  1. I never liked Cary products, don't shoot me, I just never have. But 'smeared' is so darn far from what SET is that there must have been some other reason for your initial impression. Don't go cheap; the cost of quality output transformers makes most kits and all finished products quite expensive. Rule of thumb, it should have an output transformer about the size of your head [] OTOH, there are many fine PP integrated amps out there. Just won't have the 'magic' of SET, but maybe that isn't your cup of tea. IMHO (golly I use a lot of acronyms) the match between speakers and amplification is crucial to good sound. No clear-cut guidelines on what works with what, though. Trial and error and willingness to buy used and sell your mistakes is the best way to find out what works.
  2. You're kidding, right? You want 150 watts to run your Cornwalls? Ever tried what 15 watts would get you? Not sure that pricetag is the ultimate dividing point, either. Any 300 watt amplifier that weighs less than a phone book ain't worth squat. I measure my watts by the pound; essentially 5 pounds per watt per channel.
  3. Bob, can't help on the Z bracket but I would guess someone could come up with the measurements and an enterprizing person could get some fabricated easy enough. I bid on a set of your type A xovers on epay today. My xovers are original '79 and probably in need of fresh caps.
  4. Darn it Allan, I was bidding on that! Hoped that no one knew about it. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
