  1. Sorry, positiv, but i wouldn't recommend that. Vintage equipment is a little different field than new stuff, at least that's what i get from all my readings. A qualified vintage SS technician is best.
  2. If they aren't veneered, are they just regular plywood? Yeah, i want to get them, but i think i might wait, which isn't easy, but with starting my job i might need to get some tools, so i need that kind of thing first. A pair will be around sometime. A couple months ago there were a couple pairs in philly.
  3. Yeah, how could you guys persuade me from buying cornwalls?[] I talked to the guy and he said everyone that is interested wants them shipped so they must be far away. Now i just have to decide if i want to splurge. I hope after these, i am not going to need anything for a while do you think? I like taking big steps and i think this is like near the last step as far as fronts, so that's a good thing. Yeah, with the cornwalls where my mains are now, i am not sure where to place the sf-1's unless it won't sound bad using the cornwalls with sc-1, but sc-1 prolly will. Wow, i thought of something crazy. I don't know if it would sound good, but using both of the sf-1's as the center.
  4. HAHA, very good thinking. Maybe down the road a little bit.
  5. One problem, I would like to keep my sf-1's in HT, because my sc-1 prolly won't match very well with cornwalls as mains. I'm not sure how i would arrange my setup for the cornwalls and sf-1's to be in the front at the same time. Any ideas. I attached a picture of my setup now.
  6. Nope, i didn't get them yet. I don't know much about that pilgrimage, but i am quite a ways from indy, and i start work this week so i wouldn't be able to come out. Is that like a big klipsch get together because that would be cool. Persuading me from buying them isn't working too well, but i figured that. HAHA.
  7. Yeah, your welcome. I am completely sorry about your friend, and i would be doing the same thing you are doing. I hope all turns out well.
  8. Check out Echowars from audiokarma. He's in kansas city, mo, last i knew. I know there was something with him taking up a job in idaho, so i don't know if is still doing repairs or not, but he is the guy to go to. Highly recommended by me and everyone at audiokarma who had work done by him. Most people compare him as Craig to tubes as he is to SS. Shoot him an email. He'll get back to you, but i don't know if he's busy or not, but he'll let you know. I'll email you or pm you his email address.
  9. Here's another pic just to show the only defect on them which can easily be filled.
  10. I'll tell you, the bug is biting me pretty good again. Now that my tube amp is all fixed i feel like i need some 'join the madness' heritage speakers. I am starting work this monday in commercial construction, so i should be able to afford them fairly soon. I want to save my money, but i figure i could splurge just this once then save. I hopefully wouldn't need anything else for a long time in my two channel system. I have a scott 233 and i wonder if pairing it up with some cornwalls would be a smart choice. I know everyone is either chorus's, forte's, or cornwall fans or a mix of both. I've read a lot about both, and i remember cornwalls aren't as good for badly recorded material which i have a lot of burnt cd's, and some sound decent and some don't. I can tell that with what i have now, so i don't know if i should let that phase me or not. I listen to mostly rock, classic and new, and some blues, but mostly rock of different genres. I've been talking about them on another thread http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/886585.aspx. They are 1975 model, cornwall decorator raw birch, but were stained fruitwood color and the front grill was added. I read the earlier models sound better, but that's probably a personal thing. They look nice though. I could get them for $725, and that's the lowest because i already knocked him down, and it's not too far of a drive. I am not sure if i should wait for another pair or dive on these. I would like to hear your expert advise as i always do before a decision. It saves me time and money, and i always appreciate it.
  11. He stained them a fruitwood color while he had them. I thought the price was high. I offered him $600-$700.
  12. What do you think would be a fair price for these? There is a gauge on one of them, but i'll show a picture. The guys wants $800 obo.
  13. Thanks for the info. Since these are made in 1975, are they cornwall 1's? They look like II's.
  14. Is the pie slice logo on the grill because i don't see it on the picture of the one i'm looking at?
  15. Is there a way to know what drivers or tweeters are in them or do you have to pull the back off?
  16. I also agree with buckeye. What the heck, my dad has klf's and a yamaha rxv-659 and it impresses me for HT and it's not always so easy to please me. Anyhow, to original post, for the that price range you could get the Emotiva lmc-1, lpa-1 setup, and that would be a separates system. They seem to be highly raved about here lately.
  17. Do the drivers in cornwall last forever or any heritage last forever as far as material durability. I didn't know what they were made of.
  18. If you can, i would just hang them from the wall instead of the ceiling. That's how i have mine. I just have a screw into a stud and i hang them from that. It works fine.
  19. That's what i thought but wasn't sure. I wonder what the other numbers mean then. At this model year did they have the good woofers and tweeters in them. I know all cornwalls do but I was reading about what year was the best and i wonder if these are a good year.

I loved the movie also. I found it to be one of my top fighting movies, and the story was riveting.
  21. Thanks, that's going to take some studying. So would the serial number i gave be 83's?
  22. How do you classify by the serial number what year a heritage speaker is. Like there is Cornwall with a serial number of 5N831 and type CD-BR. What does the type stand for also? I thought this would help me and other people when looking for heritage klipsch speakers to know what years they are without asking all the time.
  23. Yep, the hard work paid off. Even my pap was impressed which isn't easy to do. The fish and aquarium and live plants are my mom's hobby. Thanks for all the comments so far.
