    RB 75?

I have a pair in my bedroom system and they sound very good. I am not as impressed as some with the low end but I have them on shelves which could have a lot to with that. I am sure they would be much better on proper stands. I did compare them to the RB-35 and found the 75 superior overall mainly due to the better compression driver. Be sure you give them some time to break in and enjoy. You may find at some point wanting a sub depending on your room but they are great by themselves, just don't expect your windows to rattle!
  2. I have 15 of those rubber grill attachment inserts for the Forte' I, Chorus and whatever other speaker they used them in. I will just mail them to any forum member that wants them. I know they are easy to misplace. Mark
  3. Hi Rick, I do have the original box and packaging. I have had no problems with it at all. I was thinking of getting into home theater but have changed my mind. I am going to stick with two channel and just my Forte II's. The sub is just like new, and was NEVER pushed hard. I doubt it's even broke in. I am a long standing Audiogon memeber with lots of positive feedback if you want to check that out. My Audiogon.com name is Jenkster. I have it posted there if you want to see some pictures. Thanks, Mark
  4. I had one of the biggest thrills of my life last night. My buddy, somehow, got tickets to see Paul McCartney at ARCO arena in Sacramento. All I can say is, WOW! He put on an awesome show! I could tell his voice was a little tired but he rocked the house for almost 3 hours and it was the best show I have ever seen! He belted out 'Helter Skelter' like he was still in his 20's! Most of the songs he did were from the Beatle years and Wings. He did do a few songs off his new CD which is actually pretty good. He is going to be in Texas next then Vegas and LA. If you are even a casual fan, beg, borrow or steal some tickets, you won't be disappointed!
  5. Once again, the Doc is right on the money! I have Forte' II's hooked to a Yamaha RX-777 stereo receiver. Keep in mind I do have them in a larger room. This is an excellent combination! The Yammy has an adjustable loudness control that really helps taylor the low end. I have no mid-range harshness at all using an inexpensive 300 disc Sony changer. They key is to find a decent digital to analog converter or DAC. I found an Entec Number Cruncher 2.2 for a very good price and it works great! It's very small in size so you can put it anywhere. You just run an optical cable from the CD into the DAC then RCA's to the receiver. I am having networks built for the Forte's and should get them soon. I will let you know how they sound in comparison. You can generally find a 777 on ebay or audiogon for under $300.
  6. WOW, When I posted this a couple of days ago, I was trying to express my feeling sorrow for the loss of a valued member of this site and the hospitalization of another. That, plus other things more personal, had made last Thursday a "CRAPPY DAY." Always trying to be the optomist, I felt that since Friday was verterans day, it would surely be better. I know it is because of those brave men and women who fought for our county that I am a free man. Words cannot express my gratitude for their bravery and sacrifice! AGAIN, GOD BLESS OUR VETERANS!!!
  7. The other day, my buddy bought a smaller, old, Wurlitzer Organ for $20 at an estate sale. RCA 12AX7's galore and only a few were marginal. Nice Eico Mono amp also, the bum. That Fisher's a great find!
  8. Thanks for the help guys! I think I'm going to pass on it as I it's all ready Nov. 12th which means Cristmas is just around the corner! I don't mean to sound like a Scrooge, but could we have a Christmas leap year???
  9. To Forum members only! Synergy Sub-12, mint!! $325.00 shipped to the lower 48! Thanks, Mark
  10. Thanks D-MAN for being the voice of reason! I believe you hit the nail on the head!
  11. I have to agree with the Doc. Another option would be some RF-3's or 5's. Same footprint as the 75's on stands and you will pay less money, especially for the 3's. I have a pair of RB-75's in my bedroom but they are on a shelf. Not ideal, but good enough to fall asleep to. They do have a better compression driver than the RF-3's and 5's however. If you can make room, find some Forte's or Forte' II's, much better bang for the buck and they sound awesome! Both Chorus' are great also! Good luck with your decision!
  12. Anyone have experience with the Jolida JD 1501 RC hybrid integrated? It's 100 watt SS output with tube pre-amp. I have a chance to pick one up at a good price. Would they be a good match for my Forte II's? Thanks
  13. Hey Michael, You forgot the Hummel figurines! I don't want to modify them any more than I have to. I felt putting the bags in the cabinet was an easy option without modification. That said, I'm waiting for Chris Munson's crossovers before I do anything else. If you want those K53's and that K28E woofer, I will give you a big post birthday discount. Send me a PM if you like. I sent you a couple but don't know if you got them? You can also e-mail me direct at; Lbones295@cs.com Thanks
  14. The bags are about 10"x4"x1". They lay pretty flat. I do have them spiked. If I get ambitious tomorrow I will take them out and compare. I think they sound better now but I know my hearing memory is short.
  15. Is it me or has this just been a crappy day??? Think I'll go fire up the Forte's, put on some Wes Montgomery, pour a glass of cab and call it good! Cheers to all, tomorrow WILL be a better day! God Bless our veterans and troops!!!
  16. If I were to put cinder blocks on the top of them, where would I put the friggin' nick/knacks and candles???
  17. In the back of my brain, I think I read somewhere that adding weight to a speaker can improve the sound. I am not one to jump on the band wagon of every miracle tweak that comes along but, adding weight to speaker stands seems to help with bookshelf speakers so maybe there is something to it? Off to the local gun store where I purchased two 25lb bags of lead shot. They were under $20 a piece. I removed the passives from my Forte II's and carefully layed the bags of shot on the bottom of the speaker. Moving them back into place was a little more difficult! I fired up my SACD recording of Dave Brubeck's "Take 5." Well, I have to tell you, I'm impressed! The bass is tighter and the mid-range seems more focused. At first I thought it was just wishful thinking but when my wife, unsolicited, asked if I changed something because the bass seemed more pronounced, that was good enough for me! With everything I have added to my system over the years, this is the first time she has ever commented about the sound. She mainly just wants the speakers to match the furniture. So, for what it's worth, it's an inexpensive tweak that worked for me.
  18. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. The light of the forum just got a little dimmer.
  19. The Duke is right on target, as usual. My buddy had an old SUNN tube board that he insisted on using. Worked OK for miking guitar amps, terrible feedback with vocals! We were even using Shure beta 58's and they still fedback with little volume. We now use a Mackie passive with JBL EON powered house mains. If nothing else, the difference in weight is worth it. That friggin' SUNN was HEAVY!
  20. http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1136844291 Looks like a nice single Belle. That can't be the stock crossover?
  21. I can't answer your questions but I guess the important thing is they sound and work well for you. I do believe Dean's networks will make a big improvement.
  22. Sorry, wrong Michael, I sent the e-mail to colterphoto1. Thanks for the response though! Mark
  23. http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/HUG/messages/48564.html I came accross this article by accident. Very interesting reading about the CF-4.
  24. I still have my Synergy sub-12 for sale. I just posted it on Audiogon today. Thanks, Mark
  25. Hey Michael, I sent you an e-mail. Let me know if you didn't receive it. Mark
