  1. Has anyone heard these yet? I would be interested in listening impressions. I would plan to use a Counterpoint 5.1 amp modified by Michael Elliot and a Wright AU 15(push pull 2A3) amp. Listening experiences with tube equipment would be more appropriate . Thanks
  2. I certainly agree with you. I own a pair of AU15's. I drive them with a modified Counterpoint 5.1 Preamp. They certainly don't provide anemic sound as has been expressed on this site. The AU15's are a pushpull 15 watt/channel 2A3 amps. They will easily drive any speaker with 90 db. or greater sensitivity. Also, George Wright is a very nice and honest person. I am sure the Mono 10's sound very similar to the AU 15's.
  3. I auditioned the RF83's with Sony electronics. I found the bass to be good but felt the high frequencies were bright. We might be saying the same thing about the mid and high frequencies, but in different words. I did feel that the low frequencies were ok. These speakers will probably sound better with a tube amp on the mellow side
  4. Go for the 233. These units come with 6u8 or 7199 driver tubes to complement the EL 84 output tubes. At 22 watts/ channel they are more than enough for any Klipsch speaker. It just seems to me the 233 have better bass and resolution than the 299. Just my opinion.
  5. I auditioned these at a local dealer. It was hard to appreciate the 2 channel capabilities of these speakera due to the electronics. I found the new tweeter to be bright with a solid state Sony but less aggresive than the RF 75. What was surprising was the bass response, which was excellent. I think these speakers will be at their best with tubes and certain ss elctronics. Audition them at home if you can. By the way I really liked the RB 81's They have a less aggressive tweeter than the RF 83's. I plan to audition the 83's with George Wright 2A3 push pull amps and a refurbished Counterpoint 5.1 Preamp. I am also trying to find a dealer with Cornwald III but this is not going to be easy. The Cornwald III have new titanium compression drivers and this has piqued my interest in them.
  6. I had a pair of Unity Audio dynamic speakers with a similar 40hz anomaly and solved the problem by switching the speakers from the short wall to the longwall (rectangle type room) and eliminated my problem. Rather than banish the Cornwalls to the basement you might want to try this, unless there is a waf situation at home.
  7. The new compression titanium dome mid and high frequency drivers in the Cornwall III, are they the same as the reference series drivers?
