  1. ---------------- Whats next? I still have some available credit. ---------------- Pop a cold one, sit back, relax, and watch a movie for heavens sake!!
  2. ---------------- On 6/4/2005 7:20:32 AM link wrote: The asking price is undertermined as yet but will be high. ---------------- Being that I am a cheap SOB, this part concerns me. That and the ever increasing prices on audio gear. Use to be able to find good deal on e-bay, but e-bay deals have mostly vanished. I lucked out 2 weeks ago with finding some CF4's, but those deals a few and far between.
  3. Single verticle Cornwall (e-bay # 5778938717) BIN $150. Someone buy this!!!!
  4. It seems the price of e-bay has gone up a lot over the last year or 2. What was once a bargin is now drawing top dollar. It's better to find stuff at thrift stores and garage sales now since deals are very tough to come by on e-bay. I purchased a pair of OO Forte's in excellent condition a few years ago for average of what they were selling for at the time, $400. This pair would easily draw $5-600 today. I thought it was only FL real estate that appreciated like that !! I'm keeping my Heritage.
  5. ---------------- The RF7's are an improvement over the KLF series which is a improvement over the CF series. ---------------- I personally don't believe this is true at all. I tested both the KLF & RF's in the same room with the same equipment. The KLF's sounded closer to the Heritage series than do the RF's. There just seemed to be more presence than the RF's. This is what I feel the Heritage is all about, "a live concert presence". I also thought the KLF's were very similar to my Cornwalls, which I also tested at the same time. The Cornwalls are both wider in body as well as in soundstage. Thats the reason I sold the KLF's and kept the Cornwalls. Now I have a pair of CF4's and am in the process of testing them compared to the Cornwalls, but I don't have them in the same room yet. My back was killing me the day I brought the 4 into the house so I'm taking time off before I start moving them around again. But from what I've heard so far, I likkey!!
  6. I'll bet a little vacuum action on the dust caps will pull them back into place. It worked on my Fortes although it was only the passive radiators I fixed. May not even make a difference with the sound if they remain as they are. Just looked like a sweet deal.
  7. PAIR OF KLIPSCH KG4 LIGHT OAK FLOOR SPEAKERS P/U ONLY Item number: 5778465578 Looks like a good deal for pick-up only.
  8. Sorry MP, but I purchased them on Saturday and they are keepers. Good luck on your quest.
  9. Carl, Unfortunately, the sub doesn't have a crossover. When I had it on my B&K pre-amp, I was using the B&K's crossover. The Onkyo doesn't have the same type of sub set-up so I'm pretty sure I'll have to use an equalizer to set the crossover points. I'm just not sure where to get the signal from, though I haven't really investigated a lot. I'm guessing I'll have to use a tape monitor for the signal to the sub, but I'll have to dig for some instruction or hope the memory kicks back into gear.
  10. I agree that Thump should be nominated for "Member of the month" although I wouldn't use that terminology ! He can definately spot the deals. I did find these at exactly 10:28 while doing some surfing and a search at sptimes.com. I remember the exact time because I was on the telephone talking with a friend and hung-up on him to call the ad. I was at the sellers house around 11:30 with cash in hand. This was definately a helluva deal and I am glad I had the spare cash at the time. I still want to thank Thump for keeping us all informed of deals around the country. Thanks Thump!!!
  11. Hopefully for the last year and a half I haven't had my SVS set up optimally. This Mirage seems to just smoke my SVS CS Ultra powered with an Adcom GFA555 MK II pumping out 800 WPC!!! Holy crap!!! Kinda disappointing because I thought the SVS was the "be all-end all" in regards to subwoofer performance. Looks like the SVS will join the 2 channel system although I really am satisfied with the way the Khorns sound on their own. I could use a pointer on 2 how to connect the SVS to the current 2 channel system? Onkyo integra M504 amp with a P308 grand integra pre amp. I will still be using the Adcom to power ther SVS. Any help would be "GREATLY" appreciated.
  12. I picked these up yesterday. What a deal this was. I asked the guy at least 5 times "Are you sure you want to do this?" and he was sure. He lives a small condo and really needed the room though his 70" TV took up the lions share of the space. After I left, he was going to Sound Advice to pick-up a Polk HTIB. For another $200 he threw in a Mirage BPS400 sub. I fit all the gear into my Isuzu Trooper, but it was a bit snug in there. I worked with this equipment all day and tested it compared to my current HT system that consists of Cornwall II, Forte's, Academy, SVS CS-Ultra, and it could hang in there. I think the sub may have dislogged a kidney stone!! I still like the Heritage sound of the Conwalls to the CF4's but the CF4's are incredible speakers. I'm going to sell a pair of the CF4's (at a break even price, not a gouger like the guy who bought the Belles)to a friend as well as my pair of CF1's so he can have a nice surround system. I will be keeping the walnut CF4's, KV4, and the sub to play around with.
  13. Looks like an owner made a type "b" from an original "c". The wood type is fir. They have original type "A" networks. I have a pair of '69's myself and wouldn't part with them. If they are close, grab them. You won't regret it.
  14. The CF4 is a bi-wire\ampable speaker, but it is a rare find for sale. I have a friend with a pair but never did a direct comparison to the KLF's. Over at Audio Review, there are some good reviews written and even one describing a Klipsch engineer preferring them over the Klipschorn's. I have a pair of CF1's which are not bi-wireable but sounded fine standing in for my Khorns while waiting on rebuilt crossovers to come back from Bob Crites.
  15. Here's a pair right in your backyard. Check out e-bay item # 5771616229. I bet these would make you miss the KLF's a little less. I have a pair of the original Forte's and think they are every bit as clean as the KLF's I use to own. Of course you could always bid on the Belle's over here is St. Pete, but I wouldn't deal with such a scalper.
  16. The fact the he is a newbie means he has little invested in this site. While it may be inconceivable for a "regular" to profit from selling equipment to another "regular", newbies don't know a single one of us nor have they experienced the camaraderie of the group. While I don't appreciate someone trying to scalp us for the maximum profit, time and effort are surely worth some $$. And don't think I'm sticking up for this guy just because I too am from St. Pete. I can just see this guy has nothing invested in this group.
  17. Keith, You are correct. They are 6.5" drivers, which makes it even more amazing. I always thought they were 8" drivers. This could explain why my girlfriend is so unhappy!
  18. Just sent my 69 Khorn's x-overs out to Bob Crites today, though I took them out 2 days ago. I have been listening to my CF1's which are not even close to optimally set-up. This is one great little speaker. It is surprising how much bass comes out of those "little" 8" woofers. It is really a remarkable speaker. IMO they beat my Hersey's hands down. The imaging is cleaner with more bass. Did I mention how much bass they had!! I would love to have a pair of CF4's for a while to see how they compare to my Cornwall's though you will have to rip my CW's from my cold dead hands.
  19. $900 + ship This is from a pretty well established guy over on the Polk Audio Forum. I haven't purchased anything from him, but many on that board have.
  20. Shipping speakers, to me, is always questionable. Though your intentions are noble, I would fear that something happens to the speaker in shipping. I have heard horror stories time and again on this very board, that something was damaged during shipping. Unless, of course, there is an "Academy Crate"!!
  21. Why is divorce so expensive? Because it's worth it!
  22. Well, I went to see them today. The pics don't do them justice. They are in excellent condition though I would have thought they would at least dust them. They do have the brown "weave" (for lack of a better term) grills and the rear gasket looks like new. They are on consignment and although I offered $1600, it doesn't seem they will negotiate. They will get a hold of the owners today to check but I'm not holding my breath. At least I can take comfort knowing I gave it a shot and I still enjoy my 69's daily.
  23. Just for reference, here's what mine look like.
