  1. Anyone see Barrett-Jackson last night? GM 1950 Superbus (13 made, and only 3 still operating under own power)

    $4.1 MILLION dollars.....NEW BJ record

    http://www.autoblog.com/2006/01/22/gm-futurliner-rewrites-barrett-jackson-record-books-hammers-to/

Fricked insane! Heck, they had a SS LS6 I think went for over 1 Million, but my favorite car L-88 1969 Vette #216 of 216 matching numbers, only went for $220 grand.

I can't figure it all out, I swear!

  2. I cheated.....had to research since my memory ain't quite what is used to be:

REVOLUTION I think, but that was before 1970?? I can see this trivia game will be a real test........no doubt, some will need extra clues! I have a few tough ones for ya later down the road!

  3. Kinda been toying around w/the idea of putting together a simple program to test the knowledge of our board members:

    Guidelines as follows:

    (1) LP must be during the 1970 - 1980's era, covering the 20 year period

    (2) LP MUST have had at least (1) top 40 hit AND was available in the the USA.

    (3) Picture w/clues are acceptable and preferred to expedite the process, but no names or dates. For instance, I will post up the first LP next week (which is a relatively scarce album cover). Band was killed and the album cover was pulled from the market shortly after its release. Many of you can already figure it out, but we'll start the game w/easy artists, and then move on to more regional/lesser known recordists.

I figure this should make a nice edition to 2007, and rekindle those fond memories of years past.

    Happy New Year

    Mark

  4. Funny you should mention that, as I just went thru my albums last night (414 in all), but thought I had more! Boogie Motel, Fool for the City, the original debut album (??) and one more that escapes me at the moment!

Good ole Lonesome Dave - "I just wanna make love to you" (The song folks) lol

  5. BEC is testing out my B-2 Networks on the sonic vs gelcaps........Midrange/Highs are now too bright and low mids/bass are virtually non-existent. Before, I had full range, and I hear on these boards that the Cornwall III's sound better than the II's.

Bob is gonna let me know what he finds out when comparing the (2) different types of caps.

The 2-channel audio "Bermuda Triangle" [8-)]

  6. x2.....even w/o my peripherals (EQ, expanders, etc.), I only push my 120W Yamaha at 50-70% of full volume w/flat signal, and that is reaching the upper limits of the Cornwalls capabilities based on my setup.

Those Heritage series products are unbelievable, and unlike ANY HE speaker that I've ever witnessed. VERY EFFICIENT!

Not sure about the F's, but I would think they are just as efficient and responsive.

  7. Thank Jeff, but I wasn't seeking anything specific, just how the various models differ and how these units stack up against the competition of that era. Mac', Harmon's, etc.

Information has eluded me, as I would have thought maybe Stereo Review, or some other mags would have had archived info. Based on my review, it doesn't appear on the surface, that they made a TON of these C and M series preamps/amplifiers. The S/N on the C6 is #1715, and the M-50 also has a low production number.

Yes, I love the sound of the Yamaha's for clarity and low-distortion......makes the Cornwalls' mids sing, but lacks the FULLNESS of other well-known brand names such as the McIntosh and Harmon-Kardon's. Hard to explain in words, but maybe you can relate

  8. Funny you should post auto audio pics.....one of my friends WAS still running an old US AMPS tube/active crossover setup.

Talk about bringing back memories.! MBQ's......yeah man! Running Q's (uprfont-biamped), Premiums (rear-biamped) and Reference tweets in the A pillars via the HU. You all would laugh if you knew how this system was wired, but it works amazingly well for a "bastardized" afterthought design.

The car bug got me too, and that is how I lost touch w/Home Entertainment for 20 years. Hell, I have almost 75% more in my car system, than my home setup, but gotta put the money where you spend the most time, and that is on-the-road, for me.

  9. Absolutely....I have a few from several of my Radio DJ friends back in the 70's. Some of those (holepunched) promo's are very rare! Rare, referring to one-time local/regional wonders that never made the big time, and a few that had special covers and/or colored labels/vinyl.

If anyone has digitally remastered LP's for sale, THOSE I cherish the most.
