  1. Stephen stills had prostate cancer surgery on 1/3/2008. His wife reports every thing went extemety well and isn't expecting any future problems. His up coming solo tour is still on schedule.
  2. Does anyone know what size Diaphram the k 52 H driver has ? Are they a good driver ?
  3. Congrats! it should be a real treat for your daughter. I just found out this morning that Neil is coming to Buffalo. Date and venue hasnt been announced yet. We are pretty lucky as Neil seems to always make quite a few stops along the Great Lakes.
  4. I like my technics sl 1600 MKII as good as any table I have ever owned. Its not as pretty as some but it sure is funtional and built like a tank. I like not having to lift the dust cover to access the touch buttons. I really like the quartz lock speed and strobe. green LCD light when its dead on, red if its to fast or to slow.but the thing I like most about it is the touch button start/stop and the touch button cueing. No more broken vn35e stylus's. I havn't had a stylus mishap since I have been using the sl1600 MKII's. I have the shure m97e for albums that are less than perfect. the shure V15 type III with vn35he stylus for nice albums. I have had the thorens TD124, TD160, and TD165. the Dual 1229, 1229Q, and cs7000. Marantz 6300's. I admit my hearing isnt the greatest but my used 200.00 technics sl1600 MKII sound as good if not better than any of the rest of them.
  5. You can try getting tickets through the Neil Young Fan Club pre ticket sales. There will be some more fan club pre sales coming up in early november for the last leg of the tour. I wasn't able to land the Massey hall tickets through the pre sale so I had to go to eBay. The eBay seller I bought them from is eBay user pai1975. He let me exchange my Chicago front row tickets towards the Massey Hall 2nd row Tickets. He had another pair of 2nd row Massey Hall Tickets for 999.99 Buy it Now but they sold shortly after being listed. The last time I checked he still had a pair of Front row pit tickets for Chicago 11/12/07 899.99 buy it now.
  6. I really love the Heart of Gold version of "The Old Laughing Lady" brings tears to my eyes everytime. I like Live at Massey Hall alot to. There has been alot of talk about ticket prices. I wish they weren't so much so more of the younger folks could see him. My wife and I have second row center floor seats to see him in Toronto at Massey Hall on 11/26/07. I had front row seats to see him in Chicago on his birthday (11/12/07) but sold them in favor of Massey Hall. My wife maybe able to go Toronto but definately couldnt have made the trip to Chicago. 999.99 for the 2 Massey Hall Tickets. The guy I bought the tickets from probably made 600.00 profit. I won't complain or apologize. I volunteered. I hope to get some great pics. The harley guys used to say if you have to ask you wouldnt understand if I told you. It's the same thing with the Neil Young faithful that will pay the price for the good seats. Massey Hall will be the 27th time I've seen Neil. If you happen to see a 1959 bio fuel/electric Lincoln going down the expressway, take a second look, the driver will be the greatest singer songwriter of all time.
  7. I don't really know how to post a link. If you google Neil young you will see Neil Young News. Maybe you could post the link. Thanks
  8. Go to Neil Youngs News page for Concert Dates and Track list. Looks like I will be going to Canada again. 2 nights at Massey Hall in Toronto. He will be touring with Ben Keith, Ralph Molina on Drums, Rick Rosas on bass, and his wife Pegi.
  9. Probably the humidity. Definately a downside to MDF construction. Thanks
  10. I have just listed a pair of 1985 Heresy II Oak Oiled speakers (with pic) in the Garage Sale Catagory. I noticed there is a tiny space where the side and bottom front veener miter cuts don't come together perfectly. Seems to me they should butt up tight to each other. Veener is not loose or chipped and there is no sign of moisture damage anywhere. the amount of space is identical on both speakers. I didnt notice it at first glance and probably most folks wouldnt notice it at all. I am probably being to nit picky but was wondering what your thoughts were. Thanks in advance. Doug
  11. Hello Kimball, First thing is to try through the fan club presale. The best I ever did through a fan club was second row. I bought some of the tickets on eBay. If all else fails I go to the concert a day early to get to the scalpers before anyone else does. I have been extremely lucky. And willing to pay the price.
  12. Neil Young is releasing a new CD. "Chrome Dreams II" And going on a 7 week tour. Release date and tour schedule hasnt been annouced yet. 3 previously written songs and 7 new songs. Talk on the street is there will be an 18 minute version of the previously unreleased song "Oridinary People". It's a great song.
  13. Thank you Tom, And thanks To whamo, and oldbuckster for the kind words. I really enjoyed that you sat and listened to some of my unrealeased Neil Young stuff. I have to say I was a little depressed seeing my cornwalls go outthe driveway. So depressed that I had to drive to Elbridge N.Y. (near Syracuse) today to buy a pair of Heresy II's. I really didnt need them but it helped with the depression. Hope you find an amp that will make the cornwalls sound as good as they did on my marantz 2325.
  14. Welcome, I live about 45 miles from the Peace Bridge that crosses the border from Buffalo N.Y. to Fort Erie Canada. I sold a pair of 800.00 Cornwalls to a guy from Toronto Ontario that paid the 15% duty to take them into Canada. I sold another pair of Cornwalls to a guy from Hamilton Ontario. I agreed to follow him back to Hamilton to help him carry them into his home. The Canadian Custums agents just waved him on through. I dont know whats going on with the Cornwall prices right now. I purchased a pair of K Horns and no longer have room for my last and nicest pair of Cornwalls. I have the Cornwall I's set up in a 10 x 10 bedroom but they never get used anymore. I would like to sell them but I can't justify losing money on them. I drove all the way to Finley Ohio to pick them up. If I could get the 900.00 I paid for them back I would let them go. They are absolutely flawless original 1984 Walnut Oiled. The pristine cane grills that are on them actually came with another pair of Cornwalls. K33 Woofers, K700 metal Mid horns with K 55 drivers, K 77m tweeters, The crossovers are original but I can't remember what model.
  15. I have a nice pair of original cornwall I risers (walnut oiled). Maybe someone here knows for sure if they are the same size as cornwall II risers. I am pretty sure they are the same.
  16. Congrats on the cornwalls. A year or so ago I drove from western N.Y. to Chicago to pick up my mint la scalas. Traveled the same stretch that you did. I went through during rush hour traffic with rain coming down in sheets. A huge construction project.Every thing was torn up. Detours, lane reductions, most of the route signs were laying on the ground. You took your life into your hands changing lanes. The locals were all going 65 or 70 mph. I can't imagine going through there with obstucted veiw. Glad you made it home safely.
  17. My guess is that the winner is from outside the country. The forum member that just bought my mint 1985 untouched raw birch heresy I's for 425.00 should feel pretty good. Other than not having the original boxes they are probably as nice as the 1200.00 pair.
  18. Man, I hope the seller hasnt misrepresented them as being new and unused.
  19. Welcome. It seems to me that most of the la scalas are either on the west coast or east coast. I have had 5 differant pairs of raw birch La scalas but never a black pair. Due to the size it is very easy to chip the outer ply on the lower corners. To find a pair with no veener chips is like finding a needle in a haystack. After the La scala II's were introduced Classic Audio in Vestal N.Y. had 2 pairs of new in the box 2004 la scalas. One pair of black and one pair of raw birch. I almost bought the pair of raw birch for 3240.00 tax included. It would have been a 450 mile round trip for me. Around the same time a very nice pair of raw birch sold on eBay for 2500.00. I ended up finding a pair of like new 1976 raw birch la scalas in Chicago. I paid 1200.00 for them and drove 1200 mile round trip to avoid shipping. In my opinion, not having to ship them is a BIG consideration. If you don't mind the black finish you should grab them quick. Stick 900.00 in one pocket and 100.00 in the other pocket. If you get them for 900.00 you will have made a great buy. Dont lose them over 100.00, give him the 1000.00. Like I said, not having to ship them is worth alot. Some of the guys think I am missing the main event not having tube gear. My K-Horns, La scalas, Cornwalls, and Heresy's all sound great on my vintage Marantz 2325 receivers.
  20. Definately a nice pair of heresy speakers. Original boxes make it a nice package. 2 years ago or so I purchased a pair just like them 25 miles away. I purchased them from a new widow. They were her husbands pride and joy. Didnt get the original boxes. Small outer ply veener chip on lower back corner of one speaker. Other than that pretty much perfect. They came with the slanted risers which I removed but still have. I built plywood end table type enclosures to prevent my wife from putting stuff on the top of them. Like most of my speakers, They never get used. They came with the 701 plastic mid horns but now have k700 metal horns with k55v drivers. Still have the k701 metal horns that I would reinstall. I would sell them for 425.00 plus packing and shipping.
  21. It was a great show. The girl that sang the solo was the high point for me. She was off the chart. What a voice.
  22. Going to see Roger Waters tonight at Darien Lake N.Y.. Not a big Pink Floyd fan but its only 25 miles away and I got a front row seat. If they don't take my camera I will post some pics.
  23. The la scalas listed on Audiogon used to be mine . I traded them to the guy in Marcellus towards my 1976 K Horns. I purchased that pair of lascalas for 900.00 and drove up to Toronto and picked them up. 900.00 was to much but being so close they were worth it to me. I owned them for a couple of months. They were unfinished raw birch when I owned them but the guy in Marcellus (Jason) darked them up a bit with old english. They look much better now. Jason contacted me to see if I wanted to buy them back. I still have the mint pair of raw birch lascalas that I picked up in Chicago. I paid 1200.00 for my Chicago Lascalas and drove 1200 mile round trip to get them. Jason has given me a couple days to think about it on the condition that if someone shows up with 700.00 cash in hand he will sell them. I have flirted with the idea of buying them for outdoor use. I don't want to risk scratching my Chicago la scalas by moving them around. If someone were to buy my chicago la scalas for 1200.00 I would buy the 700.00 lascalas back and not worry if I scratched them moving them in and out with a 2 wheel handtruck. To be absolutely honest, My KHorns are the only speaker I listen to these days.
