  1. The only amp I've heard with my Forte II speakers is my harman / kardon HK3480 2 channel amp. Jay on here has an HK3480 hooked up ro RF-83 speakers and really likes it.

$500 retail but I bought one that was only a couple months old for $175 on eBay.

I like it because it has both pre-amp ins and outs and sub-outs. As long as the source material is good, it sounds very smooth and powerful with the Fortes.

    120 watts x 2, high current design.

  2. North side , east side

Little Willy, Willy wears the crown, he's the king around town

    Dancing, glancing

Willy drives them silly with his star shoe shimmy shuffle down

Way past one, and feeling allright

'Cos with little Willy round they can last all night

Hey down, stay down, stay down down

'Cos little Willy, Willy won't go home

But you can't push Willy round

Willy won't go, try tellin' everybody but, oh no

Little Willy, Willy won't go home

    Up town, down town

Little Willy, Willy drives them wild with his run-around style

    Inside, outside

Willy sends them silly with his star-shine shimmy shuffle smile

Mama done chase Willy down through the hall

But laugh, Willy laugh, he don't care at all

Hey down, stay down, stay down, down

'Cos little Willy, Willy won't go home

But you can't push Willy round

Willy won't go, try tellin' everybody but, oh no

  3. Considering you could buy a NEW pair of RS-7's that look better and probably my guess to those in here... SOUND much better than his contraptions... blah blah blah...

Oh well Paul Parrot is right..... hahahahahahahahaha We don't know.. cause we don't know..

    RS-7s?

  4. Its a rare instance that an amplifier is damaged by a speaker hooked up to it. I'd say 99 times out of 100 its the speaker that's going to be damaged. Probably the thing that would most commonly damage a receiver is positive and negative wires touching each other either at the receiver's speaker output terminals or at the speaker's input terminals.

Yes, you are getting too involved. [:)]

Your RB-81 speakers are incredibly efficient compared to most bookhelf speakers. As long as you're feeding them quality watts (of which Yamaha is well-received by many on here) you'll be fine.

If you had a 5 watt or a 5000 watt amp it would be a different story.

  5. Cool, thanks for all the responses! One probably dumb question is, does anyone know if this TV will display 1080i over component cables? My DVR is a HD decoder and I have component cables hooked to my current Mitsubishi HDTV and it displays 1080i very well.

I won't be utilitizing the 1080p function right away at all, so it doesn't really matter to me that it even has it. It is nice to have it for future use, though.

I also did see how some of the older HDxx96 TVs had some problems but it seems that the current HDxx97 series aren't experiencing the same issues.

If I have time tonight I'm going to run across to the Best Buy that's right across the street from where I work and give it another look if they have one. I literally only spent about 30 seconds looking at it last night, and the Best Buy that I was at last night is about an hour away from me so I don't really want to go back to that one if I don't have to.

  6. I went to a Best Buy today in response to their 36 months no interest on any home theater purchase $999 and up. In their ad I saw that they had a Toshiba 56" DLP TV for $1499, except that it was 720p resolution.

On the other side of the display was a JVC tv, also 56" except it was 1080p. Regular price was $2249, its on sale for $1749 plus it comes with a free killer-looking stand valued at $299.

The picture looked really good from what I could tell. I didn't have a lot of time to spend with it since my wife caught up with me and wanted to go to supper. We went back after supper but I only had about 5 minutes to look at it again since they were closing.

    The model is JVC HD56FN97.

Otherwise does anyone have any other suggestions for a sub $2000 TV?

  7. Unfortunately in our current society bigger isn't always better in most people's eyes when it comes to speakers. I'd bet that 9 out of 10 custom home theater installations in new houses being built in the last 5 years utilized in-wall or in-ceiling speakers. Try stuffing a KLF30 in a wall!

The pair in my sig that are my best friend's were purchased by him for $500 a few months ago. They were within an hour's drive so shipping was $0. They are in about as mint condition as you could possibly get a used speaker for.

They really do sound incredible, don't they?

  8. Got an offer of $550. Ummm, no. [:)]

    Mark, I wouldn't take offense @ that.

Brand new ones (cherry, black, and possibly maple) can be had for 1K now being a discontinued model.

I forget the name of the company, but they advertise on ebay and are out of Nevada.

They post at 1299, obo (I wouldnt' offer them a grand if I weren't serious, because that will more than likely buy them including shipping).

Would it make any difference that these speakers are broken in and the new owner wouldn't have to go through all the hassle of doing it themselves? [;)]

Kidding of course, but I think I can still get closer to $1000 for them.
