  1. Pete, Are we showing off your beautiful cars or the speakers? [] Barry
  2. Yes gentleman ( and ladies if appropriate), some very impressive rooms and set-ups! Scott, I know the Marantz system must sound wonderful and happy to hear them being paird with the Shorthorns! Glad they are actually being used. Barry
  3. Scott, The Quad's are a very different type of sound. VERY airy with clean, open sound but with surprising bass. They are not a slamming rock speaker but voice, jazz, instrumentals and most orchestral music melts in your ears! The music seems to come at you from all directions when placed properly and I guess a better description would be "enveloping". They of course sound best if you have dedicated sweet spot and do take some height/leg adjustment but feel they are perfect for most applications and perfect if you have neighbors on attached walls. You also want to use a limited power supply or you can easily fry them. The McIntosh MC-225 seems to be an excellent match and I wish I would have hooked the QUAD 2 amps I had to them to see how they would have sounded. Sold them off a couple of years agao and had the 57's in storage. Finally decided to break them out and was quite pleased. How did you like the Model 9's you picked up? Never had them so I was curious. Hoping all is well. Barry
  4. This is my temporary system. The Khorns are at the main house as they were too difficult to move on a temporary basis..
  5. Here is another link to the show which contains some good pics of the Speakers and a nice showing of McIntosh equipment. Besides the TT, MxcIntosh has introduced a new tube preamp, the C-2300 ($6K) as well as the two piece C-500 ($11K). Large pics so high speed connection will be helpful. http://www.audiofederation.com/hifiing/2007/CEDIA2007/day1/index.htm Barry
  6. Thanks for the info Amy and will check your blog shortly. There has been much discussion (most negative to the McIntosh TT) but I heard that dealers were placing orders! At a 7K price point, I believe there are many competitors that can meet or exceed it although it may sound wonderful! The looks just don't work and what is the meter actually showing? Just my .02
  7. Can't find the dimensions but here is a link to the Press Release that came out in August. They list at 15 K a pair. http://www.klipsch.com/news-center/press-releases/details/klipsch-palladium-floorstander-a-symbol-of-supreme-luxury.aspx
  8. Not sure if you folks have seen this yet but thought I would share the link. Speakers look beautiful and would love to hear them. Not sure about the TT as it looks too much like a tuner/amp/preamp but it will match other new style components http://blog.stereophile.com/cedia2007/ Barry
  9. Jay, I have not and using it just as it came set from the factory.
  10. Jay, No problems here either with anti-skate. Barry
  11. Jay, Welcome to the club and I am quite sure you will be pleased. I am curious however as the center clamp. Mine looks much different than yours and was wondering if that is one you already had or if it cam that way. Mine is very noce so no complaints but just curious. Congrats and enjoy! Barry
  12. Tomorrow evening, I am meeting with a group from North Carolina and we are going to compare the two. I just sold the La Scala's (to a new forum member) and am dropping them off in NC for pick-up at a later date. I am bringing a MC-275 and C-220 with me. I am not sure what sources we are using as far as CD, TT, etc. but at least we can get other opinions on this debate. My thought is they are both excellent and it really depends on your listening preferences. Will check back in after the comparison and post the thoughts of this small group.
  13. Pete, My thoughts too! No one could be stupid enough to SIX nails into someones head by "accident"!
  14. Our listening is a ritual brought on by many fond memories of how it was. Now we can afford to play with better equipment (not necessarily new) that we could not afford in our youth. What does the ipod generation aspire to? How many songs they can download so they can be self absorbed for who knows how long? Glad to see the manufacturers going back to what most of us here already know. Mass marketing is a necessity in ordr to stay in business but they also realize there are enough folks like us who are out there and willing to buy more than convenience.
  15. http://tinyurl.com/2coowc No affiliation etc., but not many show up on ebay.
