  1. Afaiik, that's just how the IFI's are. There's no way around it other than to leave the on all the time connected to a different outlet.
  2. I bought them for $269 at circuitcity last october. Can't believe they're actually lower than that now. [:S]
  3. I went ahead and told the guy to get the rw-10. $450 new doesn'tsound bad to me at all seeing as it has a 5 year warranty. On ebay they'll go for ~$400 shipped with no warranty at all. Sub-12... best bang for buck? What's the difference between the sub-12 and the rw-12?
  4. I haven't recieved them yet. The dealer is ordering them from Klipsch and will be available for pick up next week. I'm looking at the invoice here and it says RW-10d black. The guy even said it was an RW-10d. Hehe. I wouldn't mind an RW-10 though. But if given a second choice, should I just go for the RW-10? Maybe push for more of a discount for the inconvenience? [] Or should I choose another sub?
  5. No, I think he wants an SWS capable sub to add to his existing promedia setup. The don't make sws specific subs anymore. Not that I know of. The closest you'll get to an SWS sub is buying a used standalone promedia 5.1 ultra subwoofer or used GMX system subwoofer. With the Ultra sub you'll need the control pod too.The GMX-A 2.1 sub has a power switch in the back so you won't need the pod for that one. After you get one of those, you can hook up the SWS output of one sub to the SWS port of the second sub. Then they'll be linked and you'll get more bass ooomphhh. So if that's what you're looking for, ebay is your friend. Of course I have my own promedia 5.1 ultra set I'm willing to sell as well. ::wink wink:: []
  6. Well I went ahead and got an RW-10d from my dealer for $450 (discounted from $499?). I'm gonna use it more for music than anything else. My room is 12 x 18 feet approximately. Not too big a room. I'm not a bass head either, so when I listen to music my walls don't quite start to shake noticeably. edit: are the 10d's even out yet? the dealer guy said it was a rw-10d and the invoice says 10d. I guess I'll find out when I pick them up next week? [:S]
  7. So what subwoofers would match well with two RSX-5's? They don't have to be Klipsch brand subwoofers and my budget is around $500 new or used/ebay. I have the RSX's hooked up to a rotel amp and was using my promedia 5.1 ultra sub until now. I know klipsch lists the RW-10 as a 'matching' subwoofer, but I wanted to know what else would work well/pair up nicely with the RSX's. Just for the record, I'm more into the quality of the bass and not so much the quantity (unless the quantity is truly lacking at the low low frequencies).
  8. Perhaps a newer model is coming out? Perhaps they were too expensive to begin with? Or maybe since the IFI's don't officially support the newer ipods, the price had to be reduced to move them off the shelves?
  9. It'll work just fine, but the ipod won't fit snugly in the dock as the new 5g dock adapter hasn't been released (not that I know of). So the ipod might wobble around a bit but it will work. Klipsch doesn't recommend using the new ipods until the new adapters are out since the ipod's might wobble too much and break the connector and/or ipod. But if you're careful, they'll work just fine.
  10. Yup. You can use either the port on the back of the sub or the one on the control pod (this one overrides ipod input). The IFI's will act just as normal stereo computer speakers. You'll just have to buy the cable to hook up the computer's sound card output to the IFI. That's it.
  11. So my ideal subwoofer is the rw-10. Would the rsw-10 be overkill? And what's the difference between the them (other than price)?
  12. The thing is I already happen to have an IFI and promedia 5.1 ultra sub.
  13. I've got two rsx5's powered by a rotel amp. Is there anything wrong with running a splitter from the output of my cd player and hooking up the IFI subwoofer for a combined 2.1 system? Will it sound 'right'? Or is the subwoofer only designed to be used with the IFI satellites? Thanks.
  14. I know the IFI sub filters out the lower frequencies sent to the satellites. Does it really make that much of a difference? I mean it sounds fine to my ears, but does it hold back the RSX-5's a lot if at all?
  15. Aye. I wasn't sure if the IFI rsx-3's shared exactly the same specifications as the reference ones. They are unique to the IFI (the crossover at least). I didn't want to guess. Thanks.
  16. Doesn't bose have some rule where any store that stocks their products must place them away from other similar products so they can't make direct comparisons with each other? Just another marketing trick I guess.
  17. ahh. I figured that was the difference. I wasn't sure though since I have no experience with these kind of things. What other brands are worth considering?
  18. What's the difference between the rotel rb971 and ra971?
  19. http://cgi.ebay.com/ROTEL-RA-971-AMPLIFIER_W0QQitemZ5834572259QQcategoryZ3280QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem this one?
  20. http://cgi.ebay.com/ROTEL-power-amp-rb971-NR_W0QQitemZ5836561003QQcategoryZ39783QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem something like that? just hook it up to my cd player/computer (with the right cables) and i'm all set?
  21. ~$200 would be practical. I'm not looking for something overkill. Just something that'll match the speakers nicely and hopefully later a subwoofer. It should be something I can buy rather easily. If it's rare/hard to find, I probably won't have time to search it out.
  22. I'm looking for an integrated amp or reciever for a 2 channel setup that's small (at least relative to some of the bigger options out there) and gets along nicely with 2 klipsch rsx-5's (sub might be added later). It should be readily available and doesn't have to be the best of the best. Just something practical and decent to be used with my computer/cd player. I figure one day I'll eventually move these speakers off the promedia 5.1 ultra amp and to a dedicated reciever/amp. Might as well start looking now. Any suggestions?
