asking about the Heresy... so I figured id ask about the forte. Does anyone know the minimum impedance of the Forte or Forte II? OR better yet, does anyone have a impedance graph for this speaker? Im interested most in the Forte, but wouldn't mind finding out the impedance of some of the other Heritage Klipsch members like the Chorus and LaScala. I did find some information showing that the minimum impedance of the Cornwall is around 5 ohms. I found that information here: http://www.belgaudio.com/kcmeasurements2.htm Thanks
  5. If you download Tivo's Desktop software from their website, it now will allow you to copy stuff to the computer... However, I think the copying portion is still in "beta", so you must request a particular beta version of the Tivo Operating system for your Tivo.. (they send it automaticaly to the machine during the nightly updates) I think there is a link to the request page on the website near where you download the Tivo Desktop Software.
  6. Ummmm... Those are "No Delivery/Pickup only" in Chicago. :-( I saw those too.
  7. You could also try the Sony SCD-CE595. It plays SACDs and sounds pretty darn good with Redbook CDs for only $150. The SACD playback is excellent for that price. However, Ive also heard the Jolida JD-100, and if I had the choice, I would probably go with the Jolida, only because it sounds especially good with Redbook CD, which is what most of my music is in.
  8. Hi, Im looking for some Fortes, either 1 or 2 in Oiled Walnut in good condition. I am in South Florida. Ive been watching Ebay, but havent found any yet. Thanks
  9. Hah... Well, if there ever was a good example of a speaker that a girlfriend/wife would throw out onto the curb, it is an old Cornwall. If I brought a set of Cornwalls home, my wife would would probably physically attack me in an involuntary convulsion. ("sorry honey, I dont know what came over me... When I saw the speaker, my arm just automatically threw the iron at your head... ") At least with the Khorn, you MIGHT be able to cammoflauge it in the corner, since the front of it is mostly a big pane of wood.
  10. I am just posting this for the benefit of those in Seattle. I couldnt believe this when I saw this ad on Craigslist: A pair of what appear to be Klipsch cornwalls for sale ANY OFFER. The person selling doesnt seem to know what they are... THe title of the ad is "Enormo Klipsch Speakers" Here is the text of the ad: Age: Unknown. Origin: Grandpa. Large, apparently Klipsch, speakers. Girlfriend says they are worth nothing & leave them on the curb for the first taker. Boyfriend says they are worth something. (Read: stupid boyfriend does not want to part with giant speakers -that actually belong to girlfriend...so why does he have any say anyway?). Make us an offer & resolve a domestic dispute. Dimensions 36" x 25" x 15.5". See photos. I hope its not too late for these speakers.... http://seattle.craigslist.org/ele/60053528.html
