  1. Thanks everyone. The DeOxit I got is in a small tube that looks like its for more precision applications. I shouldn't have too much runoff to clean up.

So I pretty much want to use it on the knobs such as volume, balance, etc? Take the knobs off and then apply the DeOxit to the 'post' that's sticking out? How far into the receiver do I want to apply it?

Is there anything I need to do under the hood, so to speak? Should I be using the DeOxit on anything inside the receiver?

  2. For the price of a torx driver you might as well get yourself one of those fancy 10-in-1 screwdrivers. If nothing else, it's a great excuse to get a fancy toy I mean tool [;)]

All the ones I've worked with have had the correct sizes - and they also come with square head bits too, which is another common type you'll run across in the audio scene.

Done and done! Went to Sears tonight after work and bought a 20 in 1 Craftsman getup. Got the woofer out...loose wire! Hooked it back up and buttoned her back up. WE'RE ROCKIN IN MINNESOTA NOW BABY!

Thank you everyone for your help! [<:o)]

  3. On Saturday I picked up the RF-7s that I had originally posted that I had found on craigslist. Listened to them at the guy's house. Wow!

I got them home and hooked them up to my HK 730. Listened to the music for a while, then I decided to put my ear by each speaker...something I should have done at the guy's house before I brought them home.

Well turns out the upper woofer on one of the speakers is not working at all. It isn't distorting or buzzing or anything, it simply isn't putting any sound out. I just emailed the guy that I bought the speakers from. I'm not sure if he's going to do anything about it. I know, I know, I feel really stupid. He just cranked them up at his place and they sounded soooo good that I didn't even think of checking each driver to make sure they work.

Is there anything I should check to see if its loose? Am I going to need to buy a replacement woofer? How much do they cost? He said he'd only had them for a year. If they are still under warranty, how do I go about getting it fixed?

Thanks. My elation at getting the speakers has fizzled a bit.

  4. How long does the typical person have their speakers before they are upgrading? Well, in my case, its about 6 months. [<:o)] I bought my RF-25s in June and now am replacing them this weekend.

Not going to say what I'm getting (yet) but I will say this...I won't ever feel the need to upgrade my speakers again! [:#]

  5. People will want to kill me for talking about my Crown so much, but so what.....

I think if you find something that works well with Klipsch, let people know! As we all know, Klipsch are very finicky as to what amplification really makes them sound good.

  6. One Monday morning a mailman is walking the neighborhood on his usual route.

As he approaches one of the homes he noticed that both cars were in the driveway.
His walk was cut short by Bob, the homeowner, coming out with a load of empty beer and liquor bottles.
"Wow Bob, looks like you guys had one hell of a party last night." the mailman comments.

Bob, in obvious pain replies, "Actually we had it Saturday night. This is the first I have felt like moving since 4:00 Sunday morning.
We had about fifteen couples from around the neighborhood over for Christmas Cheer and it got a bit wild.
Hell, we got so drunk around midnight that we played who am I."

The mailman thinks a moment and says, "How do you play that?"

"Well, all the guys go in the bedroom and we come out one at a time with a sheet covering us and only our privates showing through a hole in the sheet. Then the women try to guess who it is."

The mailman laughs and says, "Damn, I'm sorry I missed that."

"Probably a good thing you did," Bob responds.

"Your name came up four or five times."

  7. I agree on your comments. The performances are just different enough from Hell Freezes Over to make it a worthwhile disc to get.

The horn solo at the beginning of Hotel California - turn it up! Something about listening to horns on horns, you know!

My favorite track is Walk Away, second song from the end of disc one. Joe Walsh is an unbelievable guitarist and performer.

I hope to see them if/when there is a Farewell II tour. I haven't seen them perform live yet. YET!

  8. I have an opportunity to pick up a pair of RF-3 II speakers for the same price that I bought my RF-25s for. I don't think I'd have any problems selling my RF-25s for at least what I paid for them.

My question is, is it worth the hassle? I'd be able to drive and get the RF-3 IIs so there wouldn't be any shipping charges I'd have to pay.

The specs seem pretty similar - 97db/1 watt versus 98db/1 watt. Do the 8" woofers make a noticeable impact on the sound?

    Thanks!

  10. My wife and I and some of our friends saw Star Wars Episode II a couple years ago on an iMax screen. INCREDIBLE!

We sat in the farthest row from the screen and in my opinion it was the best seat in the house. The screen was so unbelievably big that you couldn't see the whole screen in your field of vision if you sat any closer.

Killer sound system too, I remember them saying it is somewhere between 12,000 and 15,000 watts.

The weird thing was they cut out about 15 minutes of the movie. I'm not sure why, but about halfway through the movie I realized that certain scenes were shortened up quite a bit from the original theatrical release.
