  1. Here is a picture of one of the 11 small magnets which hold the grill on Cornwall IIIs.
  2. I am retitling this post by substituting "Lacquer" for "Veneer" because I do not see any signs of an applied veneer. I thought Klipsch would be applying a thin veneer of Cherry for speaker with a "Cherry Lacquer". It looks like Klipsch just applied a Cherry stain.
  3. I (very carefully) used a small allen wrench. Looks like the grills are now held in place by 11 small magnets.
  4. Good question. Where did you get them? Mail Order? Or that ridiculous Car Stereo store in Columbus that is the only Heritage dealer in all of Ohio? They look great by the way, congratulations. I purchased them from Carlin Audio in Dayton. They are an authorized Klipsch dealer. Contact info: 2360 West Dorothy Lane (937) 294 - 4423
  5. Bottom of woofer is roughly 11.5 inches from floor (carpeted so this is rough estimate) and 5.75 inches from top of port.
  6. I purchased TOSLink digital audio cables for the Denon 2910 and the DirecTV. Now I am finally getting 4.1 sound with SACD and DVD Audio disks. Unfortunately during the assembly of this new system, the movement of the satellite RG6 cable was sufficient to break both the RG6 ribbon cables (6 inches) I was using to route the DirecTV signal from the dish outdoors to the DVR receiver. Lowes, Radio Shack and Best Buy no longer carry the RG6 ribbon cables. Looks like repairing the satellite lines might require a Google search and a special order from some website.
  7. The grill does not come off easily. I tried to use a small flat head screwdriver but they would not release from the velcro (?) fastenings with simple side to side movement and there was not much clearance to pry them off without making contact with wood cabinet with the risk of leaving an indentation. I am thinking something like a very small allen wrench might be able to slide between grill and the speaker cabinet, then after 90 degree twist it may be possible to pull the grill straight out.
  8. Update on reassembling my system with problems encountered. Problems: Apparently I need TOSLink cables to get 5.1 sound from Denon 2910. I was disappointed to find that although I had connected 5.1 analog audio cables and a S-Video cable between the DVD player and the Anthem AVM-30 I was still getting only stereo sound. I will have to postpone the experience of listening to my new SACD and DVD-Audio discs in true 5.1 sound (actually ~4.1 since I still do not have a center speaker) [] Now for some pictures. First the left channel and audio rack:
  9. I would like to respond to the many requests for photos with the grill off but I would like to know what is the best tool to use to remove the gills without the risk of damaging the face of the cabinet by prying the grills off. If someone could let me know what is the best tool to use, I would post pictures without the grill and provide you with the measurements.
  10. They sound great! The first time I turned my updated system on I was overwhelmed by the sound. No longer did I hear sound radiating from two distinct corners of the room but my ears and body heard and felt a "wall" of sound that smashed through the east wall of the room!
  11. Thirty minutes after I read your post requesting pictures, I had pulled one Cornwall III out of its box and took several pictures. Then I found I had not installed the digital camera software on my laptop. Forty five minutes later I had two photos ready to post but found the forum was down and would not accept photos or new postings. I have never posted photos on this forum before so I send my apologies in advance if they do not automatically resize in your browser. Pictures may not be the best given the lighting I was working with.
  12. Thanks for the recommendations DrWho. The vertical Cornwalls do look like the best match for a center. I only hope I have better luck finding a single vertcal Cornwall on Ebay or Audiogon within a 4 hour drive, in good shape and for a reasonable price than I did finding a used pair of Cornwalls or Klipschorns. What would be a reasonable price for vertical Cornwalls?
  13. Finally got my new Cornwall IIIs. Carrying them upstairs was an unexpected chore. I thought each speaker was supposed to weigh approximately 90 pounds. I must be getting too old because they felt like they weighted closer to 120 pounds each. I wonder if I have the first serial numbers for March 2006 because the consecutive serial numbers are 06130001 and 06130002. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I plan on disassembling my existing stereo system and assembling the new stereo system this weekend. I had several new stereo components and a Lovan Matrix 5 shelf audio rack sitting unpacked in closets for months waiting for the arrival of my Cornwalls before I began the task of assembling and rearranging my home stereo system. I will finally get the opportunity to unpack and listen to my new Anthem P2 power amp, and my new Denon 2910 DVD/CD player through Cornwalls! I even built a small library of 33 SACDs and DVD audios for the day I finally received my Cornwalls. Now I need to find a center channel speaker that would be a good match for Cornwall IIIs. Will the RC-64 be good center for Cornwall IIIs?
  14. I do not have to wait for Apple to release a new version of IPOD with OSD or for Klipsch to release a new IFI docking station. In March DLO will be shipping a docking station that not only plays your MP3s though your home stereo but also provides on screen display of the IPOD's music navigation system on your television via a wireless remote. You will also be able to run a slide show of any photos stored on your IPOD via SVideo cable on your television http://www.dlo.com/products/homedoc_dx_Prod.tpl?command=showpage&cart=1136898669418849 A 60GB IPOD is now on the top of my list for MP3 server, replacing a $2000 Yamaha Multicast Server.
  15. I pulled these veneer website links from bookmarks I keep on luthier websites. http://www.exoticwoods.com/ http://www.galleryhardwoods.com/ http://www.gemwood.com/index.htm http://colonialtonewoods.com/ http://www.figuredhardwoods.com/ http://nwtimber.com/ http://www.vikwood.com/ http://www.alaskaspecialtywoods.com/ http://www.madinter.com/ http://www.winklerwoods.com/index.html http://www.amwoodinc.com/ http://www.acousticwoods.ca/
  16. My son has a 19" Sony Triniton in his bedroom that I bought in 1982. Picture still looks the same as when it was new. Amazing that it still is functioning pefectly since there have been many nights he has left it turned on all night.
  17. Thanks Timmikid. I look forward to no longer being Klipschless in Ohio. The dealer charged me $3500 which I believe is the MSRP. Because of the 6-8 week delay he was willing to place the order with a downpayment instead of the full price I paid on previous special orders.
  18. Placed my order for Cornwall IIIs today at 12:45. My first pair of Klipsch speakers! [] Unfortunately the Klipsch rep has told my local Klipsch dealer to expect "6 to 8 weeks of lead time." Apparently speakers are made as orders are received, Klipsch does not maintain an inventory of Heritage speakers.[]
  19. I just checked the Klipsch web page listing Heritage speakers and I see Cornwall IIIs are listed now. I will be ordering my Cornwall IIIs tomorrow. Finally!
  20. Thanks Daddy Dee. After waiting so long, and multiple failed attempts to win EBay auctions for either Cornwalls or Klipschorns receiving a PO confirmation from Klipsch might be enough to make me feel as if I have "slipped the surly bonds of earth". I would place an order tomorrow if Amy confirms the new Cornwall IIIs are truly shipping.
  21. Amy I received a phone call from my local Klipsch dealer at 10:47 today. He says that he was told that Cornwall IIIs are "actively shipping now" by his Klipsch rep, Mark Hittle. Please confirm that Klipsch is officially taking orders.[:^)]
  22. With CES 2006 over I'm counting down the remaining days in January for the Cornwall III release and the posting of the new product page. I hope the emphasis Klipsch placed on promoting the new reference speaker line at CES has not pushed the release of the Cornwall III past February. A February Cornwall III release would increase the attractiveness of this used pair of Klipschorns http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5853064547&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1
