  1. Very nice system!! Travis, have you thought about upgrading that RC-52 to an RC-7 or RC-64?? *I couldnt resist dishing an upgraditis hint* That sunfire Cinema Grand is to die for by the way.............
  2. Maybe, maybe not. I think Dolby suggests that the two rears be seperate in their 7.1 config. It all depens on you. Mine are set up like THX, but only because of constraints within my room. And two subs do whoop some serious arse when set up right.
  3. Hey Jay, Where are you in NYC?? We should get together and compare our top line RF's!!
  4. Cj, Actually, my home theater/system sounds quite nice to me (with my RF-7's set to large). I would not argue that they could sound better (maybe MUCH better) with a better amp, as I agreed with Bill; I just did not think that it is right to imply that a reciever would shut down, thus making them unusable, as I primarily listen to my RF-7s set to large and shut my subs off when I want to listen to music and have never experienced that phenomenon. Listening levels are subjective, as it depends on the type of music and what is considered "loud". I blast Jazz, Hip-Hop, Pop and Electronic music quite loudly, and I do not hear distortion from my reciever. As far as tubes, I did not realize that they were so drastically different watt per watt from solid state. I guess this bodes another question to both you and to Bill: The RF-7s are rated as 8ohm speakers, but you would run them on the 4 ohm taps--if the RF-7s are so difficult to drive, why wouldnt Klipsch rate them as a 4ohm average instead of an 8 ohm?
  5. Bill, Fair enough. I probably would be surprised with a better amp (and am saving to do just that), though RF-7's are rated at 8 ohms, not four. However, I have a feeling I am not the only one driving RF-7's with a reciever (even one as low end as mine is), and am not the only one whose receiver has not shut down playing at loud levels. Then again, maybe I am just lucky......................
  6. I have always found these figures to be a little misleading, no offense to anyone here. My Yamaha receiver (cheap $300.00) has no problem driving the RF-7's and has NEVER shut down even when playing movies at levels no one can stand but me (I live in a brownstone with no neighbors). No signs of amplifier clipping, nothing. And my reciever is only 75 watts per channel rated (not even all channels driven). In addition, there are many RF-7 lovers out there using tubes that are, what, 5 watts per channel, 10 watts per channel? Now, I undertstand that RF-7s will sing with more power, but to say that lower end receivers are incapable of driving them In My Humbe Opinion is an error, proven by my own experiences to date. Just a few thoughts.
  7. LOL Jay, Good point. Just thought I should point them out as I never see these speakers anywhere anymore. Maybe someone on the forum will pick them up. Hell, I might just to use in a seperate room
  8. If you are interested: http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrmoni&1186427747 Dont know much about the seller, but worth a shot if you are looking for a great pair of speakers!
  9. If you want a REAL upgrade, send your crossovers to DeanG to tame those highs or upgrade your power amp or receiver. The RF-83's ROCK, but I would not think they are that much better than the RF-7's to justify the cost. Upgrade the crossover and, from what I hear, you will notice an immediate difference.
  10. Zuzu, Funny you mention that. It does indeed say that in the RF-7 manual, though in more recent manuals (RB-75, RB-35, etc.), Klipsch avoids stating the specific benefits, if there are at all. I think it is because there remains much debate about the benefits/perceptions associated with bi-wiring, and though my speakers are bi wired, I am of the school of thought that there is no difference between single wire and bi wire as far as sound improvement. I just like the look, and had the extra wire and connectors. But if you percieve a difference, then by all means, go for it.
  11. I use the Dayton 10 gague zip wire in a biwire config for my RF-7's and RC-7. Dayton 12 gague to the four RB-75's. I dont hear much of a difference with the bi wiring, I just like the look Then again, how often do I go behind my speakers?? Ha Ha. The stupid decision bug hit me square in the ***.
  12. What Phil said.............. The RF-7's are a better speaker, regardless of amplification in my opinion. I drive them with an inexpensive amp and they are simply sweet sounding. They would sound MUCH better with more power, but they are still a substantial upgrade from say, the RB-35's that I also own. I hear the RF-5's are also great speakers too, but if given the choice, I would go RF-7's and upgrade the amps at some pint in the future if you did not hear a major difference. Still, I think you will anyway....
  13. I cannot tell a lie and say these are economical stands, but they are excellent and are sand fillable. I own two pairs of RB-75's and I swear by these stands: http://www.dynamichomedecor.com/Apollo-A3.html Free shipping too On another note, you could always build your own.......
  14. Wow. You should let us know who the seller is so that we all know never to buy from him!!!
  15. I stand corrected, though I know nothing of this seller: http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-RF-7-RF7-Pair-Cherry_W0QQitemZ160113494384QQihZ006QQcategoryZ14993QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  16. It depends on the finish. Maple RF-7's are going for about 1000.00. The Klipsch ebay store includes the warranty, but I am not sure about the other stores offering it online. I bought my RF-7's in cherry new for $1050.00, but that seller no longer has that color, only the maple.

  18. You could also use blu tack or plasti tack. Double sided tape may be a pain to get off, whereas blu tack comes right off and does not mar your speakers. Just a thought....
  19. You would think.................It is odd that the RF-7 in maple seems to be all over ebay new, yet I only found one RC-7 in maple in like the last two months, and that one was used. Very strange indeed. I will keep on the lookout for ya.
  20. I agree with MAS, only insofar as to say that if one makes a statement lauding a competitor's product over Klipsch on a KLIPSCH forum, you cannot expect that every comment will be "congratulations on your purchase." I WILL congratulate you though, if those speakers make you happy, and even more so for braving the good fight. MAS, you have a bit of free time on your hands, huh? LOL
  21. For stands, might I suggest: http://www.dynamichomedecor.com/Apollo-A3.html Awesome stands if you can afford them, and they are sand fillable.
  22. Hello guys, I have no idea if there are forum members who listen to hip hop, but I felt compelled to introduce you to Brother Ali "The Undisputed Truth". It is an indie album that has content, musical originality and subtletly often lacking in today's hip hop releases. The production taks its cues from old school soul, reggae and jazz, and Ali himself is an albino Muslim (yes, an albino Muslim!!) with much to say and a lyrical fluidity rare in todays mainstream radio releases. A true gem for anyone interested. PS--this is NOT a 50 Cent or Mims or other crappy rapper's album!! It is truly very good.
  23. ..........why are the RB-75's so rare??? ..........why are the RF-7's and RC-7 still relatively easy to find??? ...........why are the RF-7's with serial numbers that start with "07" even though they were produced until 06?? ...........why does Klipsch have such a well informed and active forum and other manufacturers do not????
  24. .............Except you cannot do the same with the RC-52 as the horn is built into the front molding of the speaker. At least it is timbre matched. []
  25. Good advice here Disco, The RC-7 would be my first step in your situation as well. Save that money and get one when you can. Granted, it is more to save, but you will not regret the wait.
