  1. Just wondering, I am using the same ports(4") on my LS project... So, would you make the holes the same size as the flair? or pipe size? This speaker building is all new to me... Thanks, S Lee
  2. Hello Bob, Great pic's, I wish I had seen this sooner. Just got finished refoaming two 15" woofers. What a pain! The kit was great, but take lots of patiance. (newfoam.com) S. Lee
  3. Talk about expensive hobbies! I the guy in red the other guy is my painter.
  4. D-Man, Well, I was going to port mine through the top. I guess this had not been done yet. I am new to the forum so I did't know if any have tried this mod yet. Bruce introduce the plans to me so I guess we will just see (hear) what happens. One of my reasons for porting though the top was to maintain the stock look from the front and lowing the bass response. I will post some pics when I get started as I move along with the project. Just got my 4" flared ports in today. My Birch will be here next week.
  5. Carl, Nice pic, How much bass difference with the port mod? Did you notice any at all? S.Lee
  6. Bruce, just checking to see if anyone else has ever done this mod from scatch and what kind of results they may have gotten. I am going to build mine with the ports open to the back. Hopefully I will get a little deeper bass out of the LS's with this mod. I got all my horns and drivers in today. Just need my wood and I will be ready to start. I will practice on plywood first before I start with the Birch. I though about 45 degree cuts on my corners. That may be to much of a challage for me but would sure look a lot nicer. Have to see how my practice cuts turn out. Thanks for the support! S. Lee
  7. Has anyone done the port mod though the top section? Closing off the top back half and porting it with 2 4"x7 ports and opening up the top dog house cover? I believe Bruce a 3d drawing of this. (also gave me the idea) Just wondering if it has been done before or just a new idea. If it has been done what kind of results did they get? Thanks S. Lee
  8. There is a K-45 woofer on ebay for sale. Just trying to find out the diffrence in the two and if it would work on a LS project with ports. S Lee
  9. Does anyone know the diffrence in the two subs? K-43 and K-45? S. Lee
  10. I would also like to publicly thank Bruce for all his help. I would not have made it this far without him. And without his drawings I would have never been able to figure it out. I have hammered him all week with questions. He is a asset for the forum. I will post pics when I start this project. S.Lee
  11. Thanks guys, Greg, the photos are great. I have been speaking with Bruce and he was explain the ported mode to me. I was just wondering if there were any other type designs out there that someone has tried for the LS's before I start. (keeping factory look) S. Lee
  12. Hello all, I am a newbie trying to build a set of LS. I have been doing my home work and found out that the LS's are weak on bass. I really have my heart set on building these. I would like to get an opinion from some of you more experienced builders. If I was to build a LS with it ported in the top HF section and opened up the motorboard where the woofer mounts (instead of firing through the 3 x 13 slot make a 15" hole) would that help low my bass? or give me a little more punch? I have seen where someone built a ported box on the bottom of a LS. But would like to keep mine looking as much as stock as possible. Any feed back from you experts would be great. Thanks in advance, S.Lee
  13. Dman, Hey, thanks anyway. I made up my mind, I will build my own... All this help here I can't go wrong. S Lee

  16. I know how you guys feel... I saw were a pair of 80 model La Scala's sold on Ebay in my area for $1675.00. At the time I though it was a little high till I price the new La Scala II's. Now I am kicking myself... S. Lee

  20. Hello all, I am a newbie and tryed to search this on the forum. Back in the late 70's you could purchase a La Scala in a kit and put it together and save a little money. Just wondering is there a way to just purchase the components and build your own box? If so, where can I find the plans and can you purchase the components from Klipsch? or dealer? I would like to build my own if possible. Thanks in advance, S. Lee
