Thanks to ALK, for his design on these xovers. I have aquired a pair of Al's Universal xovers, I can not say enough about the new found sound coming from my khorns. True bliss, the bass is so much more crisp and clean. With the mids backed down they are much more pleaseing to listen to. Hats off to AL for making my day, thanks to all the rest of the forum for the great info. I would be know where without you guys. Jay

I am wondering can I use my phono pre to improve the sound of my ipod?

I was wondering if I could connect my ipod to my phono pre amp for more quality playback, any thoughts on this? Jay

mdbrien, when i got my tubed pre amp I tried it out in front of my marantz ss amp and it was hard to turn off. I see where you are in new orleans, I live across the river send me a pm or email. Maybe we can get together and you could check out the differences in the two set ups. SS or tubes. Jay

More reviews should be like that, it's more about what sounds right to you the listener. I to have SET amps one 2a3, and one 300b. The 300b is a better amp than my 2a3, but it sounds pretty good to me for what it is. As far as tubes I have the same ones you have and they are just fine. If you want to spend alot of money the vintage RCA'S are better, butI don't think they are that much better. Just my opinion. Jim, thanks for the pic. I cannot get mine to come up. mine is a little different, the one you have in the picture is the intergrated version. the one I have is the power amp version, it looks just like that one, except the power on/off switch is in the back. also there are no nobs on the front, the imput connections are in the front instead of the rear for a more direct wire path. it is a dual mono design, the tubes I am using are 6sn7 imput, el34 driver, 5z3 rectifiers, sophia's 300b output tubes. this thing sound awsome the inner detail is outstanding along with all it's other qualities. I am really enjoying it. Jay

Hi all, I am considering selling my vintage Marantz set up. Right now I'm just feeling the waters, but for the right offer I will sell. This what I have, MARANTZ 3250 PRE-AMP, MARANTZ 300DC POWER AMP. All gear is in very good condition, the face plates are all near perfect. There are no issuses with said gear other than needing a cleaning to clear up some static with the push buttons. I have no pic's, but will provide if really interested. Question #1 is about which settings to use in itunes.

1st. What will give me the best sound quality for playback through the ipod on a high end set up, using itunes to import? 2nd. For burning cd's which format in itunes gives the best sound quality? Jay
