  1. Thanks for all the responses! Its good to hear real-life experiences.

I sit about 6 feet from the back wall. My KG 3.5s are just behind my sectional, sitting right next to the side walls, aimed at the main listening position.

There's a couple KG 3.5 pairs that have been on eBay that I've been thinking about. They're medium oak just like the ones I have now so they'd match well both visually and sonically. I like the narrow cabinet of the 3.5, doesn't take up too much floor space.

If I ever find a good deal on a KG floorstanding pair I'll definitely get them. I bought my current ones on eBay for $150 and the seller only was an hour away so I was able to pick them up.

  2. I protect mine with just one look.

I like that! I've used my Fortes for DJ'ing a couple dances and inevitably there's kids that are always messing around by the speakers and on the stage. Only takes one look for them to realize they're in serious trouble if they do anything stupid.

  3. When I bought our Mustang the seller had it up on eBay but it didn't meet his reserve. We worked out a deal off eBay and agreed to meet in Madison, Wisconsin to purchase the car. I brought $10,000 cash with me. We were going to meet at a McDonald's but decided to meet at a rundown gas station on the freeway instead. I wasn't nervous about the transaction until we were on the way home. I thought "Man, this guy could have hired someone to be waiting there and when I went to get the cash from our car the guy could have just bopped me over the head, took the cash and ran!"

I did make him sign the title over and complete all the necessary paperwork before I gave him the cash, though, so I guess I still would have owned the car. The thing is the guy knew I had $10k in cash with me and it could have ended up pretty messy!

  4. Before you start screwing into your speakers and greatly reducing their resale value I'd suggest setting them on top of your front mains first and see how they sound there. Also, is there enough rooom to set them on top of your entertainment center on the outer edges? Hard to tell from the pic.

  5. They're not the biggest speaker Klipsch made but they keep up with some of the big dogs very easily. The rear passive radiator does make placement somewhat tricky. It takes some experimenting getting them situated just right where they blend with the room but once set up properly they are amazing speakers.

They seem to be more forgiving as to what you use for amplification, which is good. They sound good with almost anything used as a receiver/amplifier so you won't have to spend tons of money swapping out amps until you find the perfect match.

If you're patient you can find a pair in nice condition for around $300 which considering what you're getting is pretty much a no-brainer as to whether or not to buy them!

  6. There are literally dozens of things that affect bass output. Can you post a picture of your setup so we can see how far the speakers are from the wall behind it? Where do you sit in the room (right in the middle, more towards the back, etc.)? Do you have any kind of automatic setup that you're using on your receiver? Why don't you want to use your subwoofer when you're listening to 2 channel music?

  7. Only thing you'd have to do is put some kind of material between the TV and 64 so that the TV doesn't scratch the top of the 64.

The center won't be able to be angled upward at all with the TV on it but it'll be sitting a lot higher than it is now so I can't see any drawbacks to doing it.

  8. Wow, I never realized how deep the RC-64 is! I knew it was wide, that thing is a monster!

One thing I would highly suggest is to set your RC-64 on top the TV stand and then set the TV on top of the RC-64. The 64 will easily handle the weight of your TV and raising is up will do wonders to having the speaker closer to same height as your ears.

  9. Anyone on here running rear surrounds in a narrow room? My room is 10 feet wide. Do you feel that it was an upgrade over only having side surrounds? I'm getting a nice bonus from work in August and want to spend a little of my hard-earned cash.

I've been very happy with my KG 3.5s as side surrounds and was thinking of something from the KG line as rear surrounds. Another pair of 3.5s would be great. I'd prefer them to be floorstanding versus smaller bookshelves that I'd have to mount on the wall.

    Any advice would be great!

I'm not using a center speaker so that's why I specified 6.1 instead of 7.1. I'm not interested in a center speaker due to the limitations from my TV stand.

  10. It can be difficult to integrate two subs into a room but when dialed in correctly the results are well worth it.

    I'd go with another Sub-12 and wouldn't recommend pairing a Sub-10 with a Sub-12.
