  1. Our new nano's will not fit in the new adaptors with the skins on. By the way I just got a refurb iGroove and it came with the new nano adaptor.
  2. I cannot speak to this year's LG plasma, but in January, I looked at LG and at Panasonic and the PQ on the Panny blew the LG away. I bought the Panny and could not be happier. With the recent price drop on the Panny, it's tough to beat for the price. SD picture on the Panny is about as good as it gets for SD. HD is outstanding as well. One more comment. With the price drops, if your looking at 42" sets, look at the 50's. I am already looking to move the 421 to the bedroom and go bigger.
  3. I think you'll find the KV-3 will work fine. Around $100 or a litlle more is about the going rate for a black one. The oak ones might approach $200. They are much less common. Talk to the seller about helping out on the return shipping. You should not have to foot the bill if it doesn't work. (and buzzing qualifies as "doesn't work.") I'll echo RichardP re not cobbling together a center speaker. It's too important to the sound to be patched up. You should be able to find a reasonable functioning KV-3. Also I wouldn't think about going down to KV-1 or KV-2's. You'll need at least a KV-3 to keep up with your 5.2's
  4. If you're set at 42" , then 720p will be fine. If you're going bigger, esp. over 50", then 1080p is the way to go. If you have wide angle viewing then plasma is the hot set up. I have a 42" panny plasma and light reflection is no worse than my old CRT was. I would think twice about plasma ONLY if you have bright uncontrollable light beaming into the room; otherwise I do not find it a problem.
  5. Kg 4.2's seem to be the most popular Klipsch kg speaker for sale on e-bay. They are on there all the time. Do they sound different from the rest of the Kg line? You almost never see 4.5's for instance. Is there any thing particular to 4.2's that make people turn them over more frequently?
  6. Like you I am looking into going from ProLogic to a 5.1system. I use a KV-3 with my KG 3.5's and I am very happy with it. KV-3's can be readily found on e-bay for a reasonable price. There's been a fair amount of KG bookshelves as well. FWIW, I just added a pair of RS-25's for surrounds, and I was surprised how well they fit in.
  7. I use a KV-3 with my KG 3.5's and am very happy. If you can find a KV-3 you might be happier, but I think a KV-2 would work almost as well.
  8. I saw a post earlier about two RC-62's for sale that were used for surrounds. I am putting together a KG system and am wondering what others think about using center channel speakers as surrounds. I am presently using a KV-3 for a center, and it would seem that KV-2's or KV-3 would be better than bookshelves for surrounds both sonicly and aethestically. Are there any others with experience using centers as surrounds? Opinions?
  9. I think the general opinion is that it would be better over or under the TV. But why get into an argument with the wife? Put it on the side like she wants, and both of you will find out soon enough if that's acceptable or not.
  10. FWIW I bought a cable for a monitor at work from those folks and was very satisfied. Quality was good, it came quickly, and the price was right.
  11. No, big open walk way from Kitchen and dining area on one side, and double glass sliders and fireplace on the other. No way to run wires.
  12. I am presently running a 3.1 set up and would like to add rears to complete a 5.1 set up. I have no way short of running wires outside my family room and back in through the back wall. The room is on a concrete slab and has a cathedral ceiling with no attic. There is a coax running from the front wall where the audio system and TV are to the back wall. It was originally put in for a TV on that wall. Are there adapters that will take high level outputs and convert to a coax and then reverse it on the other end? If that won't work, I also have a spare amp that I could put on the back wall. Could I take preamp outs, convert to coax and then back to low level input to feed the amp? Any other ideas. I really don't want to run the wires outside and over the roof of the family room. Thanks.
  13. I'd second the vote for good on music and OK for HT if you aren't looking for the really big bang. But even for a great working SW10 II that seems a little high. There have been a couple on ebay the last month or so for under $200.
  14. I'm about ready to upgrade my KG 3.5's in a 3.1 system (maybe save them for rears.) I've seen a fair number of RF-3's and RF-35's both available at around the same prices. I'm interested in hearing the pro's and con's of one versus the other. What I'd really like is a set of RF-5's but they are pretty hard to find for sale used. I know I'd have to upgrade the center channel and the SW but obviously the center would wait to see which set of RF's I end up with. Usage is about 2/3 HT and 1/3 Music Recommendations ???
