  1. I have three K-400 horns, a pair of AL networks, and a pair of AA networks if anyone is interested. Thanks and Merry Christmas.
  2. I have a pair of K400s and a pair of AL Crossovers after a recent upgrade. Let me know if you are interested.
  3. Hi Jon, I am putting together an all heritage HT as well with 3 LS and 3 Heresys. The prices you have listed are a little on the low side, imo. If you are patient you may be able to find some. I have a pair of La Scalas that I listed on the forum that nobody has bought. I love my La Scala Center, so I wouldn't mind splitting up the pair for forum members to use as singles. If nobody wants them here, I am going to dress them up with grills and sell on eBay. I could sell a single LS for $400 if you are interested. It has an AL crossover, but I have a pair of AAs as well. I can give you a AA for $25 which is what I Bob Crites will credit me for the crossover towards one of his new AA replacements. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks.
  4. Where can you find adapters for a K-55 to a 511B? Thanks.
  5. Terry, What is that speaker the 511B is on top of? I am thinking of doing a similar project.
  6. It sounds like we will have similar setups once I am done modding my 3 LS. I am definitely going to try the 511B before I alter the cabinets. If I find the same improvements that others on the forum have, I will make custom top sections for the mid/tweeter section. I work in the furniture industry and have access to some skilled woodworkers. I can't decide whether to mount the tweeter on top of the mid horn as in the current LS setup or to mount the tweeter vertically in a slightly wider top section. I am leaning towards the latter due the height of the center speaker. Also, what is a split La Scala?
  7. Shawn, Thanks for the info. I think that I will try the 511Bs on top first to make sure that I like them. I will also be using Dean's AA networks. I may try an ES crossover down the road. I have another pair of La Scalas that I am not going to alter that I can use either crossover with.
  8. Thanks for the info Shawn. Nice instructions. I think I am ready to start cutting. I think I am going to try them as 3-ways first mounting the K-77 on top of the cabinet and may try to pick up a pair of drivers to run as two-ways. Any other drivers that you would recommend? How did they turn out in your theatre? Thanks for the great info.
  9. Who has done this modification. I am considering either installing in the existing cabinets or doing some serious cutting and making custom top bins for the 511B and K-77. Also, has anyone tried running the LS/511Bs as a two-way? I don't think this would be a great combo with the K-55 due to its high frequency limitations, but may work with an altec or jbl driver. Also, would you mount the tweeter vertically if keeping as a 3-way? If anyone has any pics or info on this project, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
  10. Thanks for the info guys. The seller has a bunch of vintage stuff for sale including NAD, B&K, Crown, and a few others. I am going to go check them out tomorrow.
  11. Someone is selling a Crown DC-300 Amplifier and IC-150 Preamplifier locally. I have never heard any Crown equipment but have heard very good things. Is anyone familiar with either of these pieces? Any idea of what they would worth in good condition? Thanks.
  12. John, The black LS has a K-55-V and a K-77 and AA crossover. I think it is '74 vintage. The stained birch LS has a K-55-M and a K-77 and an AL crossover. I I also have a AA that I could add instead of the AL. I will email a few pics and serial numbers when I get some time this weekend. Thanks.
  13. Duplicate post from earlier in wrong forum: Hey guys, I have decided to make a few changes to my La Scala mains/center. Due to the changes, I have two La Scalas to sell - but they do not have matching finishes. It took me a lot of work to find my LS center channel so I figure I will see if anyone is looking for one on the forum. I will probably list them on Audiogon and then eBay in a month or so when my wife makes me get them out of the garage. I have two available: one gloss black and one dark stained birch. The gloss black LS was the speaker that I intended to use in my HT. I can't even tell you the number of hours I have in this speaker. Well, I could but it is embarrassing. I have a friend in the furniture business and he helped me paint it in the paint booth at his workplace after stripping and sanding and sanding and sanding. It turned out very, very nice. Not perfect (it is wood) but very nice. I have decided to update the crossovers and change the squawker to an Altec 511B in my three front speakers. Changing the squawker will require cutting and I do not want to ruin the finish on this speaker. I would rather have someone use it and re-finish another as opposed to ruining the many hours I have in it. It has a AA crossover. I also have a Bob Crites unused A/AA crossover that I will sell with it as well. The dark stained birch cabinet is in pretty good shape overall. I will not be able to get any pictures for a week when I get a few things moved arount in the garage. Let me know if anyone is interested in either speaker. Thanks.

  15. Looking for some sort of trade for a pair of cornwalls. I have a couple pair of La Scala AA both in fair/good cosmetic condition. Shoot me a message if interested.
  16. Ask and you shall receive. Thanks for the informative and thoughtful reply DrWho.
  17. I am looking for a device to change amps to the same set of front speakers. I remember someone mentioning something from Niles. Does anyone have the name or part number for a unit like this? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  18. I am currently assembling a Heritage HT and 2 channel system and have everything with the exception of digital source for the 2 channel system. I have heard wonderful things about the Ah! and Jolida tube CD players and have been considering both of these although I have not heard them yet. I am currently using a McIntosh MC240, Tube Audio Design TAD-150 Sig, and the DVD player from my HT (Sony DVP-S9000ES) for a CD player. Looking at the option of using the Sony as a transport and a tube DAC versus a tube CD Player. I am leaning towards a new player due to the fact that the Sony won't read CDRs but I want to audition a few pieces. Any suggestions on what to audition as CD players or DACs? I would look at used gear because i would like to keep it under $800. Thanks in advance.
  19. There is an awesome deal on Audiogon. I have a friend who purchased a TAD-150 signature for under $800 and is very happy. The unit is a very nice looking piece as well. Anyone have any experience with Tube Audio Design or any of Paul's products? Thanks-Dirk
  20. Has anyone heard the Tube Audio design Amps and Preamps. I have read nice reviews but never heard any. The 150 Preamp is on sale due to a dented box for 599 from 1299 and still carries the 3 year warranty.
  21. I agree 90% of RPlace recommendations. I would buy the screen material and make your own for under a hundred bucks to leave more monet for electronics or add a video scaler to get igh end video out of a mid-priced projector for pennies on the dollar. The Panasonic 700 is an amazing projector for the money. Combine it with the DVDO i-scan HD scaler for a street price of $750 and you have an amazing video combination. Go with heritage speakers (khorn, la scala, heresy, cornwall, etc.) They are the best speakers Klipsch ever made, most are plywood rather than MDF, and they hold their value better than any speaker on the planet. Combine with a good Processor and Amplification (Sunfire, NAD, Integra, Rotel, Denon, Sony ES, McIntosh) and you are all set. My $0.02 Good luck..
  22. It is obviously in the sound guys and i appreciate the feedback. All other things being equal, I look for resale value because i tend to try alot of different rigs, especially amplifiers. I would not put the time and effort into my favorite hobby for investment purposes but that does play into the selection process. I see after reading my previous post how it could be misleading. I agree, the sound is what its all about,
  23. Every dollar that I spend I am thinking about ROI. That is why I have heritage and Mac gear now (in addition to the wonderful sound that comes out of them). That is certainly a consideration. I do not intend on using a phono section ever. In this case, what would you suggest? Continue to use a passive?
  24. Like I said Gary, I think I over reacted a bit. No worries either way. For the record, I am 100% in the right. [] I can be a bit of a hothead, though. [:@] Time to move on and buy a new preamp instead. Gary, I hear you have a good ear. Please see my recent poll in 2 channel forum. thanks guys.
