  1. Sounds like it could be the James Gang. Still can't place the tune.
  2. Rick, he already did. Got them $150. Can you believe it?
  3. I hear a freight train coming, folks. Gonna be alot of KHorn bashing and a big counter-ruckus. Could Mr. Brennan be getting "even" for the infamous Ratings thread I started a while back? Meagain, I'd at least have given Altecs a listen before committing to those ear-bleeders. []
  4. "I'm Winning" by Santana - nice tune Next: "Ive been down since I began to crawl. If it wasnt for bad luck, I wouldnt have no luck at all."
  5. BTW, you have the photo showing all the access. You can see that it is an easy fix. But, even with the missing chunk, the speaker might be fully operational. How much are they asking for these? We'd be happy to give advice. Also, upload full pics for cosmetic assessment.
  6. I see serious hunting. I'll take all my comments about baiting back (with a right to reserve). LOL. It looks like a missing chunk to me. If it's something being eyed for purchase, I'd use it as a dickering point for sure. Then, I'd get the replacement part. Can't be that expensive. Ask the folks in Klipsch. They sell parts. You ought to get a better discount than just the part cost due to the hassle of having to mess with it.
  7. I'd crate them. With crates, I think movers would be less prone to tossing them around. Freight movers would probably use fork lifts with pallets.
  8. Michael, if you get the chance to try any tubes through your Corns that have the punch of our Crown 1200's, let me know. My guess is you'd be a more likely first candidate to hear them than me. BTW, you never did tell me if you've run your Crown 1200 through Corns. Have you?
  9. I remain skeptical. LOL. I've never heard a woman talk about Klipsch, loud, boom, in your face, Yes, tears, etc. Women have admitted the speakers were good, but that's about as far as they have seemed to care. LOL. But if DrWho or Pete get to meet you, my faith will be restored. BTW guys, anybody ever heard a woman talk about how much she liked Yes? Not. It's definitely guy stuff. And especially Roundabout - like she's heard that fantastic over and over, and it's tops on her list. LOL.[]
  10. Yeah. I noticed the qualities began running the gammut. Round and round. A couple of jabs to get people going. Now, we are asked to admit we cry to our favorite speakers in order to "sell" how good they are. LOL []
  11. Packing's easy with a couple of pallets, some additional cheap 1 x 4's and some nails.
  12. Not "Roundabout," eh? I'd say the more "full-bodied" Yes-test would be "Perpetual Change." You get a little of it all there. Slam, sweet, low, mid, high.
  13. Oh! Considering KHorns now, are we? Here's what you can do. When in Vegas, drive to the KHorns. Make the deal. Go to Home Depot and get lumber and packing material. Crate them yourself so you know you did good. Then, ground ship them back to home.
  14. Guys, I almost feel were being baited by a veteran going underground anonomously. [] I'm a big Yes fan. Their best album is "Album." Starship Trooper, Yours is No Disgrace, The Clap - the whole album is great - even those songs nobody knows. Corns will deliver all the things you say you want. Khorns will do it, too. Just get the Corns. Very inexpensive way to find out I was right all along. Now, tell me. Who are you, really?
  15. Re: my comments on importance of the amp. Any of you remember this integrated amp/pre-amp by Marantz? http://classic-audio.com/marantz/1180dc.html Even at today's standards, this Marantz was a rocker at $550 many years ago for just the amp/pre-amp. This is the amp I had. 90 clean watts/channel. I could literally turn it up all the way and run it continuously with my Corns - which was something I could not remotely do when I had Pioneer HPM 100's before the Corns. Sure, the Corns were good through it, but this great amp was still not enough to make the Corns shine. That's why I went Crown. But I really am curious. Anybody remember the Marantz 1180DC?
  16. Too bad you're getting all this technically insignificant input. All it will do is drive you crazy with increasing indecision. Your choice: Listen to them as was offered by Who and Pete, or buy blindly on some of the advice here. That you stated your inclination of Cornwall II's over Corn I's shows you are getting into this too deeply, with too much minutia. At this point, nobody's additonal comments can help you. You've gotten a flavor and maybe narrowed down the range some. You need to be on your own for the rest. But I still maintain, KHorns aside, if you are looking for speakers that are loud as hell, have bass with a punch and are nice 'n clear, you're going to go with the Corns if you hear them auditioned through an amp worth enough to drive them toward their limits. Tip: You will not get that result with Harmon Kardon receivers. I am not knowledgeble in all the amp brands out there, but there was a tremendous difference between my old Marantz amp/pre-amp (which was supposed to be a very good amp) and my Crown Microtech. When I bought my Khorns recently, the guy had all kinds of stereo stuff sitting around. He wanted to audition them to me through a Marantz receiver. We did. I knew they sounded bad. He didn't. He had some other amp sitting around, which I could just tell was good (I think a Definitive). I made him hook it up. He admitted he never heard the KHorns sound that good before. The guy is a buy cheap-and-resell hi-fi guy. So, I taught him what the speakers could do.
  17. Okay, there's a way to show what they're doing to make it less of a "trick" and more common sense. Dr. Who?
  18. "Great googlymoogly!" Frank Zappa's "Yellow Snow" Here's a rocker! Next: "I got more than I asked for, there ain't nothin' I need. I took all till I had more, I'm always takin' the lead. Old man shakin' dice down on the street, try'n to make a livin' somehow but I'm really sure about gettin' things sorted out and I'm gettin' ready right now. You can't hold me, I have told you."
  19. "Night Moves" by Segar Next: "Oh mamma I've been years on the lamb And had a high price on my head Lawman said get him dead or alive Now it's for sure he'll see me dead"
  20. I had no idea other bands did this. Who wrote it? I was referring to BOC. The hint is because "The Reaper" is on the album, "Agents of Fortune."
  21. "In the Light" by LZ I didn't catch the joke until now. LOL! Ray? Okay, Zep-a'thon over! Next: "Feeling easy on the outside But not so funny on the inside Feel the sound, pray for rain For this is the night we ride" 15 minutes passed, and no answer! OOOOOOh, a stumper! But this one is off a cool album by a cool band. Everyone knows the band, but they don't know the album, which is funny - seeing as the reason they know the band is almost always for a song that was on this album. What a hint!
  22. "R n R" by LZ Next: "From the window of your rented limousine, i saw your pretty blue eye One day soon you're gonna reach sixteen, painted lady in the city of lies."
  23. "Kashmir" by LZ Edit: Notice how it comes down to shorthand lately? [] Next: "Oh, when I feel you near me little girl I know you are my one desire." On your mark, get set, go!
