I have a pair of KG 5.5s for sale. These were my babys until I found a pair of La Scala that I have wanted it seems forever. No scuffs or marks of any kind. Black finish is mint and I stand by that. What a great site this is, and what a entirely incredible experiance KLIPSCH LA SCALA has turned out to be!! I am listening to the Gladiator soundtrack now, I must get a DB meter to tell the clean, clear, beautiful SPLs my La Scala are generating from a 14 w/p/c vintage Eico HF-81, MAGIC IN MY HOME is all I can say. I got the La Scala home in a driving rainstorm, miraculously unharmed and dry. In concert with my Eico HF-81 integrated amp they are makeing beautiful music. My question to you Klipschophiles out there is, At what angle do you think these speakers(that I have wanted since I knew of their existance) should they be situated. Cheers, nightrider

I would like to pose a question to you Klipshophiles. I get zero distortion from my just aquired La Scala speakers no mater how many SPLs I chose to imploy! My question is, are all the heritage speakers the same in this respect? I am overwhelmed by the lack of distortion as the volume nears uncomfortable levels. Holy realism Batman. nightrider

I would add that I just sold what has to be one of the best and most highly regarded single ended pentode, Decware Taboo. This amp has 6wpc and a matching single ended triode pre amp. With a Pair of La Scala I could listen at low levels to great sounds, but the amp was always pegged and seemed out of breath on some passages. I admit I like my music loud enough to hear all the details, pretty loud. My dad left me an Eico HF-81 14wpc integrated, with this little jewel the SPLs are all anyone would ever want. It has been refurbished and the capacitors have been replaced, it now sounds as good as the Decware sep, and has bass and SPLs to burn for the La Scala. Jazz, classical, country, folk, hard rock,classic top40s, anything but rap crap, I like it all. Six watts is not enough for me to get all the music, no matter how great that six watts is, I like the music to fill the room. nightrider

I was amazed at that outcome, but the Decware TABOO had no more air, bloom, soundstage or musical ability! And the little Eico had headroom all over the TABOO, which enabled it to do a much better job with the most demanding passages of music. After a harrowing 1200 mile round trip in driving rain storms my La Scala are now home. They are beautiful in sound and looks. They are medium oak with a rosewood grille surround. I would like to tell any who lust for La Scala, don't be concerned with tall tales of truncated bass responce. In my setup the bass is clear and strong, suprising after reading some of the posts on this forum and others. The instruments, be they string, woodwind, piano, percussion or voice are the same size as the real thing. The absolute detail and "realness" are somthing I have not heard in my systems ever before. The reproduction of live music is what we strive for, and La Scala has given me a sound as close as any I have heard in any home. The vintage Eico HF-81 matches perfectly, the Eico/Mullard tubes produce in the La Scala , MAGIC. Why would I want to put a subwoofer in to damage the synergy and the sound? To those contemplating La Scala, take the advice of a lifetime searcher of music, and jump in with both feet. Nightrider

Dave,try the Eico HF-81 with the La Scala. I find the Eico to have an abundance of good clean bass, I think that you will be supprised. the Eico/Mullards have the musical balls it takes to my ears and way of thinking. Cheers, nightrider

I will not presume to know Paul W. Klipsch's mind, but some of the La Scala I have seen are simply beautiful. I saw one pair done in piano black lacquer that was stunning. I know that doesn't make them sound better, or does it? I have purchased a very nice looking medium oak pair that will add to the feel of my great room. La Scala never beautiful, BAH! Thanks guys, Scott I very much appreciate your input and comments. My Eico HF-81 and your HH Scott 299B are the two best vintage amps that I have heard . My HF-81 has a complete set of tubes made by Mullard for Eico that perform magic with the KG5.5s. I think the La Scalas will take to their music production beautifully, I CAN'T WAIT!! nightrider
