  1. Do you deliver to Utah?  *wink wink*

@Md5150 How do they pair with the Tuba?  I listen to organ music daily and need some beef all the way down to 16Hz.  Also, what amp(s) are you using?  I haven't been on the forum for a few years and lost track of who's here and what's going on.

  2. I saw a single Palladium speaker on a rotating turntable at the Klipsch booth at CEDIA. It looked great. Looking at the mid horn was like looking down the throat of a jet turbine. Very neat looking. I couldn't see where the speaker terminals were though...

  3. I have a Jolida 302b tube amp with JJ KT77's. I was just listening to organ music at moderate level (although it was at full organ and quite bass-heavy) when I looked up and one of them was glowing far more than the others (although still orange). The glowing decreased in intensity when I ran up to the amp and turned it down. I then switched the amp off to avoid any potential damage. These tubes are relatively new to me and probably have a couple hundred hours on them. I bias the tubes every 4-5 months. Any thoughts?

  4. Another one. Sorry for the decor. The furniture, tv, cabinet, knives, curtains are not mine. We're house-sitting for an older couple. The audio gear is mine though. Maybe I'll show a picture of the rest of the room. 95% of the room rattles. Knives, guns, swords unexploded munitions. It's all here.

    Carbon-fiber cones. mmmm...

  5. You can do two things here.

If you want to play through all four channels, buy one of these http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2427999&cp=&sr=1&origkw=stereo+1%2F8%22&kw=stereo+1%2F8&parentPage=search

it combines the two pair of left and right, but you will have four channel "stereo".

If you only want to play through two of the speakers, don't connect the other two and only plug in the green plug. That's what I do.

  6. Loud & Clear,

You don't think that the RF-63's will be underpowered by the 2700 along with the RC-64?

Well I don't. Plus, the 2700 has pre- outs for an external amp. Listen to it just with the 2700 and if you like it, keep it. If not pony up the dough and get some serious wattage. I don't think you'll be lacking with this setup though. Yamaha's have some of the cleanest watts and lowest distortion numbers you will find at a reasonable price.

  7. I'd forego the sub unless you have to buy it to get the better deal. Frankly, you'll never even notice it's there with those towers. [:|]

Good point. Also, don't try using a Paradigm center with Klipsch mains. Your head will explode. I have Studio 20 v.4's and I cringe to think what would happen if I tried using a klipsch center with it. The two sounds just wouldn't go together. I love Klipsch and Paradigm both, but not together.

  8. If you want really good protection, look for something that has a battery back-up feature, EMI/RFI filtering, and automatic voltage regulation. Those units are usually more expensive, but they do more and give you more protection. Look at products by Furman that have a "PF" on the end of the model #, that stands for "power factor". That means the unit has ability to hold a charge to provide correct voltage in the event of a sag as well as limiting peaks. They also provide power in blackout situations. Good for rear project TV's and front projectors. Tripp Lite also sells excellent equipment. The HTRL15UPS is what I will be buying this week. Excellent piece and for a reasonable price. Don't buy into the different "levels" of power filtering. If it doesn't filter all of it, don't buy.

(I do work for an AV dealer and I did a LOT of research on this stuff. I have been told by manufacturers (of audio gear) to use voltage regulating systems for any sensitive electronics; and no, I'm not a dealer for Furman or Tripp Lite).

    Good luck.

  9. Consider for a moment that the F113 could be located in a null. You would have to turn it up considerably to get a lot of sound. You may be pushing it too hard. Have you tried moving it around? Like what was said before, get an spl meter and measure your in-room response. Tell us what SPL you are running. "Relatively high levels" is relative.

  10. Frzninvt, the FSR is taking care of all the bass in my 2 channel setup (well, from about 80 Hz down). I love it. It's doing great. It's mated to a pair of Paradigm Studio 20 v.4's and a Jolida 302b tube integrated. A very punchy trio. I listen to organ music all the time and even in this huge room, it still shakes the couch and it's only at level 2.5! I can't wait for this Niles to arrive so I can watch movies again.

  11. I work for a custom installation company and are offered employee discounts for brands we carry. Niles announced their StageFront line of speakers and I ordered their StageFront subwoofer. Have a look at the specs and tell me what you think. It will be used for movies 95% of the time in a 3500is cubic foot room. Here's a picture and link:

Considering it retails for $1800 and I paid $500, I'm pretty excited. I've been allocated one from the first batch. Handbuilt too. Let me know what you think!
