+ on the Chorus, my favorite above even the Cornwall. I don't normally do this because I don't want to sound like I am hyping my tweeters but I have a Chorus I in my shop right now with re-capped crossovers and the DE120 on the tweeter lens and it is a remarkable sound. While I am selling these off after they proved the concept  I have a set of parts here to build a pair of Chorus I's which I intend to do with 1" Baltic Birch and those will not be for sale. I like front ported speakers because I do not want to have to be tied to a corner to make things work right. I want to be able to put them where ever I wish and know what the results will be.

Agreed especially with pro gear which is to me the hands down best. Of course you can get speakers to big for the room. When I first had a set of KPT456's I had them hooked up before my MCM 1900's. My shop was a little crowded at the time and I did not have much separation between the boxes and was a bit disappointed. One day I cleaned out the wall on the opposite side of that section of the shop and spread them out and MAN what a difference a few feet made. Went back and did that with the MCM's which were nice but not what I expected and they became extraordinary.

If I was limited in space I would probably have the Chorus I mentioned above. I have sold more of these to people with terminal illnesses who want the joy music can bring than any other Klipsch speaker. I agree with them and I think they are the most musical and placement neutral of the older vintage speakers. Heresy's are good speakers but I miss to many low notes in music I know are there to be happy with them.

1 inch Baltic Birch! Awesome! Fortunately I have been able to make space to optimize placement.

I heard the MCMs in 1977 I think. The band I was doing sound for was just a three piece acoustic group. Band bought Heresy Industrial. Traveled easier than MCM. Lol Memories fade from 40 years ago but not the 1812 Overture demo on the MCMs.

I have not heard Heresy III. I do have a set of Heresy I's that I really like. That being said I also have some Chorus II and they spank the Heresy I in all departments IMO.

    No contest.

That is why you rarely see Chorus IIs for sale. I bought mine 4 years before the Belles. They are in storage for my future man cave. Belles in the Living Room.

Great bass and mid horn at ear level in my seating positions in the past. Very poor quality crossover components that can easily be remedied.

    Go White!

Mark D should have started Rocky against Michigan. Lewerke shoulder was a bad decision. Watched the M game from my hotel in Tokyo live. 13 hour difference was tiring. Good to be back at the farm!

Noon EST tomorrow will likely be one of the most important, and hopefully, most exciting games of the year for Michigan and Michigan State.  As usual, most people think the UM/OSU game is the big one, but I have to disagree.  Win or lose, this game will shape the rest of the season for the Wolverines and Coach Harbaugh.

    Go Blue!

Watching the game streaming at 4:15 AM Sunday Tokyo time. Green injuries abound but both defenses are playing well. Being green for 45 years I relish in little Jimmy getting beat!

Edit; Just because I don't trust or care for the way he went about starting his business here or running it later, and things he claimed and said here it's best if I edited what I first posted.

    Sorry

I met Greg. A serious woodworker and opportunist . I would not buy a used car from him.

Hey again. I’ve truly tried to enjoy my experience with the Belles. It’s not happening for me, and it’s not like I’m a newby to all (or any) things audio. Dynamics are amazing. But that mysterious “it” factor is being elusive. I find them thin, with vague imaging, and a harsh top end. I’ve moved them as much as is practical in my place. I’ve spoken with Bob Crites about upgrades, etc. I’ve looked into subs. (Inhale/exhale.) I’m ready to let them go. I’m too tied up in other things to take on another project. Pass the word around - they’re available.

You only gave them a week? Did you post a picture of the new configuration? I would have part of left Belle covering the brick and toed in. Have other speaker covering the structure to the right and toed in.

You seem to be taking lightly the results of capacitor changes.

I will have to look into that Omar, thanks!

Well, the noisy part of the puzzle is now covered!

Just picked some mahogany RB-5’s for $100. They are missing the grills and the copper cones have a few small dents, which isn’t a good combo. Now I need to either locate some RB-5 speaker grills or a couple replacement woofers.

Now I am seriously considering ordering the TA-100 but like I previously mentioned, I am going to have to make sure there aren’t any firmware issues, before I am comfortable plunking down $400.

Any other amplifier/source suggestions would be appreciated! I saw AudioEngine makes a computer amp. I am mainly wanting to stream from my laptop so integrated Bluetooth would be a big plus.

I paid retail for mine the first month they came out. Still have them for a mini road system. Lead filled spiked stands!

Your not going to get much of an image with them only like six feet apart and pushed against the wall.  Spread them out and toe them in towards the listening area.

Do I really need new crossovers? Or drivers? Or horns? I love “all original”, and these are all original. 1982. AA crossovers.

    .....................................

Yes you need new crossover components. I listened to my belles for 1.5 years and then changed the crossovers 10 years ago. Serious improvement! Agree with FRZ comment about spacing and toeing in.

    ROON is fricken expensive!

You also get a lot more than you do with other players.  Better be willing to pay the cost before you try it :)

It can be used on wired or wireless but I would keep the server on wired.

You can play directly from your ROON server but it is better to have it on a network and use a ROON compatible device.  The device can be wireless or wired.  Some act as DAC or act as your conversion to USB (ROON Bridge) to connect to your USB DAC.   The ALLO Sparky is an awesome example of a ROON device that connects to your network and to your USB DAC (replacing your PC that is currently connect to the DAC).  Don't let the price fool you!  It is way better than your PC or Apple!  You still have to have a PC (or compatible NAS ) to run the ROON Server software.  Something for me to get used to is that I have to use my iphone or ipad as a controller of ROON.   The iPhone app is limited due to screen space, for example, there is no way to make changes to DSP settings on the iPhone.  I have to use the iPad for that.  There is no PC application for controlling unless you use the PC for everything (not the best way)... you use Apple ios or Android for control.

Whatever you use for a audio PC now could be used as your ROON server (I prefer a computer dedicated to this use) and you could buy the ALLO sparky to connect your USB DAC.   I assuming you already have a home network.  Except for the cost of ROON that is a really inexpensive way to start.   If you want to really find a new level in good sound look at the SoTM SMS-200ultra neo.

There are good youtube videos for ROON if you look.

    Good information here! Thanks.

Allo seems like an interesting company. after going DAC mad for many years I settled on the MSB Link III with Channel Islands modded. In the recent year I came up with the Channel Islands DAC. Both are very low jitter fatigue to me. I do use the AQ Dragonfly with a PC for Spotify. Found the laptop sounds better running off the battery rather than plugged in. Small radio station 2 miles down the road seems to use the AC cord as an antenna or something.

With Digital everything makes a difference.

I was going to upgrade the OP Amps in my Link III but may just spend some money on an Allo solution. Odd that Allo does not use metal cases for shielding.....

Been thinking about ROON for a few years. Most informative thread for my interest in some time.

Saw many bands in the 70's there. Tull, Grand Funk, Elton John.

Clapton, Doobies, Rondsdtat, Still and Young, Crosby and Nash, rocking James Taylor.

    I forget allot.

Just remembering the first time I saw B B King was at Pine Knob when I was too young to appreciate the privilege!
