  1. That jacksonbart has been a pyrokinetic (what ever that is) since 1998.
  2. Ever since you guys started praising the Oppo brand dvd players, I thought I might have to check one out for myself, to see what the deal is with these things. I picked up an older DV-970HD, lightly used of course, for the princely sum of $50.00. I had not incorporated it in to any of my two channel systems until last night when my Dennon 2910 decided to develop an issue with reading discs. I must admit, all though very good, the sound quality of this Oppo is not quite as good as the Dennon, but, It certainly didn't retail for near as much either. I have accumulated a couple of hours of listening time with this machine and have come to the feeling that it rivals my Pioneer dvd player that cost three times more, retail. Oh, by the way, I only use my dvd players in a two channel setup so I can only comment on the experience in that realm. Conclusion: A pretty good $50.00 investment and you guys actually do know what you're talking about. Tom
  3. I don't have anything to add about the hook up, but, I parted with my 5.5's almost a year ago now and still whine about it to this day. They are a great souding speaker. I know you will enjoy them immensely. Tom
  4. Thank you for your replies. After speaking with the seller about the turntable, I chose to pass. He wanted almost as much as they sell for brand new. I will wait for something else. Maybe something like a Technics 1200 or a Thorens of good quality. Tom
  5. Any thoughts on this turntable? I am thinking about checking one out if the price is right. Although I have no idea what a good price is for a used one with cartridge. I don't know what kind of cart. it has as of yet. Is this a decent low priced quality TT? Any help or comments will be appreciated. Thanks, Tom
  6. Congrats' on the find. I have been using my 9090DB in my bedroom with my Forte's for about a year now and I couldn't be happier. I know my Marantz 2275 is being neglected, but every time I think I'm going to swap them, I give a listen and say "Naa not now, maybe later." Tom
  7. I kind of thought so by the lack of info. when I was trying to research it. Thank you for the help. Tom
  8. Anyone have any experience with one of these? I have found one that supposed to be in great shape with original tone arm and an Ortofon cartridge with only a few hours of use. Asking price, $200.00, with a possibility of a little wiggle room. I have no experience with Thorens and only know what I have read. It seems to me that some are rematkable TT's and others are just marginal. I wonder where this one fits in? Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks, Tom
  9. Thank you guys for your suggestions. I think I will try the repair methods first. Because of the type of material used I will probably have to replace it. I hope it is an easy procedure with little risk involved. I'm not too experienced with repairs. Tom
  10. Thank you Harry. Is there a particular type of glue that you prefer or is the suggested super glue gel the type I should use? Tom
  11. Anyone have any experience with repairing a dented dust cover on a KG5.5 or similar woofer? The material is a plastic or something like plastic. I have experience with paper dust covers and know that they can be fixed, but, I am not sure how or if I can fix this one, due to the type of material used. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you, Tom
  12. Thank you Bruce I am going to give that a shot within the next couple of days. I will inform you of how it went when I am done. Tom
  13. It's a type of rubber and there seems to be none of it missing. It has been ripped somehow. It looks as if something sharp has come into contact with it somehow. These were given to me by someone who had moved into a new home and no longer wanted to use them in their HT setup. They went with some little bitty things. I hope they sound as good as these KG3.2's. I have never tried anything like this repair before. Any tips to make it easy?

  15. Thank you Bruce. I will give that a shot. What might you suggest as a patch? Tom
  16. Will weldbond work on Klipsch surrounds? I ask because I have a KG3.2 with a tear in the passive radiator surround. When playing music through it, I hear no unusual sounds or distortion of any kind, no matter the spl. Soft or loud it seems to sound fine. I would just like to make it look better without replacing the surround or passive radiator. Tom
  17. Those are beauties, aren't they. LOL!
  18. Yes, I have tested them for days at different sound levels and they are sounding great.
  19. OOPS! Double post. Wanted to edit but messed up
  20. Cool! You're going to love them. They are in near mint condition and don't worry about the packing. I worked moving and storage for 15 years and have had vast amounts of packing experience. This place is pretty cool to hang out at. Lots of good people that are more than happy to assist, with a tremendous amount of knowledge. I for one have been blessed with help from several of the members here. Be warned! Klipsch products are addictive.

  22. Welcome aboard! Did you just buy them off of ebay from someone in Tacoma WA.? If you did, I am the one you bought them from. Shoot me a pm or an email. I don't have any experience with Rotel components but I have heard they are high quality electronics. I don't think that you will have any problems. Klipsch speakers in general are pretty efficient and will sound pretty darn good with most quality electronics. I have used Sansui, McIntosh, Carver, Marantz, Harmon Kardon, Luxman and HH Scott tube integrated amp, and to be quite honest, every model of Klipsch I have used (which is quite an assortment) have sounded fantastic. Tom
  23. Congrats. on the successful project. I too have been impressed and do cherish my 430. Tomorrow I am picking up another one for $10.00 that needs a little work. The cosmetics are supposed to be mint. We will see. The one I have I have been using for two years now, off and on, and has always been pleasing to the ears. It's amazing that something this old can compete with newer higher rated (watts per channel) units and come out on top. Technology has come a long ways but when it comes to what one hears, some of the old stuff still prevails.
  24. Thank you guys for the info. I tried Gorilla Glue and clamped. I had difficulty working with the messy stuff but avoided getting any on the outside of the cabinet. I was only able to get a little bit of an area without help. I will test tomorrow and see if it did the trick. If it didn't then I might try the Titebond. It sounds like that stuff might be easier to work with. Wish me luck. Thanks again, Tom
